  • Multihop data delivery in vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) suffers from the fact that vehicles are highly mobile and inter-vehicle links are frequently disconnected. In such networks, for efficient multihop routing of road safety information (e.g. road accident and emergency message) to the area of interest, reliable communication and fast delivery with minimum delay are mandatory. In this paper, we propose a multihop vehicle-to-infrastructure routing protocol named Vertex-Based Predictive Greedy Routing (VPGR), which predicts a sequence of valid vertices (or junctions) from a source vehicle to fixed infrastructure (or a roadside unit) in the area of interest and, then, forwards data to the fixed infrastructure through the sequence of vertices in urban environments. The well known predictive directional greedy routing mechanism is used for data forwarding phase in VPGR. The proposed VPGR leverages the geographic position, velocity, direction and acceleration of vehicles for both the calculation of a sequence of valid vertices and the predictive directional greedy routing. Simulation results show significant performance improvement compared to conventional routing protocols in terms of packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay and routing overhead.

  • To resolve inefficient content delivery mechanism in conventional internet-based networks, Content-Centric Networks (CCN) has been proposed for wired and wireless networks. One of issues in wireless CCN-based networks is overhead to achieve reliability on content delivery because CCN uses end-to-end two-way handshake with Interest/content packets. In this paper, a novel protocol to reduce overhead and achieve reliability is proposed. The protocol allows Interest packet to request multiple data packets and multiple data packets to be sent in a row without a Interest packets. The protocol is evaluated through the simulations and the performance improvement is proved.

  • While single-user spatial multiplexing multiple-input multiple-output (SU-MIMO) allows spatially multiplexed data streams to be transmitted to one node at a time, multi-user spatial multiplexing MIMO (MU-MIMO) enables the simultaneous transmission to multiple nodes. However, if the transmission time required to send packets to each node varies considerably, MU-MIMO may fail to utilize the available MIMO capacity to its full potential. The transmission time typically depends upon two factors: the link quality of the selected channel and the data length (packet size). To utilize the cumulative capacity of multiple channels in MIMO applications, the assignment of channels to each node should be controlled according to the measured channel quality or the transmission queue status of the node.A MAC protocol design that can switch between MU-MIMO and multiple SU-MIMO transmissions by considering the channel quality and queue status information prior to the actual data transmission (i.e., by exchanging control packets between transmitter and receiver pairs) could address such issues in a simple but in attractive way. In this study, we propose a new MAC protocol that is capable of performing such switching and thereby improve the system performance of very high throughput WLANs. The detailed performance analysis demonstrates that greater benefits can be obtained using the proposed scheme, as compared to conventional MU-MIMO transmission schemes.

  • As noted in the various USN service implementations including those in U-City, the reliable data transmission has become the essential component as the USN services are getting more various. The assurance of the reliability is needed sometimes prior to other QoS specifications of the USN services. The efficiency would become more important as well in USNs because the efficient and reliable delivery of a packet could be consequently linked to the energy saving. This paper is intended to provide the performance comparisons of data delivery schemes in USNs.

  • The MPEG-2 video compressed bitstream is very sensitive to transmission errors due to the complex coding structure of the MPEG-2 video coding standard. If one packet is lost or received with errors, not only the current frame will be corrupted, but also errors will propagate to succeeding frames within a group of pictures. Therefore, we employ various error resilient coding/decoding techniques to protect and reduce the transmission error effects. Error concealment technique is one of them. Error concealment technique exploits spatial and temporal redundancies of the correctly received video data to conceal the corrupted video data. Motion vector recovery and compensation with the estimated motion vector is good approach to conceal the corrupted data. In this paper, we propose various error concealment algorithms based on motion vector recovery, and compare their performance to those of conventional error concealment methods.

  • Sensor networks are vulnerable to data congestion and hot-spot compared with wireless networks. Mobile sink supporting route protocol has such problems as hot-spot and data congestion because agent of cluster node transmits all data packet. Therefore, mobile sink supporting route protocol needs to reduce the number of packets and keep the packets from concentrating on a single node. To solve these problems, we propose mobile sink supporting routing Protocol using agent of cluster node. Cutting down on the number of packets compared with the existing mobile sink supporting routing Protocol, our proposed protocol has reduced both communication overhead and energy consumption.

  • An ATM/AAL2 is standardized to transmit delay sensitive application services, which has small size packet, efficiently. An AAL2 transmission scheme is used to deliver voice and data traffic on the lob interface between base station (Node-B) and Radio Network Controller (RNC) in UMTS network. To predict AAL2 performance, a detailed end-to-end UMTS network performance simulator was developed. We performed detailed simulation(cell packing density and bandwidth gain) for voice and data services in UTRAN. The results indicate that the maximum bandwidth gain in Node-B is about 17% and the bandwidth gain of AAL2 multiplexing in $I_{ub}$ for data services is less than that for voice service. Futhermore, the more offered load increase the more the bandwidth gain decreases in a concentrator.

  • Recently, with increasing scale of internet of Things (IoT), a large amount of data are generated and various services using such data are emerging. Therefore, a protocol suitable for IoT environment that can efficiently process / transmit big data is needed. MQTT is a lightweight messaging protocol for IoT environment. Although MQTT protocol can use TLS to provide security, it has a problem in that handshake and packet overhead will increase when TLS is used. Therefore, this paper proposed as Secure_MQTT protocol. It can provide stronger security by using lightweight encryption algorithm for MQTT protocol.

  • Telemetry processing system requires minimum bit transition level in data streams to maintain a bit synchronization while receiving telemetry signal. PN code has a capability of providing the bit transition and is widely used in the packet communication of CCSDS. CCSDS PN code that generator polynomial is $h(x)=x^{8}+x^{7}+x^{5}+x^{3}+1$, and the random bit sequence that is generated from this polynomial is repeated with the cycle of 255 bits. As the resolution of satellite image increases, the size and transmission rate of data increases. To process of huge and bulky size of satellite image, the speed of CCSDS PN Processing is very important. This paper introduces the way of improving the CCSDS PN Processing speed through processing 128 bits at one time using the feature of cyclic structure that repeats after first 255 bytes by grouping the random bit sequence with 1 byte and Intel Streaming SIMD Extensions 2. And this paper includes the comparison data of processing speed between SSE2-applied implementation and not-applied implementation, in addition, the measured value of speed improvement.
