제형별 오존 free 플라즈마 안정도 검토 (Stability Review of Formulations Produced with Ozone Free Plasma)

  • 오존은 무색의 독성 가스로, 질소 산화물과 탄화수소가 태양 광선에 의해 광화학 산화 반응이 일어나면서 생성된다. 낮은 농도여도 호흡기 기관에 영향을 주고, 기침 또는 인체에 해롭다. 화장품 원료 중 질소 플라즈마에서 오존이 생성되는 것을 확인하였고, 1 day 후부터 오존의 농도가 낮아짐을 알 수 있었다. 반면 아르곤 가스로 발생된 오존 free 플라즈마는 오존이 검출되지 않았다. 따라서 오존 free 플라즈마를 활용하여 오존 free 화장품의 제조를 목표로 하였다. 효율적인 플라즈마 처리를 위해 non-sinking 법을 활용하여 층분리 미스트, 토너와 앰플에 주입하고, 안정도를 관찰하였다. 층분리 미스트에서 플라즈마의 주입 성공량이 두 제형보다 많았으나, 토너와 앰플에 비해 급격히 감소함을 확인할 수 있었다. 사용된 오존 free 플라즈마는 저온(4 ℃), RT (25 ℃), 고온(37 ℃, 50 ℃) 조건에서 층분리 미스트, 토너와 앰플의 안정도에 영향이 미치지 않는 것을 확인하였다. 따라서, 본 연구는 오존 free 플라즈마의 제형별 화장품 가능성과 안정성의 중요성을 시사하고 있다.

토마토 오존처리에 의한 에틸렌 생성과 가시 장해 발현과의 관계 (Ethylene Evolution in Tomato Plants by Ozone in Relation to Leaf Injury)

  • The relationship between ozone-induced damages and ethylend evolution was examined in tomato plants fumigated with ozone of 0.2 $\mu\ell/\ell$. The rate of evolution of ethylent by tomato plants was enhanced by ozone fumigation. Pretreatment of leaves with aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG), an inhibitor of ethylene evolution, significantly inhibited the evolution of ethylene that was induced by ozone and concomitantly reduced the extent of ozone-induced visible damage to leaves. Treatment with 2,5-norbonadiene (NBD), and inhibitor of the action of ethylene, strongly reduced the extent of visible damage caused by ozone, even though it did not suppress the evolution of ethylene. These results indicated that ethylene might play an important role in ozone-induced plant injuries at relatively short terms of ozone fumigation. Next, we examined the effect of tiron, a scanvenger of the free-radical, on evolution of ethylene and leaf injury caused by ozone. Tiron treatment strongly reduced the extent of ozone-induced injury, but had not inhibitory effect on the evolution of ethylene from tomato leaves. This result suggests the involvement of free-radical, such as superoxide radicals, in induction of injuries caused by ozone.

Surface Ozone Episode Due to Stratosphere-Troposphere Exchange and Free Troposphere-Boundary Layer Exchange in Busan During Asian Dust Events

  • The current paper reports on the enhancement of O$_3$, CO, NO$_2$, and aerosols during the Asian dust event that occurred over Korea on 1 May 1999. To confirm the origin and net flux of the O$_3$, CO, NO$_2$, and aerosols, the meteorological parameters of the weather conditions were investigated using Mesoscale Meteorological Model 5(MM5) and the TOMS total ozone and aerosol index, the back trajectory was identified using the Hybrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory Model(HYSPLIT), and the ozone and ozone precursor concentrations were determined using the Urban Ashed Model(UAM). In the presence of sufficiently large concentrations of NO$\sub$x/, the oxidation of CO led to O$_3$ formation with OH, HO$_2$, NO, and NO$_2$ acting as catalysts. The sudden enhancement of O$_3$, CO, NO$_2$ and aerosols was also found to be associated with a deepening cut-off low connected with a surface cyclone and surface anticyclone located to the south of Korea during the Asian dust event. The wave pattern of the upper trough/cut-off low and total ozone level remained stationary when they came into contact with a surface cyclone during the Asian dust event. A typical example of a stratosphere-troposphere exchange(STE) of ozone was demonstrated by tropopause folding due to the jet stream. As such, the secondary maxima of ozone above 80 ppbv that occurred at night in Busan, Korea on 1 May 2001 were considered to result from vertical mixing and advection from a free troposphere-boundary layer exchange in connection with an STE in the upper troposphere. Whereas the sudden enhancement of ozone above 100 ppbv during the day was explained by the catalytic reaction of ozone precursors and transport of ozone from a slow-moving anticyclone area that included a high level of ozone and its precursors coming from China to the south of Korea. The aerosols identified in the free troposphere over Busan, Korea on 1 May 1999 originated from the Taklamakan and Gobi deserts across the Yellow River. In particular, the 1000m profile indicated that the source of the air parcels was from an anticyclone located to the south of Korea. The net flux due to the first invasion of ozone between 0000 LST and 0600 LST on 1 May 1999 agreed with the observed ground-based background concentration of ozone. From 0600 LST to 1200 LST, the net flux of the second invasion of ozone was twice as much as the day before. In this case, a change in the horizontal wind direction may have been responsible for the ozone increase.

오존 처리가 폴리에틸렌 필름의 염색성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Ozone Treatment on Dyeability of Polyethylene Film)

  • 오존 처리된 저밀도 폴리에틸렌 (LDPE) 필름의 표면 작용기와 표면 자유에너지에 대하여 고찰하였다. 오존 표면처리 조건을 각각 처리시간, 오존 생산량, 그리고 오존의 농도로 변화시켰으며, 오존 처리된 LDPE 필름 표면에 도입된 작용기는 FTIR-ATR과 XPS 분석을 통하여 알아보았다 LDPE 필름의 표면 자유에너지는 접촉각 측정을 통하여 고찰하였다. 실험결과, 오존으로 표면처리된 LDPE 픽름은 표면에 형성된 산소 함유 작용기로 인하여 물 접촉각이 15$^{\circ}$ 정도 감소하였고, 그 결과 표면 자유에너지의 증가및 $O_{IS}$ / $C_{IS}$ 의 증가를 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 표면 자유에너지와 산소 함유 작용기는 오존 표면처리 시간과 오존의 농도에 비례하는 관계를 보인 반면, 오존의 총 발생량의 변화는 표면 자유에너지 및 $O_{IS}$ / $C_{IS}$ 의 증가와는 무관하였다. Kubelka-Munk 식을 이용한 염색성 측정 결과로부터, 오존 표면처리는 LDPE 필름 표면에 산소 작용기를 형성시키는데 중요한 역할을 하는 것을 확인할 수 있었으며, 최종 염기성 염료에의 염색성을 향상시켰다.

Numerical and Experimental Analyses Examining Ozone and Limonene Distributions in Test Chamber with Various Turbulent Flow Fields

  • Indoor ozone has received attention because of its well-documented adverse effects on health. In addition to the inherently harmful effects of ozone, it can also initiate a series of reactions that generate potentially irritating oxidation products, including free radicals, aldehydes, organic acids and secondary organic aerosols (SOA). Especially, ozone reacts actively with terpene. The overarching goal of this work was to better understand ozone and terpene distributions within rooms. Towards this end, the paper has two parts. The first describes the development of a cylindrical test chamber that can be used to obtain the second order rate constant $(k_b)$ for the bi-molecular chemical reaction of ozone and terpene in the air phase. The second consists of model room experiments coupled with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis of the experimental scenarios to obtain ozone and terpene distributions in various turbulent flow fields. The results of CFD predictions were in reasonable agreement with the experimental measurements.

  • Ozone(O$_3$), one of best-known toxic air pollutant, act as a strong oxidant. It is possible that skins exposed to the air can be easily damaged by such oxidative air pollutants. Therefore, in the present study, anti-oxidative effects of natural product. on $O_2$ㆍ and ㆍOH were investigated by EPR. Ozone caused protein damage and lipid oxidation, in HaCaT and B16F10 leading ultimately to programmed cell death. It also reduced the level of antioxidant molecules including ascorbic acid and tocopherol in stratum comeum. However, antioxidants originated from natural products could protect skin from these products could protect skin from these oxidative damages. We concluded that eight natural extracts including Rosa davurica, Ligularia sibrica, Green tea acted as strong antioxidants against ozone.

  • 수경재배지 폐양액 내 Phytophthora spp.는 일차적인 전염원이며 배양액 재사용 시 전염이 더욱 확산될 수 있다. 오존은 농업용수 및 지하수 살균을 위해 산업적으로 이용하여 왔으나 수경 재배지에서 폐양액 살균 후 재활용 목적으로 충분한 연구는 수행되지 못하였다. 본 연구에서는 폐양액 내 존재하는 4종의 Phytophthora spp.에 대하여 살균 목적으로 오존 처리 시간을 $1{\sim}9$분까지 구분하여 처리하였다. 폐양액 내 오존 7분 이상(농도 1.4 mg/l) 처리에서는 처리 시간에 관계없이 시험균주 4종 모두에서 매우 높은 살균력을 나타낸 반면 5분(농도 1.2mg/l) 이하의 저농도 처리는 충분한 살균력을 나타내지 못하였다. 한편, 7분 이상 고농도($1.4{\sim}1.7mg/l$)로 살균 처리된 폐양액을 P. nicotianae가 생장중인 배양접시에 처리한 결과 일부 배지 속 깊게 생장중인 균사체까지 살균력이 미치지 못하였다. 따라서, 본 연구 결과 완전한 폐양액 살균을 위해서는 오존 살균과 더불어 균사체 덩어리 또는 이병 잔재물을 제거할 수 있는 필터 방식과의 병행이 바람직하다.

Disinfection Effect of Chlorine, Chlorine Dioxide end Ozone on Total Coliform in Water

  • This research was to determine and compare the inactivation of total coliform as the indicator organism with chlorine, chlorine dioxide and ozone for drinking water treatment. The inactivation of total coliform was experimentally analyzed for the dose of disinfectant, contact time, pH, Temperature and DOC. The experiments for the characterization of inactivation were performed in a series of batch processes with the total coliform as a general indicator organism based on chlorine, chlorine dioxide and ozone as disinfectants. The nearly 2.4, 3.0, 3.9 log inactivation of total coliform killed by injecting 1mg/L at 5 minutes for chlorine, chlorine dioxide and ozone. For the inactivation of 99.9%, Disinfectants required were 1.70, 1.00 and 0.60 mg/L for chlorine, chlorine dioxide and ozone, respectively. The bactericidal effects of disinfectants were decreased as the pH increased in the range of pH 6-9. The influence of pH change on the killing effect of chlorine dioxide was not strong, but that on ozone and free chlorine was sensitive. The bactericidal effects of the disinfectants were increased as the temperature increase. The activation energies were 36,053, 29,822, 24,906 J/mol of chlorine, chlorine dioxide, ozone for coliforms. The inactivation effects were shown in the lowest order of chlorine, chlorine dioxide and ozone.

장기간의 오존조사와 식이요인이 생쥐의 폐와 간조직의 치질과산화에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Long-Term Ozone Exposure and Dietary Factors on Lipid Peroxidation in Lung & Liver Tissues of Mice)

  • 장기간의 연속적 오존조사와 식이항산화제 및 식이지방의 불포화도가 생쥐의 폐와 간조직의 지질산화에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 실험동물들은 각각 0.25ppm, 0.50ppm의 오존 또는 정상적 대기환경에서 18개월간 식이항산화제의 수준과 식이지방의 불포화도를 달리한 실험식이들에 의해 사육되었으며 조직의 지질과산화의 정도는 Thiobarbituric acid 반응물질의 농도와 free malonaldehyde의 농도에 의해 측정되었다. 본 연구의 결과, 장기간의 오존조사는 실험식이의 종류에 관계없이 폐조직과 간조직의 지질과산화를 유도하지 않음이 발견되었으며 식이중 비타민 E의 함량과 조직 의 지질과산화생성물의 농도와는 역의 관계를 나타냈고 적절한 식이비타민 E 의 첨가(30ppm)는 식이지방의 불포화도에 관계없이 조직의 지질과산화를 억제하는데 효과적임에 관찰되었다.

Comparison of Physicochemical and Sensory Properties of Freeze-concentrated Milk with Evaporated Milk during Storage

  • This study was carried out to compare the changes of nutrients, sensory and chemical properties of freeze-concentrated and evaporated milks during storage. For pasteurization, the freeze-concentrated milk containing 27% of total solid was treated with 150 rpm ozone for 5 min, and 99% of microflora was eliminated. Also, the activities of protease and lipase decreased 93.31% and 96.15%, respectively, and phosphatase showed negative activity. Total bacteria count was maintained below$2.0{\times}10^4$CFU/ml. During storage, TBA absorbance was lower in freeze-concentrated milk than that in the evaporated milk. The production of short-chain free fatty acids and free amino acids increased proportionally to the storage period in both samples. While the short-chain free fatty acid production was lower in the freeze-concentrated milk compared with that in the evaporated milk, the production of individual free amino acid was similar in both samples. In sensory evaluation, cooked flavor and color were much lower in the freeze-concentrated milk than that in the evaporated milk. Overall acceptability score was higher in the freeze-concentrated than the evaporated milk. Based on above results, ozone treatment for the freeze-concentrated milk pasteurization was positive at the elimination of microflora and enzyme inactivation. During storage, the freeze-concentrated sample minimized the change of color and TBA absorbance, the production of short-chain free fatty acid and vitamins than the evaporated milk. Therefore, the freeze-concentrated milk process in the present study resulted in the positive effect in minimizing nutrient loss and keeping quality of milk during storage.
