  • In this paper, we propose a QoS-aware efficient bandwidth re-provisioning scheme in a next generation wireless packet transport network. At the transport network layer, it classifies the traffic of the radio network layer into a real time class and a non-real time class. Using an auto-regressive time-series model and a given packet loss probability, our scheme predicts the needed bandwidth of the non-real time class at every re-provisioning interval. Our scheme increases the system capacity by releasing the unutilized bandwidth of the non-real time traffic class for the real-time traffic class while insuring a controllable upper bound on the packet loss probability of a non-real time traffic class. Through empirical evaluations using the real Internet traffic traces, our scheme is validated that it can increase the bandwidth efficiency while guaranteeing the quality of service requirements of the non-real time traffic class.

  • With the economical data service delivery, the packet transport network (PTN) technologies have emerged as an important player in the next-generation transport networks. As the PTN continues to make such considerable progress, it is being challenged by network providers who need rapid and reliable recovery capabilities to guarantee the availability of their services. This paper introduces several fault detection mechanisms for a client signal failure in packet transport networks and proposes a reliable transmission method of IP flows from routers using the combination of Ethernet services. Based on the first fault detection methods, client signal fault is detected within tens or hundreds of milliseconds. It enables the client network devices to perform their own recovery processes within one second. The second mechanism enables failed Ethernet services to be bypassed via other Ethernet services over disjoint paths, so as to contribute on reducing packet loss of IP traffic.

  • Multicast protocols are efficient methods of group communication, but they do not support the various transmission protocol services like a reliability guarantee, FTP, or Telnet that TCPs do. The purpose of this dissertation is to find a method to utilize sewer routers to form multicasts that can simultaneously transport multicast packets and TCP packets. For multicast network scalability and error recovery the existing SRM method has been used. Three packets per TCP transmission control window size are used for transport and an ACK is used for flow control. A CBR and a SRM is used for UDP traffic control. Divided on whether a UDP multicast packet and TCP unicast packet is used simultaneously or only a UDP multicast packet transport is used, the multicast receiver with the longest delay is measured on the number of packets and its data receiving rate. It can be seen that the UDP packet and the TCP's IP packet can be simultaneously used in a server router.

  • This paper implements Message Service of TCN or IEC 61375-1. TCN is divided into two services, Variable and Message Service. Variable Service uses the broadcasting method with Source Address, but Message Service uses peer-to-peer method with Destination Address and has OSI 7 Layer. In TCN, interface between Transport and Network Layer has not been defined and Meaning of Packet Pool has not been defined exactly. Therefore, this paper proposes the Implementation method for both the interface between Transport and Network Layer and the packet pool for Message Service of TCN.

  • In this paper, a new data frame structure for wavelength routing in optical ring access network(ORAN) is designed and the functions of each field in the frame are defined. In addition, the IP packet transmission to the network layer corresponding to the newly proposed structure of the protocol stack is newly presented. Tha data transmission protocol design techniques of ORAN was proposed. IP packet and broadcasting packet transmission within the sub-network, and the IP packet transmission to other sub-network was shown through the process illustration. In the process, the encapsulation and framing process of the wavelength information to routing has been described in detail. And each step takes place in a packet transfer process is demonstrated. A ring type optical access network protocol is not yet research field. ORAN data transfer protocol to send/receive module structure of a subscriber node and a control node of the two rings which analyzed the results are shown. The high-speed Internet solution is proposed that by using wavelength routing the packet transport protocol for ORAN is designed.

  • A goal of a BISDN network is to provided integrated transport for a wide range of applications such as teleconferencing, Video On Demand etc. There require multipoint communications in addition to conventional point-to-point connections. Therefore multicast capabilities are very essential in multimedia communications. In this paper, we propose a new multicast cell scheduling method on the Parallel Multicast Packet Switch with Ring network: PMRN which are based on separated HOL. In this method, we place two different HOLs, one for unicast cells and the other for multicast cells. Then using non-FIFO scheduling, we can schedule both unicast cells and multicast cells which are available at the time in the input buffer. The simulation result shows that this method reduces the delay in the input buffer and increases the efficiency of both point-to-point network and ring network and finally enhances the bandwidth of the overall packet switch. • Wireless mesh network is similar to ad-hoc network, so when transferred to the data packet in the wireless environment, interfered factor arise. When TCP(Transport Control Protocol) was created, however as it was design based on wired link, wireless link made more transmission error than wired link. It is existent problem that TCP unfairness and congestion collapse over wireless mesh network. But packet losses due to transmission errors are more frequent. The cause of transmission error in wireless ad-hoc network may be inexactly regarded as indications of network congestion. And then, Congestion Control Algorithm was running by this situation causes the TCP performance degradation. In this paper, proposed TCP can adaptively regulate the congestion window through moving node in the Wireless Mesh Network. And it enhanced the performance.

  • In this paper, we propose an effective network-adaptive ARQ based error control scheme to provide video streaming services through IP networks where packet error usually occurs. If time delay and feedback channel are allowed, client can request server to retransmit lost packets through IP networks. However, if retransmission is unconditionally requested without considering network condition and number of simultaneous feedback messages, retransmitted packets may not arrive in a timely manner so that decoding may not occur. In the proposed ARQ, a client conditionally requests retransmission based on assumed network condition, and it further determines valid retransmission time so that effective ARQ can be applied. In order to verify the performance of the proposed adaptive ARQ based error control, NIST-Net is used to emulate packet-loss network environment. It is shown by simulations that the proposed scheme provides noticeable error resilience with significantly reduced traffics required for ARQ.

  • Recently, transport layer mobility supporting approaches based on SCTP, which is a new standard transport layer protocol, are proposed. In this paper, the handover performance and overheads of these transport layer mobility supporting approaches are compared to those of the traditional network layer mobility supporting approaches. Through the simulation results, it is shown that the handover performance of the transport layer mobility supporting approaches is better or at least similar to that of the plain MIPv6, which is the representative network layer mobility supporting approach. With respect to the amount of control packet, the transport layer approaches impose less overhead than any of the network layer approaches.
