  • This study was conducted to study the associations between parents' effortful control (EC), their parenting behavior and infants' EC. Subjects of the present study were 55 infants and their parents. Parents who participated in this study replied to questionnaires, including ECBQ-SF, ATQ-SF and Parenting style scale. There was positive correlations between the parents' EC, affectionate parenting style and infants' EC by zero-order correlation. We also performed Mann-Whitney test on the acquired data and it showed significant differences in the infants' EC by their parents' EC and parenting behavior. More specifically, infants with more affectionate and permissive parents showed higher levels of EC. Finally, we performed a partial correlation analysis and its results revealed that the correlation coefficient between the parents' EC and the infants' EC decreased when the parenting style was controlled. These results are vital to have a better understanding on the developmental pathways to the EC.

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of the mother's parenting style and parenting stress on infant's basic living habits. The subjects for the study were 155 infants and their mothers. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and a multiple regression model technique. The results of the of the correlation analysis showed some significant positive correlations between the mother's parenting style and the infant's basic living habits. In addition, the mother's parenting stress showed the effects of a significant negative correlation with the infant's sleeping habit and eating habit, a sub-factor of the basic living habits. The importance of the mother's parenting style and parenting stress are discussed in terms of the relation to the developing infant's basic living habits.

  • This study was to examine the correlations between parenting styles, Chinese high school students' character strengths, and their school adjustment, and direct and indirect effects of parenting styles and character strengths on their school adjustment. The subjects were 378 high school students in Zheng Zhou, China. Results were as follows. Firstly, parenting styles, character strengths, and school adjustment showed significant correlations among each other. Secondly, there were significant gender differences on authoritarian parenting style, courage, and peer relations. Thirdly, the structural equation model for the participants supported that authoritarian parenting style and authoritative parenting style had direct and indirect effects on school adjustment. Also, students' character strengths mediated between authoritarian and authoritative parenting styles and school adjustment. Implications of the study were discussed in depth.

  • A total of 31 mothers of 5-month-old infants(18 boys and 13 girls) were observed and interviewed at home via a questionnaire format. Results revealed that perceived maternal parenting style had an effect on general infant general development. As mother exhibited more didactic and limit setting behaviors, the infants showed more receptive, expressive, and language development characteristics. Furthermore, the effects of maternal sensitivity on infant general development and language skills were also ascertained. The infants who showed more positive general development had mothers who interacted sensitively with them. Maternal sensitivity was the only factor that had a major effect on infant general development. The overall findings of this study indicate that perceived maternal parenting style and observed maternal sensitivity were found to have positive effects on general infant general development and language skills.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of family economic distress, paternal depression, marital relationship, and controlling parenting style on behavioral problems in young children and to present a program for their reduction. The participants of this study were 344 fathers, whose young children were attending kindergartens located in Cheongju city. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, frequency, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and Pearson's productive correlation, t and F-tests via the SPSS 12.0 program, with the path model analyzed using the AMOS 7.0 program. There were six paths where family economic distress, mediated by paternal depression, marital relationship, controlling parenting style, had effects on the behavioral problems in young children. However, the path where family economic distress had an indirect effect on the behavioral problems in young children via paternal depression and marital relationship appeared to be the most influential. Also, paternal depression appeared to have the most impact on young children's behavioral problems.

  • The purpose of the present study was to estimate the effect of adolescents' depression on cell phone dependency and to identify mediating effects of parenting style and peer isolation. The study used data from the $6^{th}$ waves of 2015 KCYPS(Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey). Structural Equation Model(SEM) was conducted to examine the mediating effects of parenting style and peer isolation. The results showed that adolescents' depression had positive effects on cell phone dependency. In addition, the relationship between adolescents' depression and cell phone dependency was partially mediated by parenting style, not mediated by peer relationships. Based on these findings, further suggestions are provided to reduce adolescents' cell phone dependency by decreasing parent's over-involvement and improve adolescents' self control opportunities.

  • The objective of this study is to explore the structural relationships between positive parenting style, self-efficacy, stress, depression, and school adjustment of adolescents. The data in this study used from the 2010 Korea Youth Health Status Survey(N=7,187). To explore these relationships between each variable showed in this study model, structural equation modelling(SEM) was carried out by using IBM SPSS AMOS Ver. 19.0. The main findings of this study are as follows; Firstly, The positive parenting style made a positive effect on self-efficacy, and reduced the stress and depression, eventually affected school adjustment positively. Secondly, the more self-efficacy, and the less stress and depression. And the more self-efficacy, and the more school adjustment. Thirdly, as considering the indirect effect of positive parenting style on school adjustment through the mediating variable as self-efficacy, positive parenting style is more important variable than any other factors. These results implies that positive and intimate parent-children relationships or parenting attitudes on adolescents are necessary highly.

  • The purposes of this study were to examine the influence of the self-identity, parenting style, peer attachment, and relationship with teacher on career identity, and to verify if self- identity shows the moderating effect in the relationship among the parenting style, peer attachment, relationship with teacher, and career identity of middle school students. The data of 3rd-year middle school students, from the 1st grade panel of 'Korea Children And Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS)' by National Youth Policy Institute, was used as the analysis data. The program which was used for the analysis was SPSS ver 22.0 for descriptive, Cronbach's α, and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study are as follows. First, it was revealed that the most influential variable for career identity was self identity, followed by peer attachment, while relationship with teacher is least influential. Parenting style did not have a direct effect on career identity. Second, it was revealed that self-identity had a moderating effect when the interaction between parenting style and the self-identity, and the interaction between relationship with teacher and the self-identity were injected. Therefore, if the education related to the self-identity is conducted continuously in the home economics subject, the conflict and anxiety on the career problem of middle school students will be reduced and the career identity will be developed more effectively.

  • This study recognizes that the externalizing problem behaviors of child with disabilities are the result of the social interaction between mother and child, and empirically verifies its systematic causal structure and multidimensional influence relationship. It was attempted to derive practical implications that can help the smooth normalization process of children's families. Therefore, 135 children with disabilities and their mothers selected by convenience sampling were targeted, and in the relationship between maternal overprotective parenting and externalizing behaviors of child, effortful control was used as a mediating variable, and defense style of mothers and children was used as a moderating variable. A Conditional Process Analysis(CPA) that can verify the moderated mediation Effect was performed by establishing a research model. As a result of the analysis, first, the overprotective parenting behavior of mother was statistically significant in both direct and indirect effects in increasing externalizing behaviors of child, and the mediation effect by effortful control was also statistically significant. Second, it was confirmed that the moderated mediation effect of effortful control by the mother's defense style was statistically significant, and the moderated mediation effect of effortful control by the child's defense style was not statistically significant. Based on the above results, assuming the importance of the influence of maternal parenting, a direct strategy for change in maternal overprotective parenting, child's Practical implications of parallel strategies with the tendency toward effective control and suboptimal strategies through the application of mothers' coping strategies were discussed.
