현대여성패션에 나타난 벨트의 외적 특성에 관한 연구 (The Role of Exterior Features of Belts in Modern Women's Fashion)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the roles that the exterior features of belts play in modem women's fashion. Providing a new prospective on belt expression could be useful for developing and producing belts with newer and more unique fashion designs. This study included related studies, fashion magazines and collections produced both in Korea and abroad since 2000. The results of the study were as follows: 1. A belt can be used to stress femininity. For example wearing a broad belt rather than a thin belt emphasizes the waist, breasts or hips depending on the position of the belt, whereas simply Wearing a belt loosely on a tight or see-through dress can also emphasize femininity. 2. A belt can be used as a design element of a dress. The basic elements of a belt, such as leather used in combination with various colors, various manufacturing methods, and ornate buckle ornaments can produce elaborate decorative effects. However, when a belt is made from materials other than leather, the belt can have an ornamental quality on an achromatic dress. Finally, designing belts to be worn in non-conventional manners, such as girding or tying them, or wearing several belts on the arms, legs, shoulders and waist can result in new and expressive styles.

A Study on the Definition of the Term "Tectonics" in Architecture

  • This paper attempts to identify the term "tectonics" comprehensively by collecting and categorizing existing definitions of tectonics within the architectural area rather than to stress the concept of tectonics of each specific theorist. Although no consensus of opinion on the concept of tectonics exists, architectural tectonics was closely related to the following terms in three categories: 1. $techn\acute{e}$, technique, and technology; 2. construction and structure; and 3. stereotomics. Based on its etymology, system, and material construct, the notion of tectonics common in these three categories signifies "the art of framing construction," in which linear elements are connected with joints and clad or infilled with lightweight material. Thus, the art of framing construction, as a common concept of tectonics, reveals the following characteristics: First, tectonics is based on framing construction in contrast to piling-up construction as the etymology of tectonics signifies the art of carpentry. Then, the term tectonics, dealing as it does with a higher level of construction rather than the mechanical level of structure, incorporates the poetic aspect of techne as well as the rational aspect of technology. Third, Owing to the organic, double system of tectonic frame and incrusting or infilling materials, the tectonic body becomes both the ornament and the structure simultaneously. As the art of framing construction is based on material construction rather than structural or ornamental form, this paper proposes that one can view tectonics as a term that conveys the meaning of the actual material effect on space.

덕유산 국립공원일대의 자원식물상 연구 (A Floristic Study on the Economic Plants of Deogyusan National Park Area)

  • This study aims to investigate the distribution of the useful resources plants and the flora of Deogyusan. The flora of Deogyusan was investigated from April in 2002 to November in 2003. Vascular plants of this area consist of total 549 taxa; 9 forma, 64 varieties, 476 species, 281 genera, 90 families. It corresponds to $13.5\%$ of totally 4,071 taxa appeared in Korea. Useful plants of this area were investigated 399 taxa. It corresponds to $72.5\%$ of collected plants in this area under our study. Among the useful plants, there are 205 taxa of edible source, 179 taxa of pasture source, 159 taxa of medicinal source, 70 taxa of ornamental source, 15 taxa of timber, and 17 taxa of industrial raw materials. Korean endemic plants were composed 18 families, 23 genera, 19 species, 4 varieties and totaling 25 taxa.

경남 지역의 반닫이에 관한 연구 (A Study on Bandage, Chests with Half-opened Doors, in Gyeongnam Province)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the characteristics of the common people and the furniture they used and to investigate the general characteristics of traditional Korean culture in the late Chosun Dynasty in order to study the Characteristics of Bandagein Gyeongnam province. Local characteristics of the Bandaji were examined through comparing local style of Folk Houses Interior space composition and the utilization Bandaji of that space through the case study and literature review. Bandagein Gyeongnam province are classified as Tongyeong, Jinju, Miryang, Namhae, Yangsan, Gimhae. The height of Bandaji is relatively lower than in other provinces, the metal ornaments are simple, and the wood pattern is used to show simple and natural beauty. As a characteristic of metal decoration, Bandaji of Miryang have a lot of openwork decoration, Bandaji in Jinju have a cicada hinge and a decorative iron hook, Bandaji in Namhae have a peak of a lotus flowers shaped hinge and Ying-yang/ number pattern on openwork facet and Bandajji in Yangsan have a Violin hinge and Bandajji in Gimhae have emphasized ornamental features by using a rivet and lock made of tin and the cast iron.

케이블 니팅의 표현 유형에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Expression Types of Cable Knitting)

  • Cable knitting, one of the most representative structures of knitwear has been applied to a number of knit items in a variety of expressions every season. The purpose of this study is to analyze the various types of expressions applied with cable knitting techniques to make the necessary data for planning cable knit designs. The types of cable knitting were devide into two categories which are based on the cable knitting pattern and structure. Based on the pattern, firstly, formal type is a reproduction of traditional Aran knit style and is usually applied to a practical and comfortable timeless knit product. Secondly, informal type is irregular applied to patterns and directions to highlight the dynamics of cable patterns. Thirdly, contrasting type emphasizes the cable pattern by contrasting the color of the part of the cable pattern. Fourthly, figurative type is the expression of the conceptual motifs and using the cable knit pattern itself as motif. Based on the structure, firstly, open type is to emphasize patterns and spaces by utilizing open spaces created by the intersection of cabling stitches. Secondly, decorative type is to enhance the ornamental effect of cable knitting by various methods and other subsidiary materials. Thirdly, avant-garde type is applied in various ways with exaggerated volumes or textures using the three-dimensional effects of cable knitting. Through this study, we look forward to the possibility of expressing the unique aesthetic characteristics of each of the various knitting techniques.

Analysis of the International Flowers & Plants Expo Tokyo in 2017

  • This study aimed to provide basic data on current trends in floriculture through a survey. The exhibitors' purposes and items displayed at the Tokyo International Flowers & Plants Expo in 2017 were surveyed. The survey was conducted among 238 exhibitors during the exhibition period from October 11 to 13, 2017. As a result, participants came from 14 countries including Belgium, China, Colombia, Japan, Korea and France. The purposes of the majority of the surveyed exhibitors were to display cultivars (86 exhibitors, 36.3%), followed by to display merchandise, subsidiary materials and cultivation techniques. Among cultivars, pot plants accounted for the majority of the entire cultivars (54 exhibitors, 55.1%), followed by cut flowers (35 exhibitors, 35.7%), sapling, and seeds. The most of the displayed pot plants were ornamental plants (27 exhibitors, 43.5%), followed by garden trees, ground cover plants, bedding plants and succulent plants. The most of the displayed cut flowers were rose (8 exhibitors, 21.1%), followed by lisianthus, chrysanthemum and dahila. In terms of cultivation techniques, those using moss were displayed by 7 exhibitors (50%) and green-wall techniques were displayed by 6 exhibitors (42.9%). In terms of merchandise, processed products were displayed by 21 exhibitors (41.2%), followed by floral products. Therefore, the IFEX can be used as a place to understand current trends in the floriculture market.

야생관상식물(野生觀賞植物)의 개발(開發)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究)(II) - 섬회양목의 군락생태(群落生態) 및 형태(形態)와 특성(特性) - (Studies on the Developmental of New Ornamental Plants Originated from Wild Shrubs and Trees (II) - Communities, Morphologies and Characteristics of Buxus koreana var. insularis -)

  • 본(本) 연구(硏究)는 섬회양목의 적합(適合)한 개발법(開發法)을 구명(究明)하기 위(爲)하여 1975년도(年度)에 전남도(全南道) 완도군(莞島郡) 보길도(甫吉島)의 천연군락지((天然群落地)를 대상(對象)으로 생태(生態) 및 형태(形態)와 특성(特性)을 조사(調査) 분석(分析)하여 다음과 같이 종합(綜合)되는 결과(結果)를 얻었다. 1. 섬회양목의 천연군락((天然群落)은 한국(韓國)의 남부(南部) 도서(島嶼)인 보길도(甫吉島), 진도(珍島), 소흑산도(小黑山島)에 분포(分布)되고 있다. 2. 산성토양(酸性土壤)에 적응성(適應性)이 있다. 3. 동백나무, 섬회양목, 그늘사초의 3계층(階層)으로 조성(組成)된 군집식생(群集植生)이다. 4. 내음성(耐陰性)이 있는 난대(暖帶) 고유(固有)의 상록활엽엽관목(常綠濶葉灌木)이다. 5. 엽(葉), 과실(果實), 종자(種子)는 회양목에 비(比)하여 대형(大形)이다. 6. 종자(種子)의 결실(結實) 및 발아력(發芽力)이 양호(良好)하여 실생번식(實生繁殖)이 용이(容易)하다. 7. 채종(採種) 적기(適期)는 7월중순(月中旬)이며 파종적기(播種適期)는 8월중순(月中旬)이다. 8. 발아시(發芽時) 상해(霜害)를 받으므로 나지(裸地) 발생(發生)이 어렵다. 9. 연(年) 평균(平均) 높이 8~10cm, 부피 1.5mm의 완만(緩慢)한 생장(生長)을 하고 지엽(枝葉)이 치밀(緻密)하여 아름답다. 10. 조경수(造景樹), 조각재(彫刻材), 공예재(工藝材), 밀원식물등(蜜源植物等)의 자원(資源)으로 개발(開發)이 가능(可能)하다.

원주(原州) 법천리출토(法泉里出土) 금동식리(金銅飾履)에 대한 연구(硏究) (A Study on Gilded Ornamental Shoes Excavated from Beopcheon-ri, Wonju)

  • 백제문화의 중요한 자료가 되고 있는 원주 법천리 고분군 중 1호분과 4호분에서 금동식리편이 발굴되었다. 특히 이 식리에는 스파이크가 존재하여 백제의 식리 제작과 금동 기술에 대한 정보를 제공할 수 있다. 본 연구는 이곳에서 출토된 식리편을 분석하여 식리의 제작 방법, 당시 사용된 동의 특성 등을 조사하였다. 스파이크는 투과X-선과 현미경 등을 통해 관찰해 본 결과 하나의 몸체로 제작되어 머리 부분을 두드려 금동판에 부착하였다. 이 금동판은 대부분 구리로 되어 있으며 재결정에 의한 쌍정이 나타나고 있고, 비금속개재물의 EDS 분석 결과 납을 함유하고 있다. 또한 금동판이 두 개로 되어있다는 증거가 나타나지 않아 장식용으로 리벳을 사용한 것으로 보인다. 금동판의 도금은 금도금층의 두께가 불균일하고 내부가 비어 있으며 EDS 분석에서 수은이 검출되는 것으로 보아 아말감법에 의한 도금을 하였다.

전통 원림에 도입된 비둘기 완상 문화 (The Culture of Appreciating Pigeons in Korean Traditional Landscape Gardens)

  • 본 연구에서는 전통 원림에서 행해진 비둘기 애호 문화를 살펴보고, 전통 원림의 동물 소재로서 비둘기의 면모를 조명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 비둘기의 종류와 명칭을 파악하고, 쓰임과 상징적 의미를 분석하여 비둘기에 대한 인식을 파악하였다. 비둘기를 통한 원림 향유 문화를 살펴보기 위해 한국고전종합DB와 한국사데이터베이스에서 '비둘기'로 검색하여 도출된 고문헌의 번역본을 대상으로 내용 분석하였으며 옛 그림을 참고하였다. 비둘기는 귀소성이 있는 새로서 전서구(傳書鳩)로 이용되었으며, 약용, 식용으로도 쓰였다. 비둘기는 다양한 상징적 의미가 있는데, 풍요(豐饒)와 환우(喚雨)를 의미하였으며, 장수를 상징하였다. 고려 시대부터 조선 전기까지 궁원(宮苑)과 사가 원림에서 비둘기를 길러왔으며, 조선 후기에는 관상용 비둘기의 애완문화가 일시적으로 유행하였다. 비둘기는 원림을 풍부하게 향유하게 하는 공감각적 소재였다. 가지각색의 아름다운 비둘기는 움직이는 조경 소재로서 원림의 가변적 경관을 창출했다. 비둘기의 움직임에 따라 다르게 나타나는 방울 소리는 경관의 청각적 체험을 풍부하게 유도했다. 비둘기 집은 비둘기와 더불어 원림을 풍부하게 하는 완상 요소였다. 원림 조영자는 비둘기 집을 만들고 원림에 배치하는 행위를 통해 원림 조영에 적극적으로 관여했다. 또한 문인들은 봄을 상징하는 수목이자 비둘기의 먹이 제공원으로서 매실나무, 복숭아나무, 살구나무, 산사나무 등과 더불어 부귀와 은일을 상징하는 모란과 국화를 식재하여 비둘기와 함께 향유했으며, 이를 시와 그림으로 표현하였다. 본 연구는 전통 원림의 공감각적 소재로서 비둘기에 주목하여 전통 원림 문화를 이해하고자 하였다. 동물 요소로서 원림에 도입된 비둘기의 완상 요소와 조영자의 향유 행태에 대한 조경사적 컨텐츠를 제공한다는 점에서 의의를 갖는다. 본 연구에서는 번역문을 분석 대상으로 삼았다는 한계를 가지며, 향후 원림에서 비둘기를 기른 구체적 사례와 근현대 시기 조경 공간에서의 비둘기 기르기에 대한 후속 연구가 촉구된다.

Anti-Inflammatory Effect of Flavonoids from Brugmansia arborea L. Flowers

  • Brugmansia arborea L. (Solanaceae), commonly known as "angel's trumpet," is widely grown in North America, Africa, Australia, and Asia. It has been mainly used for ornamental purposes as well as analgesic, anti-rheumatic, vulnerary, decongestant, and anti-spasmodic materials. B. arborea is also reported to show anti-cholinergic activity, for which many alkaloids were reported to be principally responsible. However, to the best of our knowledge, a phytochemical study of B. arborea flowers has not yet been performed. Four flavonol glycosides (1-4) and one dihydroflavanol (5) were for the first time isolated from B. arborea flowers in this study. The flavonoids showed significant antioxidant capacities, suppressed nitric oxide production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated RAW 264.7 cells, and reduced inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase (COX-2) protein production increased by LPS treatment. The contents of compounds 1-4 in n-BuOH fraction were determined to be 3.8 ± 0.9%, 2.2 ± 0.5%, 20.3 ± 1.1%, and 2.3 ± 0.4%, respectively, and that of compound 5 in EtOAc fraction was determined to be 12.7 ± 0.7%, by HPLC experiment. These results suggest that flavonol glycosides (1-4) and dihydroflavanol (5) can serve as index components of B. arborea flowers in standardizing anti-inflammatory materials.
