  • We have investigated printing techniques for processing organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). We succeeded to gravure print uniform organic thin films as well as screen print low work function cathode for OLED structure. Furthermore, by using roll-to-roll manufacturing methods, we have been able to fabricate all-printed flexible OLED demonstrator.

  • Multimode channel waveguides were fabricated using a direct UV patterning technology from thick films deposited by the one-step dip-coating of an organic/inorganic hybrid material (ORMOCER(equation omitted). The core size of the covered ridge waveguide was 43${\times}$51 $\mu\textrm{m}$$^2$; the waveguides can be readily prepared for multimode applications by direct UV patterning. The waveguides exhibited smooth surface profiles and a low optical loss of 0.07 ㏈/cm at the most important wavelength (850nm) used for optical interconnects.

  • We have developed a self-aligned single isolation structure (SIS) and an asymmetric single isolation structure with an image reversal photoresist to increase the aperture ratio in a passive matrix organic light emitting display (PMOLED). Compared to the conventional structure, the fabrication process is reduced by about 17% and the aperture ratio is enlarged over 4%.

  • The maximum current level in organic light emitting diodes (OLED) panel influences the maximum pixel luminance, the width of $V_{DD}$ lines, the maximum power consumption and the lifetime. We propose an algorithm that limits the overall current without any palpable image artifacts, and therefore, improve panel parameters by program.

  • During the last 20 years organic semiconductors have attracted considerable attention due to their interesting physical properties followed by various technological applications in the area of electronics and opto-electronics. It has been a long time since organic solar cells were expected as a low-cost energy-conversion device. Although practical use of them has not been achieved, technological progress continues. Morphology of the materials, organic/inorganic interface, metal cathodes, molecular packing and structural properties of the donor and acceptor layers are essential for photovoltaic response. We have fabricated solar cell devices based on zinc-phthalocyanine(ZnPc) as donor(D) and fullerine($C_{60}$) as electron acceptor(A) with doped charge transport layers, $Alq_3$ as an electron transport or injection layer. We observed the photovoltaic characteristics of the solar cell devices using the Xe lamp as a light source.

  • A semi-empirical organic schottky diode model is proposed for circuit simulation. We have set up a full custom design environment for organic schottky diode circuit using Spectre AHDL, which is widely used commercial EDA tool. We measured frequency response from fabricated rectifier, and it was compared to circuit simulation results using the AHDL model. The frequency response of the fabricated rectifier circuit is not sufficient for 13.56MHz RFID, however, it is enough for 135kHz-band RFID.

  • We herewith report for the effect of dielectric surface modification on the electrical characteristics of organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs). The kist-jm-1 as an organic molecule for the surface modification is deposited onto the surface of zirconium oxide ($ZrO_2$) gate dielectric layer. The OTFTs are elaborated on the flexible plastic substrates through 4-level mask process to yield a simple fabrication process. In this work, we also have examined the dependence of electrical performance on the interface surface state of gate dielectric/pentacene, which may be modified by chemical properties in the gate dielectric surface.

  • This paper investgated on fabrication process and tolerance of resistance body with a uniform thickness formed by the process of cavity type on organic substrate for application of embedded resistor. To improve the tolerance of resistance value according to a position of PCB cause by conventional screen printing, we introduced the process of cavity type from organic substrate. A resistor with a desired shape and volume was precisely formed by the process of cavity using a resistor paste and screen printing. This method can increase PCB's productivity by shortening its production time because process conditions of a screen prining device can be set quickly without any affection on its position accuracy.

  • We report on highly efficient blue, orange, and white phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes consisting only two organic layers. Hole transporting 4, 4,' 4"-tris (N-carbazolyl)triphenylamine (TcTa) and electron transporting 2-(diphenylphosphoryl) spirofluorene (SPPO1) are used as an emitting host for orange light-emitting bis(3-benzothiazol-2-yl-9-ethyl-9H-carbazolato) (acetoacetonate) iridium ((btc)2(acac)Ir) and blue light-emitting iridium(III)bis(4,6-difluorophenyl-pyridinato-N,C2') picolinate (FIrpic) dopant, respectively. Combining these two orange and blue light-emitting layers, we successfully demonstrate highly efficient white PHOLEDs while maintaining Commission internationale de l'eclairage coordinates of (x = 0.373, y = 0.443). Accordingly, we achieve a maximum external quantum, current, and power efficiencies of 12.9%, 30.3 cd/A, and 30.0 lm/W without out-coupling enhancement.

  • We have done various treatments of indium tin oxide (ITO) surface for organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), and investigated the surface states by different surface treatments using atomic force microscopy (AFM) and Auger electron spectroscopy (AES). We have fabricated OLEDs deposited by ultra-high vacuum molecular beam deposition system and studied the characteristics of the OLEDs. We have observed the dramatical improvement of the performance of OLEDs fabricated on ITO substrates treated by $O_2$ plasma treatment reduces the carbon comtamination of ITO surfaces and increases the work function of ITO.
