We report a preliminary fMRI evidence of modulation of somatomotor areas by acupuncture in GB34 acupoint. GB34, located in the back of the knee, is known to be effective in recovering motor function after stroke. Using 3T MR scanner, functional MR imaging was performed in five normal volunteers in two stimulation paradigms; acupuncture manipulation on GB34 and sham points. Group analysis from five individuals showed that bilateral sensorimotor areas (BA 3,4,6 and 7) showed stimulation related BOLD signal contrast of approximately 6％ whereas very few areas were activated when sham stimulation is given. Our results suggest that acupuncture fMRI study can be safely conducted in 3T environment, and stimulation in GB34 modulate the cortical activities of the somatomotor area in human.

Recently, there are two big paradigm shifts in the global electric power industry. First, the maintenance practice is gradually moved from time-based activities to reliability-centered activities. On the other hand, asset management is emerging as a new framework to maximize the efficiency of investments. The two paradigms are mutually exclusive in natural. Thus the power utilities usually chose the investment alternative on the basis of reliability in the past. But today's changed business environment - competition -requires the power utilities to compromise the trade-off of reliability effects and economics of investments. This paper shows what and how to interpret the reliability effects of distribution system investments into financial indicators beneficial for power utilities's managers to make decision on the perspective of corporate value.

Cognitive models of panic disorder have emphasized cognitive distortions' roles in the maintenance and treatment of panic disorder (PD). However, the patient's difficulty with identifying and managing emotional experiences might contribute to an enduring vulnerability to panic attacks. Numerous researchers, employing emotion processing paradigms and neuroimaging techniques, have investigated the empirical evidence for poor emotion processing in PD. For years, researchers considered that abnormal emotion processing in PD might reflect a dysfunction of the frontal-temporal-limbic circuits. Although neuropsychological studies have not provided consistent results regarding this model, a few studies have tried to find the biological basis of dysfunctional emotion processing in PD. In this article, we examine the possibility of dysregulation of emotion processing in PD. Specifically we discuss the neural basis of emotion processing and the manner in which such neurocognitive impairments may help clarify PD's core symptoms.

Due to change in management environment and paradigms, companies need to the open management system that provides information for real-time costing, customer satisfaction, decision making support, responsibility management etc. We are not ready to implement this system yet. But we must introduce a new management system, i.e., ABMS(Activity- Based Management System) on the basis of the ARC(Activity-Based Costing) by development of production/information technique. This paper realizes foundational concepts of Activity and ABC, reestablishes the concept of ABC correctly and expands ABC for ABMS. Thus this paper is useful for ABMS modeling, leading competitors, total productivity improvement and strategic management for the best quality and service.

As the paradigm of fashion retail industry moves rapidly to the multi-channel, the role of shop master has changed as well. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine in-depth the changing role of shop masters in multi-channel retail paradigms. In-depth interviews were conducted, and all interviews were recorded with permission. Seven shop masters participated in in-depth interviews. All of them were sales specialists, with more than 10 years working experience, at department stores. Results of this study are as follow: First, the roles of a multi-channel shop master include store management, management of sales associates, customer relationship management, and management in relation to the headquarters and suppliers. Second, the most important competencies of shop masters are to forecast future demand, establish information networks, communicate well with others, and create a work environment resulting in higher productivity.

This study aims to explore the understanding of and the interest in realistic digital contents and examine their effectiveness, by implementing and applying VR around the science subject in middle schools. It organized each group of two for cooperative activities, in order to implement VR for 52 middle school students located at Y-county, who understood study contents and agreed to participate in the study. Then, it implemented and applied realistic digital contents regarding a change in the science geosphere and many kinds of forces, by extracting and designing them. As they implemented and applied VR around contents interest in science subject. VR assisted lessons made statistically significant differences in understanding and effectiveness of realistic digital contents. It will provide basic data used to cultivate future talents who can prepare for a change in the educational paradigms along with the fourth industrial revolution and adapt to the future knowledge-based society.

Internet of Things (IoT) technology has been recently utilized in diverse fields. Smart city is one of the IoT application domains with a lot of research topics and which is operated by integrated IoT applications. In this paper, diverse kinds of solutions, processes, and frameworks to address the existing challenges in information technology are introduced. Such solutions involve various future track topics including blockchain, security, steganography, optimization, machine learning, smart system, and so on. In the subsequent paragraphs, we describe each topic in a summarized way in terms of the existing challenges and their solutions. Specifically, this paper introduced 18 novel and enhanced research studies from different countries in the world. We present diverse kinds of paradigms to subjects that tackle diverse kinds of research areas such as IoT and Smart City, and so on.

This paper shows that novel engineering (NE) is a creative learning process (CLP) based on Seymour Papert's constructionism. First, the paper introduces NE, CLP, and constructionism. Next, a sample NE lesson is explored. NE is an innovative way of integrating literacy into an engineering discipline that was developed by the Center for Engineering Education and Outreach (CEEO) at Tufts University. NE consists of seven steps: picking a book, identifying problems, designing solutions, building, feedback, upgrading solutions, and reconstructing stories. Lifelong Kindergarten by Mitchel Resnick of the MIT Media Lab describes CLP, and the four elements necessary for a lesson to be creative. NE can be viewed as one of the most creative, comprehensive learning models ever developed. NE integrates several paradigms in Korea, following all the constructs of both CLP and constructionism. The aim of this paper is to show that NE is based on both CLP and constructionism.

Smart systems and services aim to facilitate growing urban populations and their prospects of virtual-real social behaviors, gig economies, factory automation, knowledge-based workforce, integrated societies, modern living, among many more. To satisfy these objectives, smart systems and services must comprises of a complex set of features such as security, ease of use and user friendliness, manageability, scalability, adaptivity, intelligent behavior, and personalization. Recently, artificial intelligence (AI) is realized as a data-driven technology to provide an efficient knowledge representation, semantic modeling, and can support a cognitive behavior aspect of the system. In this paper, an integration of AI with the smart systems and services is presented to mitigate the existing challenges. Several novel researches work in terms of frameworks, architectures, paradigms, and algorithms are discussed to provide possible solutions against the existing challenges in the AI-based smart systems and services. Such novel research works involve efficient shape image retrieval, speech signal processing, dynamic thermal rating, advanced persistent threat tactics, user authentication, and so on.

Cellular senescence, a process of cell proliferation arrest in response to various stressors, has been considered to be important factor in age-related disease. Identification of senescent cells in tissues is limited and the role of senescent cells is poorly understood. Recently however, several studies showed the characterization of senescent cells in various pathologic conditions and the role of senescent cells in disease progression is becoming important. Senescent cells are growth-arrested cells, however, the senescence associated secretory phenotype (SASP) of senescent cells could modify the tissues' microenvironment. Here, we discuss the progress and understanding of the role of senescent cells in tissues of pathologic conditions and discuss the development of new therapeutic paradigms, such as senescent cells-targeted therapy.
