In order for the users (shipping firms and shippers) and suppliers (stevedoring firms) in the container terminal industry to win-win, it is necessary to have some appropriate diverse market conditions for the industry. This study analyses the basic conditions and demand and supply characteristics of the industry and investigates the market performance of Busan container ports. First, this article analyses the basic characteristics of demand and supply. As the demand characteristics, there are five ones such as 1) exogeneity of demand, 2) function as export/import transportation and hub for transshipment, 3) increase of users' bargaining power, 4) high substituting elasticity, 5) reduction of volume growth. As the supply characteristics, there are seven ones such as 1) inelasticity of supply, 2) homogeneity of stevedoring services, 3) over-supply, 4) adoption of cutting-edge stevedoring technology, 5) scale economy and impossibility of storage, 6) labor market rigidity, 7) enhancing port's role in SCM. In addition, this study conducts the so-called structure-conduct-performance analysis. For the structure analysis, 1) lacks of scale economy in stevedoring companies, 2) high entry barrier, 3) strengthening of shipping firms' bargaining power, 4) transitory permission scheme for tariff are analyzed. For the conduct analysis, 1) price discrimination between export/import and transshipment, 2) mid-term length of terminal use contract, 3) continuous investment in equipment, 4) low level of cooperation among terminal operating firms are derived. For the performance analysis, 1) inequality in profitability, 2) reduction of export/import cost, 3) delay in adopting cutting-edge technology, 4) idle equipment are analyzed. Following this logical flow, the hypothesis that the market structure influences the market conduct is tested based on the actual dataset. As a future agenda in the conclusion, this article recommends the so-called port industrial policy.
The resource-based view (RBV) explains that the competitive advantage is mainly based on the resources which have strategic characteristics. Therefore, finding, developing and maintaining strategically valuable resources has been one of main research topics and a starting point in the corporate strategy structure in RBV. In this regards, attempts to recognize strategically valuable resources have been one of crucial issues in RBV researches. Especially, Barney's VRIO has been widely used as a practical tool for finding strategically valuable resources. However, empirical studies on VRIO framework's effectiveness have not been sufficiently implemented, and there has been no proven relation among the components of the VRIO so far. This is mainly because the concepts or definitions on core components of the VRIO - Value, Rareness, Inimitability, and Organization - are too comprehensively explained and measurements of each component cannot be easily quantified. Considering these, this paper presents empirical results of the relation between VRIO components and competitive advantage, and tests effectiveness of VRIO Framework with utilizing sufficient technology evaluation cases and financial statements of 2,252 technology based SMEs in Korea. As a result, the components of the VRIO have a positive influence on competitive advantage. The attributes of strategic resources - Value, Rareness, and Inimitability - have a statistically meaningful positive effect on organization, while organization has a positive effect on the competitive advantage serving as a parameter between the attributes of strategic resources and competitive advantage.
This study examines the relationship of the industry-specific factors that effect innovation of manufacturing technology and the market share within the defense industry. Since the establishment of the basic defense industry framework in 1973, there were numerous interactions of the industry-specific factors of the defense industry structure with the technological innovation and market organization of the defense industry. During last three decades, the domestic defense industry has achieved the considerable level but the framework of the basic system has not developed much in areas of the military science and the defense manufacturing technology. Industry-specific factors were formed in the process and appeared in a variety of behavioral characteristics as subsystems. Currently, there IS a growing trend where the management of defense industry is gradually deteriorating due to limitation of the domestic industry-specific factor (e.g. defense technologies, amount of demand, etc.). If there is a prominent imbalance of the industry-specific factors. it can trigger the potential problem of conflict, lack of cooperation and control, slowing the growth of the manufacturing technology thereby diminishing the market and deteriorating the defense supply/demand relationship. In a research conducted by Joe S. Bain, Bain analyzed the relationship of the traditional industrial organization where industry-specific factor(S) not only impacts the conductor(C). And, conductor(C) influences the shaping of the performance(P) of relationship of the traditional industrial organization. Consequently, the researcher has identified the demand monopoly, barriers to entry, and market competition with comparison of defense industry issues. These defense issues were three industry-specific factors identified, which are 1) The demand monopoly and The entry barriers to new market competition, 2) the industrial technical factor to a production technical competitiveness and a market sharing competitiveness, 3) the probability factor to revolution for military affairs(RMA) and a R&D production. According to baseline with these factors, the following research model is established from the special companies group(Group A), the systematization companies group(Group B), and the general companies group(Group 0. The hypothesis is that if there are more industry-specific factors, then there will be more relationships of defense industry relation statutes. This research is an empirical study on the relationship that the industry specific factors effects the innovation of manufacturing technology and the shaping of the market in the defense industry. Moreover, the existing models to evaluate the industry specific factors of the defense industry IS much to be desired with the controlled statistical analysis of the result. It is vital to study on current situation with suggesting alternative strategy to the efficient strategy. The descriptive analysis approach analysis is conducted with SPSSWIN to conduct reliability test, factor analysis, correlation analysis, cross-tabulation analysis, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. However, there were some limitations of the survey such as the rigidity of concept about the technical factors and various market management factors. The wishes is that the decision-maker could be utilized these defence industrial factors to formulate efficient defence policy and strategy in the future.

This study aims to provide policy suggestions on how to implement the process of empowerment, by investigating the conditions that hinder the process and the attitude of the KBS employees. For the cross-sectional study, this thesis examined the domestic and international references, conducted a survey of KBS employees, personal interviews and made direct observations. Approximately 1,200 copies of the questionnaire were distributed and 474 were completed and returned. The analysis used SPSS 12.0 software to process the data collected from 460 respondents. The survey findings showed a decrease of 24.2%p in the number of responses expressing negative views of the team structure and a decrease of 1.29%p in the number of positive responses. The findings indicated a positive transformation illustrating employees' improved understanding and approval of the team structure. However, KBS must address the issue on an ongoing basis. It has been proven that the employee empowerment increases the productivity of the individual and the group. In order to boost the level of empowerment, the management must exercise new, innovative leadership and build trust between the managers and the employees first. Additional workload as a result of shirking at work places was prevalent throughout all divisions and ranks, according to the survey data. This outcome leads to the conclusion that the workload is not evenly distributed or shared. And the data also showed the employees do not trust the assessment and rewards system. More attention and consideration must be paid to the team size and job allocation in order to address this matter; the present assessment and rewards system need to be complemented. The type of leadership varies depending on the characteristics of the organization's structure and employees' disposition. KBS must develop and reform its own management, leadership style to suit the characteristics of individual teams. Finally, for a soft-landing of KBS team structure, in-house training and education are necessary.
This paper attempts to take an in-depth study of the importance of teams and their creativity according to changes of recent design paradigm in engineering and to draw conclusions of the sub-domains and their element extraction. For this purpose, theoretical consideration was reviewed to present the definition of creativity and its sub-domains and elements. Besides, the two steps of expert validation test were conducted to extract the definition of creativity and its sub-domains and elements. The team creativity is defined as a team ability to come up with fresh and useful ideas and to lead them to get meaningful results through cooperative interactions among team members to solve problems given to them based on each member's creativity. Totally, 4 subs -domains and 16 sub-elements were extracted to get to know their influence on the team creativity. This includes a team size, characteristics of team members, and a team structure in team organization domain. To evaluate team atmosphere, elements such as sensibility, fellowship, teamwork, reliability, autonomy and open minded feature are included. In the team activity domain, strategies for solving problems, activities for divergent thinking, activities for convergence thinking and team interaction are included. Also, the sub-domain for team management includes a task, process and conflict management.

A prototypical building that represents the energy characteristics of buildings can be used as a mean of improving building energy efficiency by supporting policy makers, researchers, architects and engineers. This paper is a fundamental study for the definition of prototypical office building models of Korea. First of all, the term "prototypical buildings" was defined in the context of the representatives of building stock by examining the meanings used from many previous researches. Then, building energy related DB of Korea that is available from public and governmental organization such as MLIT (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport) and KEEI (Korea Energy Economics Institute) is analyzed in terms of materials for prototypical building definition. Finally, numerous prototypical building studies since 1990's from all of the world were classified with three criteria based on the degrees of the used DB and assumptions in defining prototypical building. The found three criteria are EDPB (Empirical Decision based Prototypical Building), HIPB (Hybrid Information based Prototypical Building) SAPB (Statistical Analysis based Prototypical Building).
Natural history museums preserve and manage the creatures living in each country, so they play unique roles for bio-diversity, and in fact, their roles are really instrumental for the collection, preservation, research, exhibition and education of creatures in the 21st century. Therefore, this research has the purpose to survey the status of our country's existing natural history museums, analyze their visual perception space structural characteristics, and ultimately utilize their characteristics as basic data in planning out and designing spaces of natural history museums to be established later on. As for the research scope, the research selected as research subjects 7 natural history museums that currently have composite set of open type and mixed type and have been accommodating comparatively active exhibitions since 2000 among 10 or so natural history museums in our country. Research method is that the research analyzed the exhibition spaces of 7 natural history museums by using depthmap program which can analyze space with visual graph analysis function, and analyzed the visibility among unit areas by each natural history museum integration and exhibition contents composition. In such analysis method, the research was able to quantitatively analyze the visual characteristics of exhibition space that induces and adjusts the motion of audience. Visual perception quantitative analysis as in this research will enhance exhibition design by considering the correlation between audience and exhibited items when planning out natural history museums space to be established later on.
This study focuses on the genealogical analysis of the urban public spaces by the local history of Seoul which is significantly different from western cities. The analysis targets the discourse of the urban street which defines urban space-structure among the urban public spaces. Based on the analysis, we define the progress levels of urban public design policy in Seoul. Firstly, in 1960's and 1970's, 'urban reconstruction' was intensively carried out for the country modernization, and 'vehicle preferred street expansion' resulted in damages to historical inheritance, in-humanized street, and cultural uniformity. 1980's and 1990's would be defined as 'politic acceptance of plural values to the urban street.' There were the Olympic Games held in Seoul in 1988, which were the celebrations of the 600th capital establishment and the autonomous local government system. In the meanwhile, diverse values on the urban street were discussed in terms of globalization. There also were the self-reflection for the urban skyscrapers and high-population rate, the cultural uniformity of urban street, and the commercialization in downtown with urban reconstruction plans. Then, the sense of landscape and amenity was focused. Various urban projects and regulations were held according to the changes of value recognition. 2000's can be defined as 'introduction to the organic integration and the urban public design governance.' In the 21st century, types of recognition have changed significantly, which include publicness, humanism, sustainability, symbolism, artistry, placeness, and communication. They cause the establishment of ordinances and the installation of integrated organization via urban design administration. The legislation has been revised in order to support the various methods for the maintenance and operation of urban landscape in terms of local characteristics. New regulations were established for residents to participate in the processes of the urban planning with street design policy.
The purpose of this study is to find out the structural characteristics of interorganizational networks for women, and to identify the magnitude of efficient structure for network using 30 organizations for women in Buchon. This study attempted to examine the characteristic of interorganizational networks through searching out the central organization and block modeling. The research sample was 30 organizations, and the data analyzed by UCINET V and KP(Krack Plot) 3.1. The results show that public agencies are central organizations of all dimensions(information exchange, client referral, cooperation, resource exchange) and they also play an important part as intermediary of interorganizational network. A prominent characteristics of network is "ggiri-network" that means network between similar agencies. This finding provides important strategy to build and expand the network. Also this finding can be direction of network structure to meet women's needs and empower women.
