  • Although the theory of Sasang Consititution is widely used in oriental clinic, there is only conceptual definition about the constitution not technical definition which is consented by every experts. In the present, the effect and different responses of constitutional medicines is the most widely accepted criteria among technical definitions. However, these medicines consist of several herbs which are included specific constitution. So, it is hard to define the characters about the Sasang Constitution through analysis of the medicines. In this paper, we collected the various information about the constitutional herbs, and constructed database and web application for accessing this information. It is useful and can be basis for finding the characteristics of constitutional medicines.

  • Objectives : To review the method, validity and reliability of Impedance Cardiography and to study its oriental medical application. Method : The papers reviewed in this study were searched through internet search engines such as Springer, Science Direct, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure. Conclusion : In this study, the methodological limitations, validity and reliability of impedance cardiography were examined. Impedance Cardiography is recognized as a highly accurate non-invasive tool to assess hemodynamic parameters. The ability of impedance cardiography to assess hemodynamic parameters in non-invasive way is very suitable for researches on the effect of oriental medical therapeutics or the validation of oriental medical diagnostic.

Methods : The extract from Panax ginseng was made by the pharmacy department of Kyung Hee Oriental Medical Hospital. The animals were divided into four groups; control, room temperature Panax ginseng (G), $28^{\circ}C$ heating, and $28^{\circ}C$ heating Panax ginseng (heating G). Each group has 8 Sprague-Dawley rats. We measured body weight & temperature twice a week. After 2 weeks of experiment, serum lipid level, WBC, differential count, lymphocyte proliferation and immune cytokine concentration were measured. Results : 1. Simultaneous application of heating condition and Panax ginseng induced decreased body weight and increased body temperature. 2. Simultaneous application of heating condition and Panax ginseng induced decreased AST, ALT and BUN. 3. Simultaneous application of heating condition and Panax ginseng tended to decrease TNF-${\alpha}$ concentration, while application of room temperature and Panax ginseng tended to increase TNF-${\alpha}$ concentration. Conclusions : Simultaneous application of heating condition and Panax ginseng decreseas body weight, increases, body temperature and has a tendency to decrease TNF-${\alpha}$ concentration.

  • We in this paper propose a mobile application for supporting medical treatment based on Korean medicine ontology. It has three processes for treating patients. First, after a pattern is decided for patient' symptoms, a formula for the pattern is selected and medicinal materials constituting the formula is added or removed. Second, formulas are searched and prescribed for patient's symptoms without the process of the pattern decision. Third, after medicinal materials are searched for patient's symptoms, formulas consisting of the medicinal materials are prescribed. Our application aims to help korean medicine doctors treat patients through providing decision supporting functions such as the recommendation of symptoms of diseases accompanying patient's symptom. Doctors generally diagnosis patients according to their experiences and knowledges. Nevertheless, our application can help them, providing diverse forms of information that they may miss in the medical treatment.

  • Objectives : The present study, to confirm the osteoblast differentiation effects of Acer tegmentosum Maxim. (AT) extract. Methods : In this experiment, cell viability, Alizarin red S assay, and Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity with AT extract (50, $100{\mu}g/m{\ell}$). Also, we studied the expression of differentiation regulator with AT extract in primary calvarial osteoblasts cells (pOB). Results : As a result of AT treatment, we determined that AT extract stimulates ALP activity and alizarin red activities in the pOB cells for mineralization for 18 days. Moreover, these factors increasing osteogenic markers such as Runt-related transcription factor2 ($Run{\times}2$), osteocalcin (OC), osteopontin, osterix, smad1, smad5, activating transcription factor4 (ATF4) and collagen type I alpha 1. Conclusions : These results indicate that AT extract have effect on bone through the promotion of osteoblastic differentiation, suggesting that it could be used for the treatment of bone diseases.
