  • The purpose of this study was to derive association between company's fringe benefits and retirement planning. The study analyzed the 2016 Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing(KLoSA) and a total of 1,740 participants was included. To analyze the relationship between the number of the company's employee fringe benefit and the retirement planning, multiple logistic regression was conducted. As a result, we found multiple variables affecting the retirement planning including not only the number of the fringe benefits, but also the age, marital status, residence, private health insurance status, and subjective health status. Successful retirement planning for wage workers benefits not only the individuals or government, but companies also gain benefits such as improved productivity of workers and a better corporate image, so further research is needed on the effective implementation of the system, and the role of government to support this.

  • Smart TV is rapidly growing with the provision of OTT services, and has become an alternative to pay-TV services. Yet smart TV in Korea has been diffused slowly, and thus few research has paid attention to smart TV. With the global growth trend of smart TV, research on smartTV, focusing on users' characteristic and their behaviors, is critical to explain smart TV's usage. To employ the Mediapanel dataset, this study explores the impact of smart TV users' demographic factors and their pay-tv usage on smart TV usage. The results suggested that age, the type of household, household income, and market size are associated with smart TV usage. Pay-TV usage, specifically IPTV subscription and VOD expenses, have impacts on smart TV usage. Lastly the interaction effect between IPTV subscription and movie VOD expenses, has negatively associated with smart TV usage. This study may bring to re-attention to smart TV and to give insights into the industry field.

  • This study was conducted to explore the relationship between social status and happiness in the virtual world, which was not dealt with in previous studies. In addition, this study checked whether people were interested in social status itself or social status growth according to their level of happiness. To this end, the researcher composed conditions of high and low social status, and conditions of large and small growth in social status in online games, and presented them differently depending on the participant. Next, the researcher measured how much happiness level changed before and after exposure to each condition. As a result, happy participants had less of an effect of status on happiness in online games. However, unhappy participants were found to be happy when their status in online games was high and unhappy when they were low. Happy participants also paid attention to whether their status in online game had grown. However, unhappy participants paid attention to their high and low status in online games. This study has implications in that it is a rare study on the effect of happiness on the judgment of social status in the virtual world.

In this circumstance, the user participation at a usability testing phase is relatively active. However, the usability testing in the controlled laboratory has some drawbacks. for stance, It needs a lot of money, efforts, and time. Most of all, it is difficult to collect a vast range of data and gain a fast feedback Recently, to overcome these difficulties mentioned above, international usability testing has been applied. Especially, usability testing Contents through Internet is considered most effective one. Because it has a lot of merits such as easiness of collecting remote user, simplicity of collecting data, cost effectiveness and so on. With these merits, this study takes advantage of using a WWW to carry out usability test and to collect remote usability data. And a website was development for posting computer simulated product so that the remote users can test its usability through internet.

  • Since current paid video contents have a security vulnerability, anyone can obtain the information of video contents. In this paper, we analyze current video encryption methods which are used commercially to prevent illegal downloading movies. And we propose an address encryption method which can encrypt and decrypt video contents in program itself. In the performance evaluation, we compare the proposed method with the conventional method to show the improvement of security with the reduced delay for encoding and decoding through encryption.

  • This study performed GIS and statistical analyses on the location and spatial characteristics of the slum in Daejeon. Spatial data of 648 slum residents in Daejeon were collected and 131 residents among them were surveyed. The results showed the trends of higher rent, lower social exclusion and closer neighboring relations in slum center than the surrounding areas, which could be interpreted as the interrelated multilateral effects of the micro- (housing), meso- (relations), exo- (community) and macro- (government policy) systems. The strong bonds among neighbors and various supports from social service facilities elevated the slum area's rent and diminished residents' social exclusion more than housing conditions (for instance, poor hygiene and low safety). Slum tenants willingly paid a premium for their substandard housings and refused moving to governmentally provided modern housing units. In urban development, administrative authorities need to be cautious about slum uprooting. Much rather an alternative renewal approach is needed which protects the slum's intimate relations while improving its overall living standards.

  • This exploratory study examines the critical factors associated with news consumers' perception of information overload and news consumption patterns. An online survey was conducted with Qualtrics panels (N = 1001). The demographics and three antecedent factors of perceived information overload were considered including the frequency of news access through multiple media platforms, level of attention to news, and interest in news. Three news consumption patterns were investigated as possible consequences of perceived information overload: news avoidance, selective exposure, and willingness to pay for news. The results of hierarchical regression analyses revealed a meaningful distinction between general and news information overload. Overall, news consumers who paid more attention to news through newer media/platforms/devices perceived higher levels of information overload, were more willing to pay for the news, and often avoided news or selectively exposed themselves to certain sources of news to manage news information overload.
