개선된 MES 방법을 이용한 신호의 도래각(DOA) 추정을 위한 배열안테나 (Antenna array for estimation of direction of arrival utilizing modified minimum eigenvalue searching)

  • This paper presents an alternative technique for DOA (direction-of-arrival) estimation. For generating a weight vector orthogonal to the signal subspace, a modified version of MES (minimum eigenvalue searching ) method is introduced. The performance of the proposed technique is compared to that of the conventional ED (eigen decomposition) method in terms of angle resolution for a number of snapshots during agiven observation period as well as various SNR's. In addition, the superiority of the suggested technique is shown, by analyzing the required computational load of the proposed MES and conventional ED method. A novel procedure of simplifying the MES proposed in [1] is presented on that purpose. Another advnatage of the proposed technique is that it is performed independently of the detection of the number of signal components, which makes it possible to estimate the DOA's of clusters consisting of infinite number of inseparable signal components.

  • Filament inversion routines are highly effective for target definition whenever total-field DHTEM vectors can be obtained using three-component logging tools. However most cross-hole components contain significant noise related to sensor design and errors in observation of probe rotation. Standard stacking methods can be used to improve data quality but additional statistical methods based on cross-correlation and spatial averaging of orthogonal components may be required to ensure a consistent vector migration path. Apart from assisting with spatial averaging, multiple filaments generated for successive time-windows can provide additional imaging information relating to target geometry and current migration. New digital receiver systems provide additional time-windows to provide better tracking options necessary for high-resolution imaging of this type.

  • European side impact analysis of an electric vehicle was done using robust design. Locations and section properties of some of the vehicle structure components which influence the european side impact characteristics were chosen as the main factors for the robust design. Eight factors were considered for the analysis: one with two level and seven with three level combinations comprising the L18(21$\times$37) orthogonal array. It is shown that the sensitivities of the factors and the best combination of the factors can be obtained, and that the location of the main components were as much sensitive as the section properties of those. Also it is shown that the interactions were existed between some factors.

  • Demagnetization for a tube sample which was made of a galvanized steel sheet was performed by applying a magnetic field with a decrement to remove the remanent magnetization of the material. An orthogonal fluxgate magnetic field sensor was used to measure a magnetic field created from a ferromagnetic material. To evaluate the remanent magnetization, the measured magnetic fields were separated into two magnetic field components by the remnant magnetization and the induced one. The horizontal and the vertical bias fields should be controlled separately during demagnetization to remove the horizontal and the vertical components of the remanent magnetization of the tube sample.

  • Lactic acid production parameter optimization using Lactobacillus amylovorus NRRL B-4542 was performed using the design of experiments (DOE) available in the form of an orthogonal array and a software for automatic design and analysis of the experiments, both based on Taguchi protocol. Optimal levels of physical parameters and key media components namely temperature, pH, inoculum size, moisture, yeast extract, $MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_20$, Tween 80, and corn steep liquor (CSL) were determined. Among the physical parameters, temperature contributed higher influence, and among media components, yeast extract, $MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_20$, and Tween 80 played important roles in the conversion of starch to lactic acid. The expected yield of lactic acid under these optimal conditions was 95.80% and the actual yield at optimum conditions was 93.50%.

Bayesian inference of the cumulative logistic principal component regression models

  • We propose a Bayesian approach to cumulative logistic regression model for the ordinal response based on the orthogonal principal components via singular value decomposition considering the multicollinearity among predictors. The advantage of the suggested method is considering dimension reduction and parameter estimation simultaneously. To evaluate the performance of the proposed model we conduct a simulation study with considering a high-dimensional and highly correlated explanatory matrix. Also, we fit the suggested method to a real data concerning sprout- and scab-damaged kernels of wheat and compare it to EM based proportional-odds logistic regression model. Compared to EM based methods, we argue that the proposed model works better for the highly correlated high-dimensional data with providing parameter estimates and provides good predictions.

  • 다양한 압축 응력 상태에서의 콘크리트의 거동 특성을 나타내기 위한 소성 모델을 개발하였다. 응력 성분은 압축 상태에서 각각의 거동특성을 갖는 세 개의 직교 성분으로 분리하였다. 각 성분의 거동 특성을 독립적으로 나타내기 위하여 각 성분에 대한 독립적인 다중 파괴기.준을 이용하는 소성모델을 적용하였다. 각 파괴면은 실험결과에 근거하여 각 파괴기준에 대한 등가 소성 변형률에 의하여 정의하였다. 또한, 압축손상에 의한 체적팽창을 나타내기 위한 간단한 비상관 소성흐름법칙을 제안하였다. 제안된 모델은 다양한 재료 특성 및 응력 상태를 갖는 기존의 실험 결과들과 비교를 통하여 검증되었다. 이 비교는 기존의 소성모델보다 제안된 모델의 적용성이 우수함을 입증하고 있다.

OFDM 기법에 기반한 Multi-Cell 시스템에서 PAPR 감소와 대역간 간섭에 관한 연구 (A Study on Inter Band Interference and PAPR Reduction in Multi-Cell System based on OFDM Techniques)

  • 4세대 이동 통신 서비스를 위한 시스템들은 멀티미디어 서비스를 지원하기 위해 대용량 데이터 전송이 가능한 OFDM(Orthogonal frequency Division Multiplexing) 방식을 이용하고, 서비스의 질을 높이기 위해 통신 영역을 세분화하여 Macro Cell, Pico Cell, Femto Cell 등으로 구성하고 있다. 통신 영역의 세분화로 인해 기존에 단일 Cell 을 사용하는 것과 달리 동일한 채널에서 Cell을 중첩시켜 서비스해야 하므로 시스템들 간의 대역간 간섭이 문제가 된다. 특히, OFDM 신호는 독립적으로 변조된 많은 부반송파들로 구성되므로 이들이 동위상으로 더해질 때 신호의 진폭이 증가하여 PAPR (Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) 문제가 발생한다. 높아진 PAPR은 전력 증폭기와 같은 비선형 소자를 통과하면서 신호의 왜곡이 발생하여 대역 외 스펙트럼 방출이 발생하므로 대역간 간섭으로 작용한다. 본 논문에서는 대역간 간섭을 최소화하기 위해 PAPR 감소기법을 적용한 후 전력증폭기와 같은 비선형 소자를 통과하면서 발생하는 대역 외 스펙트럼 방출에 대하여 분석하였다.

안전도를 고려한 전동 틸트/텔레스코픽 조향주의 해석 및 설계 (Analysis and Design of a Motor Driven Tilt/Telescopic Steering Column for Safety Improvement)

  • The design process of the motor driven tilt/telescopic steering column is established by axiomatic design approach in conceptual design stage. By selecting independent design variables for improvin g performance of the steering system, each detailed design can be carried out independently. In the detailed design, the safety in crash environment and vibration reduction are considered. An occupant analysis code SAFE(Safety Analysis For occupant crash Environment) is utilized to simulate the body block test. Segments, contact ellipsoids and spring-damper elements are used to model the steering column in SAFE. The model is verified by the result of the body block test. After the model is validated, the energy absorbing components are designed using an orthogonal array. Occupant analyses are performed for the cases of the orthogonal array. Final design is determined for the minimum occupant injury. For vibrational analysis, a finite element model of the steering column is defined for the modal analysis. The model is validated by the vibration experiment. Size and shape variables are selected for the optimization process. An optimization is conducted to minimize the weight subjected to various constraints.

서보모터의 가감속형태에 따른 운도오차에 관한 연구 (A study on motion errors due to acceleration and deceleration types of servo motors)

  • This paper describes motion errors due to acceleration and deceleration types of servo motors in NC machine tools. Motion errors are composed of two components : one is due to transient response of a servomechanism and the other comes from gain mismatching of positioning servo motors. It deals with circular interpolation to identify motion errors by using Interface card. Also in order to minimize motion errors, this study presents an effective method to optimize parameters which are connected with motion errors. The proposed method is based upon a second order polynomial regression model and it includes an orthogonal array method to make the effective results of experiments. The validity and reliability of the study were verified on a vertical machining center equipped with FANUC 0MC through a series of experiments and analysis.
