해외 특허출원이 한국 제조업 기업 수출과 매출에 미치는 영향 실증분석 (Patenting abroad and its effects on exports and sales in Korean Manufacturing firms)

  • With the advent of a recent knowledge-based society, interest in patents is steadily increasing. The patent is an important indicator that can capture the level of R&D investment and technology development. In an era of deepening new protectionism and the pandemic of COVID-19, patents play an important role in sustainable economic development and establishing a strong domestic industrial ecosystem. In this paper, we analyze the impact of patent applications on the corporate performance of the Korean manufacturing industry over the past 21 years from 1999 to 2019. We divide patents into overseas patents and domestic patents and analyze the respective effects on the entire manufacturing industry, ICT industries, and non-ICT industries. Major findings are summarized as follows. First, patents have a positive effect on both exports and sales of Korean manufacturing companies. Second, overseas patents have a greater impact on corporate performance than domestic patents. Third, Patents have a more positive effect on ICT industries than on non-ICT industries.

Overseas Research Trends Related to 'Research Ethics' Using LDA Topic Modeling

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to derive clues about the development direction of research ethics and areas of interest which has recently become a social issue in Korea by confirming overseas research trends. Research design, data and methodology: We collected 2,760 articles in scienceON, which including 'research ethics' in their paper. For analysis, frequency analysis, word clouding, keyword association analysis, and LDA topic modeling were used. Results: It was confirmed that many of the papers were published in medical, bio, pharmaceutical, and nursing journals and its interest has been continuously increasing. From word frequency analysis, many words of medical fields such as health, clinical, and patient was confirmed. From topic modeling, 7 topics were extracted such as ethical policy development and human clinical ethics. Conclusions: We founded that overseas research trends on research ethics are related to basic aspects than Korea. This means that a fundamental approach to ethics and the application of strict standards can become the basis for cultivating an overall ethical awareness. Therefore, academic discussions on the application of strict standards for publishing ethics and conducting researches in various fields where community awareness and social consensus are necessary for overall ethical awareness.

계층분석과정(AHP)을 이용한 해외 한식당 브랜드 커뮤니케이션 전략의 우선순위 결정 (Application of Analytical Hierarchy Process in Strategy Priority Decision-making for Brand Communication by Korean Restaurants Overseas)

  • This study presents the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) as a potential decision-making method for obtaining the relative weights of alternatives through pairwise comparison in the context of hierarchical structure. The aim of this study was to elicit prior strategies for brand communication for Korean restaurants overseas. We created a questionnaire and surveyed experts at government agencies, restaurant companies, and universities from October to November 2011. By applying the pairwise comparison matrix, relevance was perceived as a more important strategy evaluation criteria than effectiveness or urgency. The highest-ranked strategy was the 'Identification of the BI and positioning of Korean restaurants' followed by 'Development of Korean food content for overseas promotion', 'Development of locally customized Korean food recipes and new Korean menus', 'Development of marketing communication strategies for Korean restaurants by countries', and 'Development of Korean restaurant differentiation strategies'. The results of this study can be used for effective Korean food globalization by enhancing the competitiveness in the world market.

제조업의 국제화가 국내고용에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 : 일본제조업 사례를 중심으로 (Impact of Internationalization of Manufacturing Industries on the Domestic Labor Market: The Japanese Manufacturing Industry)

  • Purpose - This study aims to seek various plans to maintain the advancement of the overseas and domestic employment scenario through a case analysis of the Japanese industry, which maintains domestic employment while promoting the overseas advancement of companies despite having a similar industrial structure as Korea. The study further intends to derive insightful implications for Japanese manufacturing companies and government policies. Research design, data, and methodology - We selected four companies from the Japanese manufacturing industry. Being companies that were successful in increasing the domestic employment scenario while advancing in overseas markets. We utilized several secondary data sources including Japanese newspapers and report literature. Results - Previous studies have shown a negative relationship between Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) or offshoring and domestic employment. However, our results showed this relationship with respect to the Japanese manufacturing industry as follows: 1. FDI for developing overseas markets does not decrease domestic production. If Japanese companies change their strategy from exports to overseas production, there will be a consequent decrease in domestic employment of Multinational Enterprises (MNEs). However, the local production that plans the sales expansion of a foreign market does not substitute domestic production. 2. Several case studies illustrate that, as the production of final goods is expanded in foreign countries, there is a corresponding increase in the export of intermediary goods from Japan. In this case, if the production process of Japanese companies is promoted in foreign markets, the amount of exported material and parts from Japan will consequently increase. 3. It is difficult to consider that the establishment of subsidiary companies in foreign countries by manufacturing companies for wholesale, retail, and services decreases domestic employment. This is because the international development of these industries needs expatriates, expatriate training organizations, and research and development (R&D) activities. 4. When there is overseas demand, the growth of local management activities is expected to increase the work of the overseas business department in the head office in Japan, if competitiveness can be secured for better localization and management speed. 5. The conversion of the domestic manufacturing industry into high value-added production is necessary. The relocation of domestic production to foreign markets decreases domestic employment. To prevent this, the upgradation of domestic production bases, including high value-added production, and R&D capability need to be strengthened. Technology-based companies must develop new technology, patents, processes, and so forth, which require extensive human resources for R&D. Conclusions - Domestic medium-sized companies that are capable of consistently supplying high value-added products should be actively encouraged to deploy into and develop overseas markets. Further, this paper considers the necessity of a guidance policy that provides suggestions for overseas deployment, by the initiation of the government, to companies that cannot do so due to the lack of foreign experience or decisions by the CEO, despite having the relevant capability and technologies to supply high value-added products.

  • Overseas construction industry has performed the leading role in the economic development. In this study, effect of international oil prices, GDP and price index, on the regional international construction contract amount is compared and analyzed. Overseas construction market received a devastating effect due to the 1997's economic crisis. However, the market has remained stable since 1998, and since 2005, the trend has been a surge in new orders.

해외도시개발 지원 종합정보시스템 구축방안 (Construction of Information System for Promoting Overseas Urban Development)

  • 본 논문은 해외도시개발 활성화와 효율적 추진을 위한 지원방안으로 기존의 산발적으로 분포하고 있는 정보들을 체계화 한 종합정보시스템 구축방안을 마련하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 해외도시개발 관련 현행 정보시스템과 민간기업의 수집정보를 분석하였다. 국내 유관기관에서 운영하고 있는 정보시스템의 경우 정보공유 방식과 인적네트워크 구축 및 사업절차에 대한 내용이 부족한 것으로 나타난 반면, 해외도시개발사업을 주로 발주하는 기관들은 대부분 관련 전문가와 사업 참여자 및 그들이 참여한 사업정보를 제공하고 있었다. 한편, 민간기업의 경우 수집되는 정보가 국가현황, 발주정보, 기본적인 법제도 수준으로 실제 사업을 추진하는 과정에서 필요한 세부적인 정보의 습득에는 제약이 있었다. 둘째, 종합정보시스템에서 제공되어야 할 정보를 선정하고 정보수집 방안을 제시하였다. 현행 정보시스템과 민간기업의 수집정보를 유형화하여 해외도시개발사업 추진시 필요한 정보를 크게 국가개황, 경제정보, 산업정보, 투자정보, 법률정보, 사업정보, 인적네트워크의 7개 부문으로 구분하고, 이들 부문에 대한 세부항목을 설정하였다. 그리고 해외도시개발 전문가, 민간기업 실무자 등의 의견을 반영하여 정보의 우선순위를 도출한 바, 사업정보와 인적네트워크 부문이 가장 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 종합정보시스템 목표모델을 수립하고 제도개선 방안을 도출하였다. 해외도시개발 정보를 분류하고, 분류된 정보를 연계하고, 정보제공 채널을 통해 서비스하는 3단계로 시스템을 체계화하고, 여기에 종합정보시스템의 비전 및 목표, 단계별 구축계획을 종합하여 목표모델을 제시하였다. 또한 인터넷건축행정정보시스템(세움터), 택지정보체계, 보금자리통합정보체계 등 유사 사례 검토를 통해 종합정보시스템을 효과적으로 구축하기 위한 제도개선 사항을 제시하였다.

실시간 온라인 금융솔루션 수출을 위한 지급결제프레임워크 (Payment Settlement Framework for Exporting Real-Time Online Financial Solution)

  • Korean small and medium sized software companies have tried to export their solutions or services to overseas markets. In 2016, exports of the software industry increased by 6.0% from the previous year, and the value added of the industry was 2.2 times higher than that of the manufacturing industry. From a long-term perspective, it is important to secure a global competitive advantage in order to sustain the export high value-added of the software industry. The obstacles to entry into the overseas market of small to medium enterprises are as follows: first, difficulty in product development and localization of marketing; second, lack of investment for overseas expansion; and finally, competitiveness of software technology. In particular, To overcome such obstacles, Korean small and medium sized software companies should increase the technical perfection and secure software export competitiveness. The paper presents a payment settlement framework enabling adaptive reuse and semiautomatic development of global payment settlement services. The quantitative and qualitative evaluation results are presented with domestic and overseas case studies as follows: Firstly, semi-automatic development is realized successfully by applying the framework. Secondly, it is possible to maintain consistent quality of software and to deliver maintenance services without relying on the internal human resources. Thirdly, it is possible to reduce the project duration of the same development cope to less than 50% by applying the framework. Finally, because it is based on BPMN 2.0, which is a high level design diagram, it is expected that it will be easy to implement through components connection and reduce difficulties in technology transfer and localization. Also, at the time of runtime operation, it will be effective to understand the design idea easily and to carry out additional developments without human resource who participated in the initial project.
