The purposes of this study were to investigate the perception level about food safety of school foodservice dietitians and employees and to assess their food hygiene practice level in school foodservice operation in Chungbuk Province. A questionnaire survey of 250 dietitians and 744 employees at school food service operations was conducted and 143 and 421 respective responses were available for this study. The collected data were analyzed using SAS V8.2 for windows. The main results of this study can be summarized as follows: 98.60% of respondent school foodservice dietitians operated sanitation training programs one time or more per month. As for the reason why the program was not performed at frequent intervals, the majority of the dietitians and employees attributed it to the conventional practices. The employees' perception level of importance about sanitary training program was marked at 4.31(out of 5 scale). The employees' performance level of sanitary training program was ranked above 4.0 point(out of 5 scale) in the 26 items out of the total of 29 items. The results indicated that there was positive correlation between perception level and performance level of sanitation training program. The findings suggest that continuing sanitary education is important to ensuring food safety at school foodservice operations.
The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of the Peer Relationship Program on the school adjustment of Ha-nul with the school maladjustment by peer problems. To achieve this purpose, single subject pretest-pottiest design was implemented for Ha-nul with school maladjustment in the third grade of the elementary school. As for the testing period of this study, this program was carried out one time a week for 10 weeks from Sept 11, 2006 to Oct 13, 2006. Each test lasted for $40{\sim}60$ minutes. To find out changes in the school adjustment of the subject child, the progress in change before and after tests was comparatively analyzed through a Likert-type three-step evaluation scale and presented as tables and graphs regarding the target behavior table. And the school adjustability was calculated in terms of percentage and presented as tables and bar graphs through a Likert-type four-step evaluation scale. Change in the subject Ha-nul's behavior, which was shown in test scenes, was observed and recorded and then Qualitatively analyzed. The following conclusions were drawn from the results of this study: First, the Peer relationship improvement program was effective in the positive influence to the relationship between a teacher in charge and Ha-nul with the school maladjustment This program made a confidence and increased the ability to express one's own ideas and feelings to others. Second, the Peer relationship improvement program was effective in the positive influence to the relationship between schoolfellows and Ha-nul with the school maladjustment This program provided the opportunities to get along with peers naturally and the abilities of a mutual understanding. Third, the Peer relationship improvement program was effective in the partially positive influence to Ha-nul with the school maladjustment. Fourth, the Peer relationship improvement program was effective in the positive influence to follow the school rules by experiencing a role, concession and fairness through the various activities. Fifth, the Peer relationship improvement program was effective in the positive influence to take part in the school event with a self-confidence and cooperation with peers through the various activities.
The purpose of this study was to development the Animals-Understanding Program in city park with zoo for elementary school students, futhermore this study evaluated changes of elementary school students' attitude toward animals. The Animals-Understanding Program was consisted of 10 units which are as follows: structure and history of Dalseong Park, preparation before out-door learning, out-door learning in Dalseong Park 1 2, basic understanding of animals 1 2 3, male and female of animals, vertebrates and invertebrates, relationship between animals and human. According to the results of this study, the Animals-Understanding Program has an effect on students' attitude toward animals. More specifically, students' attitude toward antiutilization was not affected, their attitude toward knowledge about animals, psychological aspects of animals, and empathy for animals were definitely showing the effect.
The purpose of this study is to find a concrete plan by examining effect of environmental education program on Environment-friendly Attitudes in sixth grade elementary school and to testify the educational values of environmental education program. The study was carried out by 32 students, which was experimental group and by 32 students, control group, in the sixth grade of Y elementary school located in yangjung, Busan city. Both group was found out the same quality group through the pre-test. Environmental class using environmental education program was applied to experimental group and traditional lecture class was applied to control group. After executing post-test to each group, comparative analysis was conducted by t-test using a SPSS 12.0 program. The result of post-test showed that experimental group taken environmental class using environmental education program was more statistically meaningful than control group taken traditional lecture class in the cognitive, emotional, behavioral area. As a result, in sixth grade elementary school environmental class using a environmental education program was more effective in knowledge-acquirement about the overall environ mental programs, and in fostering Environment-friendly Attitudes and behaviors than traditional lecture class. The teacher must develop efficient environment education program in such side.
This study was carried out in order to facilitate the consumption of milk which tend to decrease in recent years and to improve the school milk program. The survey by means of prepared questionnaire was conducted to investigate a perception and satisfaction of school milk program, and milk intake at home and school with elementary, middle, and high school students. Most of the subjects thought drinking milk is important for their health but only 50.2% of them were actually drinking milk everyday. In particular, the frequency of consuming milk at home was significantly lower in students being provided with school milk program than the students without school milk program. Most of the students commonly drunk plain milk rather than flavored milk, however actually they preferred flavored milk to plain milk. The frequency of consuming milk and the degree of satisfaction for milk being served in the school milk program was lowered. The major reason of disliking milk being served in school milk program was ‘poor taste’. And to promote milk consumption in school milk program, the subjects anticipated the serving of various milk and dairy products, flavored milk and yogurt etc. Thus, it was suggested that to improve the school milk program and promote milk consumption among the students, serving various products that can satisfy their preferences and demands and the proper food guide and education on nutrition are called for.
This study was to find out the effects of out-of-class environmental experience learning on elementary students' environmental literacy. For this study, we developed and applied environmental education program utilizing out-of-class facilities and ecological park for the 5th-grade students. The subjects of this study were the 5th grade students of an elementary school located in Si-hung city. The study was carried out for two groups, an experiment group of 29 students and control group of 29 students. The education program using out-of-class environmental experience learning was provided to the experiment group while lecture-oriented education program was provided to the control group. The questionnaire used in this study to assess the environmental literacy of the study objects consists of 41 questions under 4 domains (knowledge, emotion, skill, behavior). After observing and analyzing the effects of out-of-class environmental experience learning on students' environmental literacy, we found that the program using the out-of-class environmental experience learning posed greater impacts than lecture-oriented program. By domains, environmental literacy in 3 domains illustrated positive improvement. In particular, skill domain illustrated much more improvement in environmental literacy. But, domain of behavior didn't illustrated improvement in environmental literacy. The result of this study signified that the out-of-class environmental experience learning has positive and effective impact on the environmental literacy. And out-of-class environmental experience learning is more suitable to improve the skill domain of the environmental literacy than lecture-oriented learning. But, it is couldn't improve the domain of behavior. Therefore, in order to improve behavior domain, the program must apply with effective evaluation and home training.
Objectives: The economic evaluation of health promotion programs has increasingly become an imperative activity for securing public fund or budget. The purpose of this study is to conduct an economic evaluation for the healthy school canteen program using the contingent valuation method(CVM). Methods: To estimate the benefit from the healthy school canteen program, double-bounded dichotomous choice method as a sort of willingness to pay was employed. Four hundred parents who lived in Seoul and have students at middle or high schools, were administrated by semi-constructive questionnaire containing the necessary information for benefit estimation. Cost estimation of healthy school canteen program was made referring to three types of pilot programs. Finally, the benefit against the cost was worked out according to the three levels of estimated cost. Results: Cost estimate is 8,488 and 9,311 won depending on the two senarios about how to invest on the program, respectably. The results of benefit estimate shows that the average cost willingness to pay(WTP) for healthy school canteen program is 21,275 won(16,963-59,838 won, 95% CI) and total benefits turned out 14.7 billion won. According to the cost-benefit analysis, average benefit-cost ratio is from 2.3 to 3.6. Conclusions: Healthy school canteen program could be economically accepted, and government can take consideration of expanding beneficiaries of healthy school canteen program for health promotion.

Objectives : This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of an internet-based anger management program for school-aged children. Methods : Forty-eight elementary school students took part in an anger management training program; subsequently, participants, their parents, and their teachers answered questionnaires assessing the participants' anger, aggressiveness, and other emotional/behavioral problems, pre- and post-training. Results : At the post-training self-assessment, the participants showed significant reductions in their "anger-out" tendencies and physical aggressiveness. In addition, the effects of the program on "anger-out" tendencies, aggressiveness, anger and peer relational problem were found to be more significant in participants who reported depressive symptoms. Teachers rated the participants' peer-relational problems as having decreased after the training. Conclusion : The proposed internet-based anger management program had a significant effect on the school-aged children's abilities to control their anger.
A Science Camp Program was developed and applied as an intensified course for gifted students. The implications for the development and implementation of out-of-school science activities were also deduced through the analysis of the preliminary application results. The key point of the science camp program is to boost students' science inquiry skills through self-directed activities. Several positive effects in terms of interest and participation in the program were observed and some implications were derived as follows; (1) The program should provide the students with more opportunities for discussion and debate in group activities. (2) The tasks need be divided into two parts; basic tasks and optional tasks in order to ensure that the students engage in fewer tasks more intensively. (3) Each activity needs sufficient orientation taking consideration of the possibility that not all students may be ready for the inquiry. (4) The use of real examples of scientific research processes can help the students develop open inquiry skills and problem posing skills.
It is the purpose at thus survey to get hold at problems in teaching integrated science in middle school. For this purpose, problems and suggestions were collected by questionnaire which were made out by middle school science teachers. Through the analysis of the questionnaire, it was found that the present curriculum of science education in the college of education and the in-service training program were not suitable for training middle school science teacher. Form the results of the analysis, this survey concluded that the curriculum and program mentioned above need improvement as follows. (1) science education curriculum in the college of education should be set up with two part. One is the part that middle school science teachers are trained and the other is the part that high school science teachers are trained. (2) In-service training program should be set off into two kinds. One is the program that middle school science teachers are trained and the other program that high school science teachers are trained.
