Work-related Stress, Caregiver Role, and Depressive Symptoms among Japanese Workers

  • Background: In Japan, more than 60% of employees are reported to suffer from anxiety and stress. Consequently, Japanese society has begun to address such important issues as psychogenic disability and job-related suicide. Furthermore, given the aging of society and the surge in the number of elderly people requiring care, it is necessary to adequately and proactively support employees who care for their elderly relatives. The purpose of the present study was to investigate caregiver burden in caring for elderly relatives and work-related stress factors associated with mental health among employees. Methods: We studied 722 men and women aged 18-83 years in a cross-sectional study. The K10 questionnaire was used to examine mental health status. Results: The proportion of participants with a high K10 score was 15% (n = 106). Having little conversation with their supervisor and/or coworkers significantly increased the risk of depression [odds ratio (OR) 1.8], as did high job overload (OR 2.7) and job dissatisfaction (OR 3.8), compared with employees who frequently conversed with their supervisor and/or coworkers. Caring for elderly relatives as a prominent characteristic of an employee was a significant risk factor for depression (OR 2.1). Conclusion: The present study demonstrated that employees who were caring for elderly relatives were significantly associated with an increased risk of depression. To prevent depressive disorders, it may be important to focus on reducing the work-caregiving role conflict, as well as enhancing employees' job control and better rewarding their efforts in the workplace.

  • 전자금융 시대를 살고 있는 지금 안전한 전자금융거래를 위해 금융감독기관의 규제가 지속적으로 강화되고 있다. 하지만 규제를 준수해야 하는 약 4,500여개 금융기관의 수에 비해 정보보호컨설팅 및 정보보호서비스 사업자의 수가 턱없이 부족하고 감독기관의 물리적 감독업무에도 상당한 업무부담이 과중되고 있다. 날로 실시간 리스크관리의 요구가 강해지고 있는바 본 논문을 통하여 규제준수에 관해 요건, 이행, 모니터링, 감독 등의 업무를 효율적으로 하기 위해 필요한 기술적 접근을 시도하고 시스템 기반의 컴플라이언스 매니지먼트를 위한 요소항목을 도출하고자 한다. 본 연구는 금융IT 컴플라이언스 매니지먼트 프레임워크와 GRC 프로세스 모델을 기반으로 연구하였고 연구결과 컴플라이언스 매니지먼트 라이프사이클과 각 라이프사이클에 따른 34개의 컴플라이언스 매니지먼트 인덱스를 설계하였다.

간호원이 근무중에 경험하는 스트레스 측정을 위한 도구개발 연구 (The Development of the Stress Measurement Tool for Staff Nurses working in the Hospital)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose the baseline data for developing the stress measurement tool for staff nurses working in the hospital. Two hundred and fifteen stan nurses in Seoul National University Hospital were participated during the period from Feb. 28 to Mar. 10, 1984. Though the pretest and literature review a questionnaire was constructed with 63 stressors which were experienced by the nurses in the hospital. Subjects were given instruction to rate 1∼6 likert type scale according to the level of stress experienced by each stressor described. Reliability of the tool was tested by Cronbach's Alpha, and the result was α=0.94871. Factor analysis was applied to organize 63 items together. As the result, 15 factors were obtained and these factors explained 66.3% of variance. The 15 factors were: 1) Work overload 2) Role conflict as a profession 3) Lack of professional knowledge and skill 4) Interpersonal problem 5) Conflict in nurse doctor relationship 6) Work conflict with doctors 7) Emotional burden due to the limitation of medicine 8) Poor treatment 9) Unsatisfactory relationship with supervisor 10) Low reward 11) Unsatisfactory relationship with subordinate 12) Poor physical environment of unit 13)Responsibility for extra affairs 14)Unfamiliar situation 15)Night duty.

Operators that Reduce Work and Information Overload

  • The "information roadway" will give us an impact of new PC based assignments and administrations, yet the unusualness of this new condition will ask for another style of human-PC association, where the PC transforms into a sharp, dynamic and customized partner. Interface administrators are PC programs that use Artificial Intelligence frameworks to give dynamic help to a customer with PC based errands. Operators drastically change the present client encounter, through the similitude that a specialist can go about as an individual collaborator. The operator procures its capability by gaining from the client and from specialists helping different clients. A couple of model administrators have been gathered using this methodology, including authorities that give customized help with meeting planning, electronic mail taking care of, Smart Personal Assistant and choice of diversion. Modelling the factors affecting Quality of Life among Indian police officers: a novel ISM and DEMATEL approach

  • Background: This study examines quality of life (QOL) of a sample of police officers in India. The concept of QOL includes well-being, social obligations, relationships of a person, and his association with environment. The study examines the factors on which QOL of police officers depend and their relationships with each other. The issues linked with QOL are important because they directly affect the individual's ability to maintain a healthy lifestyle and affect organizational performance in the long run. This study explores relevant factors that have an impact on the QOL of the employees of police department in India. Method: In this paper, literatures review, ISM, MICMAC, and DEMATEL methodology have established eleven factors that impact the QOL of police officers in India. Mutual relations between factors have been established using the ISM approach to develop a model to represent these relationships. DEMATEL methodologies were used to analyze these factors. Results: Results indicate that "fair compensation, work overload, workplace safety, and job stress" are the top-level factors that affect QOL of police officers. Conclusion: The identification of factors and their mutual relationships that affect QOL are important for police officers and have to be dealt with according to their order of importance. The research model developed in this study shows how the factors of police officers' QOL are interrelated and presents the interrelationships among these factors. A comprehensive model depicting the relationships among these factors has been established, so that the QOL of police officers can be improved.

  • 스마트기기는 업무의 시공간적 제약을 줄이고 신속한 처리를 가능하게 함에 따라 업무 효율성 및 생산성에 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있는 반면에, 직장과 개인생활 간 불균형 초래로 인한 부작용이 뒤따를 수 있다. 최근 스마트기기의 업무활용이 증가하면서 그 어느때보다도 관련 현상의 이해와 원인 발견, 그에 맞는 적절한 방안들을 모색하는 것이 필요한 상황이다. 본 연구는 스마트기기의 효용성을 대표하는 기술적 특성('IT기반 업무 유연성')이 '일-삶 갈등'과 같은 부정적인 결과로 어떻게 전환되는지를 보여주는 이론적 모델을 개발하고 이를 검증하였다. 직장인을 대상으로 수집된 데이터를 분석한 결과, 주요 요인들('IT기반 업무 유연성', '근무시간 외 업무 유연성', '업무 과부하', '일-삶 갈등') 간 다양한 영향 관계, 그리고 ''일-삶 분리' 조직 지원'의 중요성과 관련하여 연구자는 물론이고 현업 종사자와 정책 입안자들에게도 의미있는 시사점이 도출되었다.

군 직무특성 및 개인 학습민첩성과 학습만족도 간의 관계 연구 (A Study on the Relationship between Job Characteristics and Individual Learning Agility and Learning Satisfaction)

  • 학습민첩성은 새로운 환경과 경험 속에서 빨리 학습하여 생각과 행동을 유연하게 변화시키는 의지와 능력이고, 위기를 극복하고 조직의 문제를 해결하는 핵심역량이며, 언제든지 개발 가능하기 때문에, 군(軍)과 같은 조직 집단에서 활용할 수 있는 개념이다. 선행연구를 토대로 육군 간부의 직무특성과 개인학습민첩성이 학습만족도에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 연구를 진행하였다. 상·원사 216명을 대상으로 설문을 받아 SPSS 24.0을 이용하여 측정변인에 대한 신뢰도과 타당도를 검증하고, 가설에 대해 회귀분석으로 검증한 결과, 직무특성 하위항목 일부(업무과부하)가 부적인 영향을 미치며, 개인 학습민첩성 하위항목 일부(자기인식, 적극적 변화추구)는 학습만족도에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 군 사이버교육의 효과를 증진하기 위해서는 야전에서 업무가 과부하되지 않도록 조치하고, 군 조직에서 성과를 높이기 위해서는 자기인식 및 피드백을 바탕으로 적극적인 변화를 추구하는 개인 학습민첩성을 개발해야 함을 의미한다.

4M 기법을 활용한 전기화재 예방대책 수립 연구 (A Study on the Establishment of Preventive Measures for Electric Fires Using the 4M Technique)

  • The purpose of this study is to reduce the probability of occurrence of electric fires as a preemptive preventive measure, and to strengthen the capability of preventing electric fires by strengthening the cooperative function between electric fire-related departments and establishing a cooperative system. In this study, the general aspects of electric fires were identified by reviewing the literature such as ignition mechanisms of electric fires. And the major electrical fires that occurred in the last 10 years were classified into ignition factors (short circuit, overload/overcurrent, and earth leakage/ground fault) and ignition sources (wiring/wiring appliances, electrical equipment/household appliances). And the 4M technique was used to analyze the potential causes of ignition at the fire site and to suggest preventive measures. In the case In this study, out of 48 electrical fires in the past 10 years, 16 short-circuit fires, 3 overload/overcurrent fires, 3 short-circuit and earth fault fires, 16 fires in wiring/wiring appliances, and 10 fires in electrical equipment/home appliances classified as cases. And prevention measures were presented in terms of human, machine, media, and management by using the 4M technique. For the preemptive prevention of electric fires, strengthening the compulsory electrical safety inspection and making it mandatory to report when new or expanding electric facilities, charging a fee for electric safety inspection for detached houses and granting benefits subject to inspection completion, improvement of the electric safety voluntary inspection table and safety indications; It was suggested as a policy to organize and operate electrical safety inspection personnel in a two-person team (mixed), establish a close work cooperation system with related organizations, and strengthen electrical safety education and publicity.

사무직 직급에 따른 직무스트레스에 미치는 요인 (Comparison of Job Stressors between Managers and Employees in White-Collar Workers of an Electric Company)

  • Objectives : This study was intended to investigate the differences of job stressors between managers and low level employees among white-collar workers. Another objective of this study was to examine whether the effects of job stressors on mental health differ between the two groups. Methods : Data was obtained from 204 managers and 258 low level employees who were employed in white-collar jobs. Fourteen job stressors and seven job stress variables were measured. Results : Among the 14 job stressors, role overload, job insecurity, and work-family conflict were higher job stressors for the manager group whereas role conflict, work-aptitude incongruity, participation in decision making, and promotion problems were higher job stressors for the low level of employees. There were no differences in job stress scores between the two groups. However, differences in the effects of job stressors on job stress were found between the two groups. For the manager group, job insecurity, work-aptitude incongruity, and work-family conflict significantly affected in explanation of job stress whereas for the low level employees, role underload, peer satisfaction, and environmental problems significantly explaining the job stress variables. Conclusions : There were significant differences in job stressors between managers and low level employees among white-collar workers. Additionally there were differences in the effects of job stressors on job stress between the two groups.

주민자치센터의 주거복지 전달체계 구축 연구 - 인천시를 중심으로 - (A Study for Establishing the Housing Welfare Delivery System in Incheon)

  • The purpose of this study was to establish the housing welfare delivery system in Incheon. Documentary research and content analysis methods and survey were used in this study. Data drawn from internet homepage of each community center, gu-office and city hall in Incheon. The major results of this study are as follows. 1) Related works of housing welfare are housing welfare facility management, self helf center, support service of housing life, residential environment management 2) Housing welfare delivery system consists of city, gu-office, community center order. There are many problems that the lack of experts and department of housing welfare and inconsistent works. 3) There should be optimize the related works of housing welfare in order to increase of efficiency of works and to prevent overload to public servant. 4) Housing welfare delivery system needs to co-work through collaborative network in order to realize welfare society. And each main groups have to establish their horizontal relationships.
