This Qualitative nursing research used a hermeneutic phenomenological approach to discover meaning in an self-transcendence experience. The ultimate aim of the inquiry was to discover the essence of self-transcendence experience and to promote understanding. The study used van Manen's Methodology of phenmonological research. Multiple strategies for data collecting were utilized : in depth face-to-face interview and analysis of elders' literature. The following themes of experience emerged : Accepting becoming older as a natural phenomenon, transferring to one's own sons' and daughters' oriented life. Maintaining harmonious relationship with neighbors and peer, observing real situations with silence, forming internal integrity with perseverance, compromising own's real situation, actualizing one's death, giving up roots of life, depending on God and conforming to human limitation. From this study essential themes for understanding self-transcendence experience and needs for continuing inquiry were identified.
For an appropriate assessment in mathematics, students should play an active role in their learning by becoming aware of what they have learned in mathematics and by being able to assess their attainment of mathematical knowledge. The process of actively examining and monitoring students' own progress in learning and understanding of their mathematical knowledge, process, and attitude is called self-assessment, Researchers in mathematics education have found some important facts about the meta-cognitive process which is related to self-assessment : i. e. meta-cognition progress is composed of being aware of ones' own personal thinking of content knowledge and cognitive process(self-awareness) and engagement in self-evaluation. Tipical method for self-assessment in mathematics developed upon above finding about meta-cognitive progress is describing about students' knowledge and their problem solving strategies. In the beginning of the description in mathematics about themselves, students are required to answer which part they know and which part they don't know. Self-assessment of students' attitudes and dispositions can be just as important as assessment of their specific mathematical abilities. To make the self-assessment method a success, teachers should let students' have confidence and earn their cooperation by let them overcoming fear to be known the their ability to other students. In conclusion, self-assessment encourages students to assume an active role in development of mathematical power. For teachers, student self-assessment activities can provide a prism through which the development of students' mathematical power can be viewed.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the mediating effect of life attitude on the relationship between appearance satisfaction and self-efficacy of college students. Methods: The data from 223 college students (K-do and -city) highly interested in body and appearance, and were analyzed by three-step mediation analysis and Sobel test. Results: The mediating effect of life attitude was significant on the relationship between appearance satisfaction and self-efficacy. Namely, there was a mediating effect meaning the higher the appearance satisfaction, the more positive the attitude of life and the more self-efficacy. It was simultaneously found that the appearance satisfaction had a direct influence on self-efficacy. Conclusions: In summary, appearance satisfaction and self-efficacy act as internal factors that motivate individual self-development and the smooth adaptation of university life by changing own behavior. Accordingly, an education program should be devised to help college students form their own regular and correct lifestyles, which will also contribute to the improvement of self-efficacy of college student.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify and understand the self-directed learning patterns of nurses. Q methodology was used to collect the data. Method: For the research method, 43 Q-statements were collected through individual interviews and a review of related literature. The 43 Q-statements were classified by the 34 participants in the study and the data was analyzed by the PC-QUANL program with principal component analysis. Result: There were 4 different patterns of self-directed learning classified as follows : Nurses in Type I the Future Provision Type, studied to promote their own professional development and leadership qualities for the future. Nurses in Type II, the Learning Passion Type, enjoyed learning something new and had a strong learning desire. Nurses in Type III, the Self-reflective Type, continuously evaluated self and their own practice by introspection. Nurses in Type IV, the Accompanying Companion Type, studies with companion support and maintained a collaborative relationship rather than competing with each other. Conclusion: This study explains and allows us to understand self-directed learning in nurses. Thus this study will contribute to building a theoretical base for the development of a self-directed learning model in nursing practice.

This research was conducted to provide basic document on efficient health promotion behavior program that elementary school students can use from elementary school course to enhance health promotion behavior for healthy life by checking out the degree of the most influential factor for health promotion behavior about elementary school students who establish lifelong health habit, and by checking out the relation between the degree of self-efficacy and health promotion behavior. The number of subjects of this research was 598. They were all elementary school students from the sixth grade students of the 5 cities of the Kyeong Nam province. We conducted questionnaires and did statistical analyses by using 592 papers which were suitable for date analyses with SPSS. The conclusions were as follows; A. The degree of self-efficacy The degree of self-efficacy of elementary school students was more than average. The degree of self-efficacy on physical activity was the highest and the degree of self-efficacy on self-fulfillment was the lowest. The degree of self-efficacy of girl students was comparatively higher than that of boy students. When their parents got higher education, made a lot of money and kept harmony with their children, the degree of self-efficacy became high. Furthermore, when their parents or themselves have a lot of interest in health, they feel that they are healthy, and they feel that they are satisfied with their bodies, the degree of self-efficacy was high too. B. The degree of health promotion behavior Although the degree of health promotion behavior of elementary school students was a bit lower than the degree of self-efficacy, it was higher than average. The degree of health promotion behavior on physical activity was the highest. But the degree of health promotion behavior on health of their own was the lowest. The degree of health promotion behavior between girl students and boy students was the same. C. The relation between self-efficacy and health promotion behavior When the degree of self-efficacy was high, the degree of health promotion behavior was high too. So there was high positive relationship between self-efficacy and health promotion behavior. Physical activity showed the highest relationship. The order of strong relationship run as follows. Relationship with others, self-fulfillment, management of stress. The higher self-efficacy which was a recognizable factor on health behavior, the higher the degree of health promotion behavior. It is being revealed that many modem chronic diseases are cause by accumulated careless attitude on harmful health habit and lack of self-control. The behavior of keeping healthy and enhancing health is more firm when they have high self-efficacy which is believing their own conviction. So, When we teach elementary school students health promotion education at school, we should try to enhance their own self-efficacy rather than just instill simple information about health. By doing so, we can help them change their attitude on health. Then, they could enjoy life-long healthy life.
This study explored pre-service English teachers' participation in the development of a rubric and examined evaluation of their own English poetry. The current study would investigate: 1) the pre-service English teachers' perception as a rubric developer and self-evaluator, 2) the number of analytic area that the participants included in their rubrics and the scoring scheme that they designed in their rubrics, and 3) the inter-rater differences between self-assessemnt and expert-assessment across analytic areas. Twenty-four EFL learners participated in the current study. The researchers analyzed the learners' own English poetry, their field notes which contained the process of their writing, their rubrics, scores of self-assessment, and expert raters' scores. The results revealed that learners showed positive responses on learner-directed assessment, that 'content' is the most important area, and that inter-rater difference is small across all analytic areas.
This paper addresses the central issue of whether it is effective for a firm to discourage the purchase of its own product in order to support a social cause. The objectives of this study were: a) to examine whether a cause-related self-prevention ad would stimulate more positive evaluations compared to promotional ad, particularly when the product category is more negatively socially accepted; and 2) to determine if a negative attitude toward the product could induce a boomerang effect of a selfprevention ad. Results from three experiments revealed that socially responsible prevention campaigns against firm's own product may be more effective for the product category negatively associated with social concerns or welfare. If products are more limited in the social context, communications of product prevention are beneficial to improve the public image of the brand. However, the self-hurting approach may be inappropriate for potential customers who currently possess a strong negative attitude toward the product.
As teachers' competency is evaluated based on their teaching performance. pre-service teachers need to have an opportunity to reflect on themselves by systematically analyzing and evaluating their own lesson planning and teaching performance through self-assessment. In this study, we aimed to examine what evaluation criteria for lesson planning and teaching performance pre-service mathematics teachers consider in the process of self-assessment. This study used a mixed-methods research design. To draw the self-evaluation criteria for lesson planning and teaching performance, pre-service self-reported assessments were analyzed using qualitative analyses. In addition, descriptive statistics were used to investigate the pre-service teachers' distribution across the criteria and check the ratio of pre-service mathematics teachers for each element. As a result, it was disclosed that pre-service mathematics teachers considered eight elements in self evaluating their own lesson planning and teaching performance. In addition, we found that pre-service mathematics teachers tended to consider Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) more than Subject-Matter Knowledge (SMK). Moreover, the results of this study provide educational implications for the curriculum in the pre-service teacher's education program.
Objective: This study examined the effects of maternal grandmothers' positive parenting behavior and mothers' self-differentiation and positive parenting behavior on self-concept in late childhood. Methods: A total of 341 $5^{th}$- and $6^{th}$- grade elementary school children and their mothers participated in the study. Children were surveyed regarding perceptions of their mothers' positive parenting behavior and their own self-concept. Mothers responded to questionnaires regarding both positive parenting behavior of their mothers and their own self-differentiation. The data were analyzed using SEM. Results: Maternal grandmothers' positive parenting behavior had an indirect effect through mothers' self-differentiation and positive parenting behavior on children's self-concept. Mothers who perceived positive parenting behavior in their mothers in their childhood showed positive parenting behavior (as perceived by their children), and those children reported a higher level of self-concept. Mothers who perceived their mother's parenting behavior in their childhood more positively reported a higher level of self-differentiation, and those mothers showed more positive parenting behavior (as perceived by their children), which led to more positive self-concept in children. Conclusion: The findings specify the pathways from maternal grandmothers' positive parenting behavior to children's self-concept through mothers' self-differentiation and positive parenting behavior in an aspect of the intergenerational transmission of parenting. The findings also emphasize the importance of mothers' positive parenting behavior for positive self-concept in late childhood.
In "Adventure" Alice Hindman tries to express her repressed sexual instinct with impulsive adventures but becomes a grotesque through her own self-deception and extreme loneliness. She has a passionate relationship with Ned Currie at 16, which defines her identity and molds her entire life. She does believe that Ned may return and stick to his disingenuous word and promises, and holds on to it as the only and absolute truth in her life. Her distortion of reality is in fact based on her self-deception and falsehood she creates. Seized by a strange urge, her second adventure indicates that she wants to feel closer to another grotesque that can understand her loneliness, and that her desire for communication transcends her sexual desire. At the end of the story, she seems to realize that she will die in her bed alone, misunderstood and unloved. But this conclusion shows that, despite the opportunity and potential of another choice, she never makes positive choices and refuses to accept responsibility for her actions. She rather creates an excuse with empty words and shows the limits so as not to get out of her own self-deception. Instead of focusing on Alice's strange behavior and blaming her, Anderson emphasizes the importance of understanding and communication while exploring the sorrow and loneliness of a woman who wants to be loved but is obsessed with self-deception in Winesburg.
