This work has been investigated in order to study the influence of the moisture absorption on the mechanical pf the glass fiber/epoxy resein composites and the carbon fiber/epoxy resein composites. The types of glass fiber used in the glass fiber/epoxy resein composites were randomly oriented fiber and plain fabric fiber. And carbon fiber.epoxy resein composites was laminated with fabric prepreg which was formed with carbon fiber and epoxy resein. Both composites were immersed up to 100 days in distilled water at $80^{\circ}C$, and then dried up to 3 days in an oven at 80$80^{\circ}C$. Both composites were measured for the weight gain of water(wt.%) and tensile strength through immersion and dry time. Consequently, it was found that the tensile strength of thw glass fiber/epoxy resein composites and the carbon fiber/epoxy resein composites were reduced proportionally to the moisture absortion rate. Also, the tensile strength of glass fiber composites was decreased more than that of the carbon fiber composites. Additionally, it was found that the tensile strength of all composites which decreased by moisture absorption were partly recovered by drying in an oven at 80$80^{\circ}C$.
This study aimed at exploring the effect of presoaking degree of lightweight aggregate (LWA) on the fresh and hardened properties of concrete. Two series (i.e., Series A and Series B) of concrete mixes that were made of LWA with different moisture states were prepared. The presoaking degree of LWA was divided into three types: oven dry state, 1 hour prewetted and 24 hours prewetted. For the Series A, the water content of the lightweight aggregate concrete (LWAC) mixes was adjusted in accordance with the moisture condition of the LWA. Whereas the amount of water added in the Series B mixes was deliberately not adjusted for the moisture condition of the LWA. Slump test, mechanical tests, interfacial transition zone microscopical tests and thermal conductivity test were carried out on the specimens of different concretes and compared with control normal-weight aggregate concretes. The test results showed that the effect of mixing water absorption by LWA with different moisture states was reflected in the fresh concrete as the loss of mixture workability, while in the hardened concrete as the increase of its strength. With the use of oven-dried LWA, the effect of reduction of water-cement ratio was more significant, and thus the microstructure of the ITZ was more compact.
PEG (Polyethylene glycol) impregnation in wood reduces the occurrence of checking during kiln drying. The volumetric shrinkages of wood PEG impregnated by pressure (PEG-P) or soaking (PEG-S) methods, and oven-dried by vent (VD) or air-tight (AD) methods were measured and compared with the controls. The average oven-dry weight of PEG impregnated specimens was larger than that of the controls by 3.6 g, but was not influenced by the drying methods. The average of the total volumetric shrinkage of PEG-P-VD specimens was the least (2.3%), while that of CON-S-AD specimens was the largest (28.9%). Within a drying method the total volumetric shrinkage of the control was the largest followed by PEG-S and PEG-P specimens, which implied that residual PEG in wood restrained its shrinkage during drying.
The material of choice for functional and esthetic reconstruction of maxillofacial defects is silicone. Silicone has appropriate physical properties for maxillofacial prosthesis but it has weak edge strength. Therefore, a proper combination of silicone and polyurethane sheet is recommended to improve this weakness. Various primers are also used to enhance the adhesive strength between silicone and polyurethane sheet. The purpose of this study was to determine the adhesive strength of silicone and polyurethane sheet. Silicone elastomer mixture was made by admixing MDX4-4210 elastomer (40%) and Silastic Medical Adhesive Type A(60%). This silicone elastomer mixture was attached to polyurethane sheet, using one of three different primers(1205, S-2260, or A-304), treated for 1, 2, 4, 6, and 8 hours. These were then polymerized in room temperature, dry-heat oven or microwave oven. Six specimens per each group, a total of 270 specimens were prepared for final test. The differences of T-peel bonding strengths were then determined by a test. The differences of T-peel bonding strengths were then determined by a test method that was recommended by American Society for Testing and Materials C794-80. The results were statistically analyzed using the ANOVA and Mutiple Range Tests(Tukey' HSD). The reults were as follow. 1. Type of primer, primer reaction time, and methods of polymerization showed significant correlation on the T-peel bonding strengths in adhesiveness between silicone and polyurethane sheet. 2. A-304 primer showed statistically higher in T-peel bonding strength than otehr type of primers except for the polymerization in microwave oven with reaction times of 2, 6 hours(p<0.05). 3. No significant differences in T-peel bonding strength were observed among the polymerization methods. 4. The effect of reaction time by the primer type and polymerization method showed statistically significant differences in bonding strength among different reaction times. And in most cases, reaction time of 1 or 2 hours showed higher T-peel bonding strength.

Drying and curing characteristics of PCM resins using the induction heater and short-wave infrared emitter module was studied to develop a compact oven system for the high speed CCL and post-treatment equipment. Drying of the polyester resins using the induction heater and infrared heater showed that the blistering tendency of polyester resin coating increased regardless of additives and colors of resins as the heating rate and/or dry film thickness increased. The blistering of polyester resin coating layer occurred when the heating speed was over than $25^{\circ}C/sec$ for the dry film thickness of $19\~20um$, which is the typical thickness of finish coating in CCL. So did it when the heating speed was over than $40^{\circ}C/sec$ for the dry film thickness over than 10 um. The heating efficiency of paint coated steels by the infrared heating was strongly dependent on the colors of paint coating and generally increased for the dark surface and/or coating. But the faster drying of the PCM resin coatings increased the blistering tendency of coating layer. The blistering limit for the typical finish coating by the infrared heating was estimated as the heating rate slower than $20^{\circ}C/sec$ regardless of colors of PCM resins.

The variety of crystalline structure and mechanical properties of PP filament treated with dry heat treatment at different draw ratio has been studied. Crystalline structure and mechanical properties of annealed PP filament at different draw ratio has been examined by XRD, UTM, and density method. Heat treatment has been carried out $100^{\circ}C$, $120^{\circ}C$$140^{\circ}C$ for 30min. in dry oven. From the results of this study, it found the following facts. It was found that the crystallinity and crystallite size of (110) plane of sample were increased with increasing of annealed temperature and draw ratio. The crystalline form of annealed sample which was undrawn showed ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$ mixing form below $120^{\circ}C$ and showed ${\alpha}$ form at $140^{\circ}C$. But the crystalline form of annealed sample which was drawn showed ${\alpha}$ form at $120^{\circ}C$. Initial modulus and tensile strength were increased with increasing of annealing temperature, and the degree of orientation was decreased with decreasing of annealing temperature.
Red pine (Pinus densiflora) has been used for structural wood members of Korean traditional residence (HANOK) and historic wooden structures. For these constructions, generally, natural drying has conducted for long time; however, unless drying is conducted sufficiently, it could cause several drying defects such as check or warping. Shrinkage changes of red pine species for small clear specimens and big-size specimens according to the conditions of moisture contents, were examined. For the estimation of volumetric shrinkage at a special moisture content, it was more precise to divide the range of moisture contents into two groups, green to air-dry and air-dry to oven-dry. The volumetric shrinkage had no difference with specimen sizes in sapwood, but decreased as specimen size increased in heartwood.
To study tile comparison of aboveground biomass of Pinus rigida Mill. of 18-year-old, plantations located in Whaseong, Yuseong and Wanju district were selected. Ten sample trees in each district selected taking account of DBH distribution were felled carefully to minimize loss of branches and stem analysed by 1m lag segment sectioned from base . The tree height and DBH were measured for sample trees in total growing within $200m^2$ experimental plot. The diagram of oven-dry weight distribution of stem, branch and needle for each 1m segment was constructed. The logarithmic regression equations between dry weight of each component and the two variables, $DBH^2$ and tree height, combined term were presented. The standing crops in the sample stand was estimated to be as much as 23.88, 54.09 and 42.68 tons of dry matter, above ground , per ha in Whaseong, Yuseong anf Wanju district respectively. Annual net production was estimated at 253,657 and 3.65 tons per ha per year respectively. The net assimilation rate was 1.65,1.95 and 1.81 kg/kg/yr in Whaseong, Yuseong and Wanju district respectively. The efficency of leaf to produce stem was 0.99, 1.12 and 1.30 kg/kg/yr respectively.
Shale and mudstone in Daegu-Gyungbuk area have low strength and resistance to weathering compared to other rocks. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate their strength depending on the degree of saturation and crack development. In this study, shales and mudstones were collected from several construction sites in Daegu-Gyungbuk area. Their basic material properties such as porosity, SEM, chemical component, and durability were tested. A porosity (absorptivity) of mudstone was 31% (25%), which was 6 (8) times higher than that of shale. Some mudstone was easily disintegrated with water and it consisted of highly-active clay mineral such as smectite type. These rocks were prepared by small cube specimens for unconfined compression test. An unconfined compressive strength of dry rock was compared with saturated one. Microwave oven was operated step by step to stimulate void water within a saturated rock, which resulted into high temperature and micro crack initiation within rocks. A strength of microwaved rocks was compared with operation time and crack initiation. As a result, the average unconfined compressive strength of dry and saturated shale was 62 and 33 MPa, respectively. The strength of mudstone for each condition was 11 and 4 MPa. When a rock became saturated, its strength decreased by 47% and 64% for shale and mudstone at average. In addition to saturation, a rock was in the microwave for 15 secs, its strength decreased into 49% for shale and 52% for mudstone. When a microwave oven operated up to 20 sec, a rock was crushed into several pieces and its temperature was approximately 200 degrees.

The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between physical properties of dried coacervate films and dry feel for shampoo composition. Simple shampoo compositions were made of two different cationic charge density polymers in the same surfactant compositions. The simple shampoo compositions were diluted with distilled water to make coacervate. Formed coacervate was collected by centrifuge (3,000 rpm, 30 min). Coacervate was coated on the glass plates and dried in drying oven (for 1 h, $50^{\circ}C$) to make the thin film. We carried out an experiment on measurement of contact angle, moisture loss ratio and SEM image analysis of the dried coacervate film. Dry feelings of the shampoos were evaluated by panel using hair tresses. Results show that the properties of dried coacervate films affect the dry feel of the after shampooing.
