  • Customer needs for final products are very unpredictable because product specifications and technologies are being improved very quickly thereby their requirement level is also elevated correspondingly. In order to survive and to enhance competitiveness in the global market, many manufacturing companies are trying to find a breakthrough from collaborization. Even though they want to collaborate with others, however, they do not exactly know what kind of system they have to develop or which technology they have to use. In this paper, therefore, we first investigate status and trend of information systems and infrastructure that are essential for collaboration. We then clearly describe definition and classification of collaboration with various point of views considering collaboration pattern, timing condition of collaborative activities, organizational structure, etc. With web-based collaboration systems already developed by i-Manufacturing (Korean-style Manufacturing Innovation) project, led by Korean government from 2004, we introduce main functions and analyze collaboration types of each system. Strategically important technologies for supporting collaboration will also be illustrated by reorganizing collaborization technologies after evaluating them with respect to emergency and importance of each technology. We hope this research will provide a guideline on collaboration especially for small and medium sized manufacturing companies.

  • The study of Information Systems(IS) is a relatively new discipline area, thus an analysis of the latest research literature could be useful to identify what the researchers are doing and what can be done to improve our discipline. With that purpose in mind, this study analyzes the total 208 articles published in "The Journal of Information Systems~ between 2001 and 2008. The classification system that comprises three key characteristics of diversity (research topic, research method, and reference discipline) was developed based on a review of prior literature. The results of this study were also compared with Kim et al.(2005)'s and Vessey et al.(2002)'s results to identify issues in current Information Systems research and 10 suggest some recommendations for future In formation Systems research. The findings identify popular research topic:s, the dominant research method, and reference discipline. The popular research topics consists of organizational concepts, problem domain-specific concepts, and systems/software management concepts. Field study was characterized as the dominant research method in the papers included in the study. Information Systems itself represents the major theoretical reference of the studies. However, many papers in this study relied on a number of reference disciplines., none of which was dominant, or they did not rely on a specific reference discipline. Finally, this study suggests more research on the disciplinary issues, more training on the research method, more accurate and specific reference discipline, and controlled diversity.

  • Investigations on information security factors re- main elusive at small and medium enterprises (SMEs), es- specially for custom-made software solutions. This article aims to investigate, classify, adopt factors from recent literature addressing information security resources. SMEs al- ready have information security in place, but they are not easy to adopt through the negotiation processes between the in-house software development companies and custom-made software clients at SMEs. This article proposes a strategic framework for implementing the process of adoption of the information security factors at SMEs after conducting a systematic snapshot approach for investigating and classifying the resources. The systematic snapshot was conducted using a search strategy with inclusion and exclusion criteria to retain 128 final reviewed papers from a large number of papers within the period of 2001-2022. These papers were analyzed based on a classification schema including management, organizational, development, and environmental categories in software development lifecycle (SDLC) phases in order to define new security factors. The reviewed articles addressed research gaps, trends, and common covered evidence-based decisions based on the findings of the systematic mapping. Hence, this paper boosts the broader cooperation between in-house software development companies and their clients to elicit, customize, and adopt the factors based on clients' demands.

  • Purspose: The purpose of this study is to examine the meaning and definition of vulnerable subjects in clinical trials in light of domestic and international regulations and guidelines, to analyze the contents of standard operation procedures (SOPs) among advanced general hospitals in Korea that conduct clinical trials, and to examine deliberation procedures for operation plans. Methods: The study examined how vulnerable research subjects were defined and described in related regulations and the classification of vulnerable research subjects presented in the IRB/HRPP SOPs of 18 clinical trial institutions, including 11 AAHRPP-accreditated general hospitals in Korea, as well as the operation of the IRB deliberation. Results: Among all domestic and international regulations and guidelines, only the The Council for International Organization of Medical Sciences (CIOMS) guidelines explain why vulnerability is related to judgments on the severity of physical, psychological, and social harm, why individuals are vulnerable, and for what reasons. However, the classification of vulnerable subjects by institutions differed from the classification by the International Conference on Harmonization-Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP). A total of the 16 institutions classified children and minors as vulnerable research subjects. 14 institutions classified subjects who cannot consent freely were classified as vulnerable subjects. 15 institutions classified sujects who can be affected by the organizational hierarchy were classified as vulnerable subjects. Subjects in emergency situations were regarded as vulnerable research subjects in 8 of institutions, while people in wards, patients with incurable diseases, and the economically poor including the unemployed were categorized as vulnerable research subjects in 7, 4, and 4 of institutions, respectively. Additionally, some research subjects were not classified as vulnerable by ICH-GCP but were classified as vulnerable by domestic institutions 15 of the institutions classified pregnant women and fetuses as vulnerable, 11 classified the elderly as vulnerable, and 6 classified foreigners as vulnerable. Conclution: The regulations and institutional SOPs classify subjects differently, which may affect subject protection. There is a need to improve IRBs' classifications of vulnerable research subjects. It is also necessary to establish the standards according to the differences in deliberation processes. Further, it is recommended to maintain a consistent review of validity, assessment of risk/benefit, and a review using checklists and spokeperson. The review of IRB is to be carried out in a manner that respects human dignity by taking into account the physical, psychological, and social conditions of the subjects.

  • The service industry, as a new growth engine, has become more important in response to changes in the global economy and the industrial environment. Developed countries have promoted the competitiveness of the service industry and have enhanced economic added value. Developing new services requires extensive resources. Therefore, cooperation and network building capabilities with customers, suppliers, and various knowledge creation agencies are critical sources of competitiveness. This study classified the Korean service industry by industrial type in order to enhance innovation competence. The Korean service industry lags behind that of developed countries, and this study analyzed the differences of innovation results according to collaboration partners by the classified industry. By adopting a method that applies industrial classification by Dialogic's innovation pattern, this study showed external cooperation results were different by industrial type. Analysis results revealed that companies cooperate with customers and competitors in many cases; however, product innovation was higher for companies that collaborated with private service companies. In the 'Innovation in services' industry, industry cooperation with universities showed organizational innovation achievements. In the 'Innovation through services' industry, cooperation with customers positively affected marketing innovation achievements. Consequently, the need to foster consulting firms and universities that can professionally collaborate with companies is implied in order to enhance the Korean service industry.

  • Leading waste disposal countries, such as Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, conduct safety assessments across all stages of High-Level Radioactive Waste Deep Geological Disposal Facilities-from planning and site selection to construction, operation, closure, and post-closure management. As safety assessments are repeatedly performed at each stage, generating vast amounts of diverse data over extended periods, it is essential to construct a database for safety assessment and establish a data management system. In this study, the safety assessment data management systems of leading countries, were analyzed, categorizing them into 1) input and reference data for safety assessments, 2) guidelines for data management, 3) organizational structures for data management, and 4) computer systems for data management. While each country exhibited differences in specific aspects, commonalities included the classification of safety assessment input data based on disposal system components, the establishment of organizations to supply, use, and manage this data, and the implementation of quality management systems guided by instructions and manuals. These cases highlight the importance of data management systems and document management systems for securing the safety and enhancing the reliability of High-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Facilities. To achieve this, the classification of input data that can be flexibly and effectively utilized, ensuring the consistency and traceability of input data, and establishing a quality management system for input data and document management are necessary.

  • The purpose of this study Is to develop empirically validated instrument for business model. The previous researches related to business model were almost taxonomies. And the focus of those researches were the classification by the degree of integration and innovation the origin, and the main source of revenue etc. In the emerging fields such as IT, e-commerce, and e-business, it tends to overlook methodological issue in its substantive relationships and also measurement. Business model is taken an interest in recent years. However, as the non-establishment of construct on business model has made no empirical study, this, study tries to develop an empirical validated instrument that identifies the dimensions of business model by uncovering meaningful group or categories. For this, the outlined domain of business model are defined as an organizational level that competes in the industry through the literature reviews. And the traits such as process integration, value chain reconstruction, strategic alliance with another business model, specialty in a certain wet sustainability of essential capabilities, differentiation, convertibility, customer orientation, revenue stream, newness, innovation leadership: and vision sharing are identified in those respective domains, and then the traits are classified into five dimensions such as interlinkageableness, valueness, functionalness, preemptiveness, and goalness by their characteristics. Generating items are continued on the basis of operationalization. Confirmatory factor analysis is performed in order to develop validated instrument with LISREL measurement model. Finally the instrument is developed through the previous procedure. The implication of this study is the first empirical effort to assess business model. The resulting instrument can be used with dependent variables in the future study related to business model. And the establishment of construct of business model is able to make a basis to rise an additional issue consequently. In the practical side, the instrument also can be employed as an assessment framework that can assess whether the expected value success or not. The instrument with the measurement can be used on competitor's business model, In. When an investment into a i-m with a specific business model, these instrument developed can be presented as the basic framework of assessment.

  • Many B2B electronic markets (EMs) are struggling to survive because they failed to attract enough participants. Thus reaching critical mass of participants is one of the key success factors for various types of EMs. The main purpose of this study is to investigate factors that lead MRO (maintenance, repair, and operating) suppliers to participate in private exchanges (PE), the buy-side EM. This paper introduces the characteristics of the PE according to the classification schemes introduced in previous studies about EM types. Literature is reviewed on suppliers' adoption of inter-organizational information systems focusing on EDI adoptions issues. Data analysis based on incomplete contract theory and the social exchange theory is then presented. The results of this study show that the number of suppliers and subsidy are factors that influence suppliers' participation in PEs. Nonsignificant results relating to trust imply that suppliers who are invited to participate in a PE do not expect their off-line relationships with the buyer to be transferred to the PE.
