Multiclass SVM Model with Order Information

  • Original Support Vsctor Machines (SVMs) by Vapnik were used for binary classification problems. Some researchers have tried to extend original SVM to multiclass classification. However, their studies have only focused on classifying samples into nominal categories. This study proposes a novel multiclass SVM model in order to handle ordinal multiple classes. Our suggested model may use less classifiers but predict more accurately because it utilizes additional hidden information, the order of the classes. To validate our model, we apply it to the real-world bond rating case. In this study, we compare the results of the model to those of statistical and typical machine learning techniques, and another multi class SVM algorithm. The result shows that proposed model may improve classification performance in comparison to other typical multiclass classification algorithms.

DISCONTINUOUS GALERKIN SPECTRAL ELEMENT METHOD FOR ELLIPTIC PROBLEMS BASED ON FIRST-ORDER HYPERBOLIC SYSTEM

  • A new implicit discontinuous Galerkin spectral element method (DGSEM) based on the first order hyperbolic system(FOHS) is presented for solving elliptic type partial different equations, such as the Poisson problems. By utilizing the idea of hyperbolic formulation of Nishikawa[1], the original Poisson equation was reformulated in the first-order hyperbolic system. Such hyperbolic system is solved implicitly by the collocation type DGSEM. The steady state solution in pseudo-time, which is the solution of the original Poisson problem, was obtained by the implicit solution of the global linear system. The optimal polynomial orders of 𝒪(𝒽𝑝+1)) are obtained for both the solution and gradient variables from the test cases in 1D and 2D regular grids. Spectral accuracy of the solution and gradient variables are confirmed from all test cases of using the uniform grids in 2D.

HIGHER ORDER OPERATOR SPLITTING FOURIER SPECTRAL METHODS FOR THE ALLEN-CAHN EQUATION

  • The Allen-Cahn equation is solved numerically by operator splitting Fourier spectral methods. The basic idea of the operator splitting method is to decompose the original problem into sub-equations and compose the approximate solution of the original equation using the solutions of the subproblems. The purpose of this paper is to characterize higher order operator splitting schemes and propose several higher order methods. Unlike the first and the second order methods, each of the heat and the free-energy evolution operators has at least one backward evaluation in higher order methods. We investigate the effect of negative time steps on a general form of third order schemes and suggest three third order methods for better stability and accuracy. Two fourth order methods are also presented. The traveling wave solution and a spinodal decomposition problem are used to demonstrate numerical properties and the order of convergence of the proposed methods.

순환/재생골재의 잔류 모르타르 성분이 알칼리 실리카 반응성에 미치는 영향 평가 (The Effect of the Residual Mortar of Recycled Concrete Aggregate on Alkali Silica Reaction)

  • PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of the residual mortar of recycled concrete aggregate on the expansion behavior during alkali silica reaction (ASR). METHODS: In order to evaluate the net effect of residual mortar on ASR expansion behavior, two aggregate samples with the same original virgin aggregate source but different residual mortar volumes were used. ASTM C1260 test was used to evaluate the ASR expansion behavior of these two aggregates and the original virgin aggregate. RESULTS: The greater the amount of residual mortar in recycled concrete aggregates, the less is the induced ASR expansion. Depending on the amount of residual mortar in recycled concrete aggregate, the ASR expansion of recycled concrete aggregate may be less than half of that of the original virgin aggregate. CONCLUSIONS: The residual mortar of recycled concrete aggregate may lead to the under estimation of the ASR expansion behavior of the original virgin aggregate.

오차수정법을 도입한 비압축성 유체유동 해석을 위한 수치적 방법 (Numerical algorithm with the concept of defect correction for incompressible fluid flow analysis)

  • The characteristics of defect correction method are discussed in a sample heat conduction problem showing the numerical solution of the error correction equation can predict the error of the numerical solution of the original governing equation. A way of using defect correction method combined with the existing algorithm for the incompressible fluid flow, is proposed and subsequently tested for the driven square cavity problem. The error correction equations for the continuity equation and the momentum equations are considered to estimate the errors of the numerical solutions of the original governing equations. With this new approach, better velocity and pressure fields can be obtained by correcting the original numerical solutions using the estimated errors. These calculated errors also can be used to estimate the orders of magnitude of the errors of the original numerical solutions.

Blind Neural Equalizer using Higher-Order Statistics

  • This paper discusses a blind equalization technique for FIR channel system, that might be minimum phase or not, in digital communication. The proposed techniques consist of two parts. One is to estimate the original channel coefficients based on fourth-order cumulants of the channel output, the other is to employ RBF neural network to model an inverse system fur the original channel. Here, the estimated channel is used as a reference system to train the RBF. The proposed RBF equalizer provides fast and easy teaming, due to the structural efficiency and excellent recognition-capability of R3F neural network. Throughout the simulation studies, it was found that the proposed blind RBF equalizer performed favorably better than the blind MLP equalizer, while requiring the relatively smaller computation steps in tranining.

  • This paper deals with the simplification of the transfer function in a frequency domain, viz. the integral of the squared errors between the original and the simplified model is minimized and the latter is estimated by the Walsh function. It tries to minimize the errors between the frequency responses of the two functions. This method is compared with the existing method by means of a numercal example. The frequency response of this simplified model approximates closely to that of the original model. The proposed method is simpler in analysis and easier in implementation than the existing methods. Though the Walsh function can be easily generated with the discrete values, it has errors because its zero crossings are not continuous. This method aims at the reduction of the errors in the real parts and the imaginary parts of the two functions by dividing into the more sub-intervals, and selecting the reduced-order model according to the response of the model. As a result, it can be applied for the simplification of higher order functions into lower order functions and for the design of control systems.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 매체 전환 스토리텔링 관련 팬덤의 속성을 정신분석학의 강박증과 히스테리의 구분을 통해 규명하고자 하는 것이다. 원작각색으로 대표되는 크로스미디어 스토리텔링의 팬덤은 원작을 통해 거대한 만족을 경험한 주체들로서 각색에 의한 스토리 변형을 쉽게 용인하지 않는 강박적 주체이며, 트랜스미디어 스토리텔링의 팬덤은 스토리세계의 결핍을 인지하고, 스스로 결핍을 향유하는 히스테리적 주체이다. 크로스미디어의 원작 팬덤은 원작자의 권위와 원작 스토리세계 안에서 팔루스적 질서를 향유하며, 트랜스미디어의 팬덤은 언어적 질서를 넘어서는 적극적인 직접 체험을 통해 연속적이며 무한한 '다른 향유'를 경험한다. 본 연구는 매체 전환의 양극단에서 나타나는 팬덤의 특성을 강박증과 히스테리의 비교를 통해 규명하기 위한 이론적 입론의 과정이며, 후속연구를 통해 실제 팬덤에 대한 질적 분석을 보강함으로써 매체 전환 팬덤에 대한 총체적 이해의 기반을 마련하고자 한다.

시리즈 애니메이션 캐릭터의 역할과 성격 변화에 대한 고찰 (Study on the Characters' Role and Personality Difference in the Series Animation Works)

  • This study was conducted on characters who play the main character of the spin-off work based on the image in the original. Through the analysis of the original and spin-off works, the role type and characteristics according to the characters' roles were analyzed. It was analyzed that Rex, Bo Peep, and Forky, the main characters of the Toy Story spin-off works, had characteristics described in the original, which were not the main characters, and changed when they appeared in the spin-off works. First, it shows a tendency to add a new personality to play the role of the main character who solves problems and leads the story development while maintaining the existing personality characteristics in the original. Second, in order to play the main character in the spin-off work, these main characters are strongly revealed in the characteristics of the faithful type 6, and the achiever type 3, respectively. The reason why the characters' personality in the existing original have continuity is that if the personality of the existing characters change rapidly, they may contradict the audience's existing perception, preventing them from being immersed in the spin-off protagonist itself and the story development. However, the main characteristics of personality type 6 and personality type 3 are described only by considering the character's role as a helper to solve the problem and the characters' characteristics, but in order to solve the problem in spin-off, the animation producers are determined to achieve the goal. An understanding of this result will greatly help animation producers plan the character in consideration.
