The electrolyte plays one of the most significant roles in the performance of electrochemical supercapacitors. Most liquid organic electrolytes used commercially have temperature and potential range constraints, which limit the possible energy and power output of the supercapacitor. The effect of elevated temperature on a lithium bis(oxalate)borate(LiBOB) salt-based electrolyte was evaluated in a symmetric supercapacitor assembled with activated carbon electrodes and different electrolyte blends of acetonitrile(ACN) and propylene carbonate(PC). The electrochemical properties were investigated using linear sweep voltammetry, cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge-discharge cycles, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. In particular, it was shown that LiBOB is stable at an operational temperature of $80^{\circ}C$, and that, blending the solvents helps to improve the overall performance of the supercapacitor. The cells retained about 81% of the initial specific capacitance after 1000 galvanic cycles in the potential range of 0-2.5 V. Thus, LiBOB/ACN:PC electrolytes exhibit a promising role in supercapacitor applications under elevated temperature conditions.
A water reuse system was designed for a demonstration plant by combining fiber filtration and electrolysis. A discharged dye wastewater after treated with biomedia was used in this study. It was found that an additional removal of suspended solids (SS) was feasible with 2-stage filtration while electrolysis was not effective. Also, $COD_{cr}$ and $COD_{Mn}$ were not removed with 2 -stage filtration but electrolysis resulted in about 26.9% additional removal. This indicates that electrolysis play an important role in organic removal. Removal of T-N and T-P was negligible with 1 and 2-stage fiber filtration and low-level electrolyte. However, with 2000 ppm of electrolyte, their removal efficiencies were about 83.1 and 60%, respectively, suggesting that the removal rates are well associated with the electrolyte concentrations. With high-level electrolyte, colority was removed about 82% while chlorine ions were removed only about 10%. Therefore, to treat underground water containing high-level salinity in the follow-up study, based on the results in this paper, a combined system with selection of additional unit process and reverse osmosis will be designed.

This study was carried out to analyze the microstructure characteristics of electrolyte membrane through XRD, SEM and AC impedance measurement for using in high temperature steam electrolysis(HTE). It was investigated that thermal stability and electric characteristics by sintering condition using dry and wet process, and confirmed growth of particle and density change by sintering temperature. The sintering temperature and behavior had an effect on the relative density of the ceramic and the average grain size. The more amount of dispersant in organic compound increase, the more the density increased. But the binder was shown opposite phenomenon. It was analyzed that electrolyte resistance and electrical characteristics using AC impedance. The electrical properties of YSZ grain boundary changed with the sintering temperature.
This work was performed to study the characteristics of electrochemical intercalation reactions occurring at the interface between the organic electrolyte and tungsten trioxide thin film (thickness of $4000{\AA}$) prepared by e-beam evaporation method as cathodically coloring oxide with regard to the electrochromism by the intercalating reactions of the lithium cation in the 1M $LiClO_4/PC$ organic solution. The characteristics of electrochemical intercalation reactions were investigated by various DC electrochemical methods such as cathodic Tafel polarization test, multiple and the single sweep cyclic voltammetry and the coulomety titrations method. The surfaces of thin films were observed with the patterns of X ray diffraction after the coloring and bleaching reactions. In comparison with the previous results that $WO_3$ thin film intersely detached from the surface of electrode when the hydrogen cation was intercalated into $WO_3$ thin film in the o.1N $H_2SO_4$ aqueous solution, the intercalation reaction of lithium cation into $WO_3$ thin film in the 1M $LiClO_4/PC$ organic solution was shown that the stable bleaching and coloration was appeared within 1.0V of the applied overpotential. When the overpotential of electrochromic reaction for lithium cation in the 1M $LiClO_4/PC$ organic solution had been applied up to 1.5V, the accumulation phenomenon of lithium in amorphous $WO_3$ thin film layer occurred because the inserted lithium into amorphous $WO_3$ thin layer for coloring process was not fully removed from the thin layer to the electrolyte during bleaching process. It was found that there is a limitation of applied overpotential for coloring process by the reduction of the current densities of bleaching and coloration after few number of coloring and bleaching cycles.

In this study, we reported a solid-state supercapacitor consisting of titanium nitride (TiN) nanofiber and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT-PSS) conducting polymer electrode and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)-based polymer electrolyte membrane. The TiN nanofiber was selected as electrode materials due to high electron conductivity and 2-dimensional structure which is beneficial for scaffold effect. PEDOT-PSS is suitable for organic/inorganic composites due to good redox reaction with hydrogen ions in electrolyte and good dispersion in solution. By synergetic effect of TiN nanofiber and PEDOT-PSS, the PEDOT-PSS/TiN electrode showed higher surface area than the flat Ti foil substrate. The PVA-based polymer electrolyte membrane could prevent leakage and explosion problem of conventional liquid electrolyte and possess high specific capacitance due to the fast ion diffusion of small $H^+$ ions. The specific capacitance of PEDOT-PSS/TiN supercapacitor reached 75 F/g, which was much higher than that of conventional carbon-based supercapacitors.

We have fabricated the supercapacitor composed of porous activated carbon, metal-organic framework (MOF) with polymer based solid state electrolyte as a "ion gel" and characterized its electrochemical behaviour as a function of the MOF contents. The electrochemical properties of the supercapacitor were analyzed via cyclic voltammetry(CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) and galvanostatic charge/discharge test. As a results, the supercapacitor based on porous activated carbon/MOF composite showed the highest capacitance value at 0.5 wt% of MOF contents and decreased capacitance with increase MOF contents over the 0.5 wt%. Consequently, the porous activated carbon/MOF composite based supercapacitor is applicable to various aspect for energy storage device.

Cu has been used for metallic interconnects in ULSI applications because of its lower resistivity according to the scaling down of semiconductor devices. The resistivity of Cu lines will affect the RC delay and will limit signal propagation in integrated circuits. In this study, we investigated the characteristics of electroplated Cu films according to the variation of concentration of organic additives. The plating electrolyte composed of $CuSO_4{\cdot}5H_2O$, $H_2SO_4$ and HCl, was fixed. The sheet resistance was measured with a four-point probe and the material properties were investigated with XRD (X-ray Diffraction), AFM (Atomic Force Microscope), FE-SEM (Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope) and XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy). From these experimental results, we found that the organic additives play an important role in formation of Cu film with lower resistivity by EPD.
In this study, the effect of additives on the performance of aqueous organic redox flow battery (AORFB) using quinoxaline and ferrocyanide as active materials in alkaline supporting electrolyte is investigated. Quinoxaline shows the lowest redox potential (-0.97 V) in KOH supporting electrolyte, while when quinoxaline and ferrocyanide are used as the target active materials, the cell voltage of this redox combination is 1.3 V. When the single cell tests of AORFBs using 0.1 M active materials in 1 M KCl supporting electrolyte and Nafion 117 membrane are implemented, it does not work properly because of the side reaction of quinoxaline. To reduce or prevent the side reaction of quinoxaline, the two types of additives are considered. They are the potassium sulfate as electrophile additive and potassium iodide as nucleophilie additive. Of them, when the single cell tests of AORFBs using potassium iodide as additive dissolved in quinoxaline solution are performed, the capacity loss rate is reduced to $0.21Ah{\cdot}L^{-1}per\;cycle$ and it is better than that of the single cell test of AORFB operated without additive ($0.29Ah{\cdot}L^{-1}per\;cycle$).
In this study, copper was recovered from copper containing sludge by selectively controlling electro-refining process conditions in copper sulfate electrolyte solution. Electro-refining process was performed by LSV (Linear Sweep Voltammetry) result according to copper sulfate electrolyte solution concentration, applied current density, additive type and concentration. SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) and PSA (Particle Size Analyzer) were used to analyze the shape and size of copper powder. In the 0.1 ~ 0.4 M copper sulfate electrolyte solution without organic additives, the copper powder size decreased as the applied current density became closer to the limiting current density and the copper powder size tended to decrease in 0.2 ~ 0.3 M copper sulfate electrolyte solution. In addition, when the shape and size of the copper powder were analyzed by adding various types and concentrations of organic additives to the previous experimental, fine spherical copper powder having the smallest size (nm) was obtained under the condition of cellulose type additive 2,000 ppm.

A space charge effect at the doped silicon semiconductor/organic solvent ($C_6H_6$, $CH_3OH$, $C_2H_5OH$) interfaces and a mechanism for two reversals of zeta potentials at the undoped polycrystalline gallium arsenide semiconductor/electrolyte (NaCl, KCl, KI solution) interfaces has been qualitatively analyzed using microelectrophoresis measurements. It has been found that the space charge effect in the organic solvents can be neglected and the two reversals of zeta potentials depend on surface states, specific adsorption, electronegativity and size of specifically adsorbed ions at the undoped polycrystalline gallium arsenide/electrolyte interfaces. The position of shear plane of colloidal semiconductors is a fixed distance from the surface and is almost or exactly coincides with the outer Helmholtz plane (OHP).
