  • In this paper, we develop the Hipass antenna that is used in electronic tall-gate charging (ETC) system in Korea expressway. This antenna has circular polarized characteristics, and especially has 45 degree tilted beam properties. These properties are very effective in ETC communication between the vehicle antenna and the tall-gate antenna. To achieve these properties on a small microstrip type antenna structure, we propose a annular ring microstrip antenna with stubs. When the length and angle of stubs are changed, the direction of the circular polarized beam is generally tilted by $45^{\circ}$ in elevation angle. Especially, by using the stubs in inner area or outer area of ring antenna, it is found that the beam direction of in azimuth angle can be rotated.

  • An antenna tracking technique, referred to as "step track", is commonly used in communication applications. In this paper, an algorithm to improve the step-tracking technique for satellite tracking is proposed. We suggest a method by which the antenna scans the azimuth, detects the satellite signal without the position information, and points quickly to the direction receiving the signal of peak level. After reaching the peak level, the step-track system maintains enough signal levels to receive satellite broadcasting normally. Performance of the Tracking Algorithm proposed in this paper are verified with simulation.

  • This paper presents a compact ultra-wideband (UWB) flexible monopole antenna design on a paper substrate. The proposed antenna is made of iterations of a circular slot inside an octagonal metallic patch. This fractal-based geometry has been deployed to achieve compactness along with improved bandwidth, measured reflection coefficient -10 dB bandwidth ranging from 2.7 to 15.8 GHz. The overall size of the antenna is $26mm{\times}19mm{\times}0.5mm$, which makes it a compact one. The substrate used is paper and the main features like environment friendly, flexibility, green electronics applications and low cost of fabrication are the key factors for the proposed antenna. The aforementioned UWB prototype is suitable for many wireless communication systems such as WiMAX, WiFi, RFID and WSN applications. Antenna has been tested for the effect of bending by placing it over a curved surface of a very small radius of 10 mm.

  • This paper presents antenna selection schemes for recently proposed quadrature spatial modulation (QSM) systems. The antenna selection strategy is based on Euclidean distance optimized antenna selection (EDAS). The symbol error rate (SER) performance of these schemes is compared with that of the corresponding algorithm associated with spatial modulation (SM) systems. It is shown through simulations that QSM systems using EDAS offer significant improvement in terms of SER performance over SM systems with EDAS. Their SER performance gains are seen to be about 2 dB-4 dB in $E_s/N_0$ values.

  • This paper investigated that resonant frequencies of microstrip patch antenna were frequency aigle when PZT were used as the antenna substrates. The resonant frequencies of the antenna using the piezoelectric substrate were able to be controlled by applied voltage. The frequency variation of the air gap antenna was 16MHz when the voltage variation was 12[KV/cm].

  • In this paper we discussed the theoretical antenna factor of a cylinderical dipole antenna. The Current distribution on a dipole antenna was analyzed by the method of moment, and this solu- tion is used for calculating the effective length and antenna factor of the half-wave dipole in free space.

  • In this paper, a rectangular patch antenna is miniaturized by changing tile middle of patch into narrow microstrip line except the edges of the patch where the fringing field occurs. Miniaturizing rate, gain, radiation patterns of suggested antennas were compared with general square microstrip antenna by using simulator Ensemble. As a result, it reduces the size of antenna by 30% and improves the characteristic of X pol as a advantage while it reduces gain and bandwidth.

  • This paper proved experimentally that the disc array microstrip antenna designed and manufactured at X-band is capable to use for wide band antenna. This antenna arrayed the discs to have different resonant frequencies log-periodically on printed circuit board. The experimental result of this antenna showed the flat gain and good impedence matching characteristics. The VSWR of this antenna is 2.2 below through the system band.
