적염 섭취 식단 모델을 제시하기 위한 상용 음식의 최적 염미도 측정 및 적염 식단 모델 (Measurement and Evaluation of Optimum Salt Concentration in Usual Dishes for the Menu Suggestion)

  • This study was to seek menu model in usual dishes to guarantee the optimum salt intake considering the optimum gustation of salt surveyed on Korean adults. First, a pilot test was practiced using rice gruel to determine the criteria and a meaningful interval of salt concentration. Based on the criteria and interval so determined, a test was performed to seek the optimum gustation of salt concentration in usual diets. Subjectgroup for the above tests was university students living in Kyung-Book area. The results were as follows: 1. Mode value of the optimum gustation of salt was 0.5% and the received threshold difference of salt was 0.2% in the pilot test. 2. Mode values of the optimum gustation of salt in a la carte, soups and stews were lower than those of other side dishes. 3. But the portion size of a la carte, soups and stews is much larger than that of other side dishes, so that a la carte, soups and stews are sources of relatively larger amount of salt than other side dishes. 4. Considering the recommended optimum salt intake, it is desirable to reduce the amount of stock in soups and stews and to select fried food or salad more frequently.

  • An optimum thermal design analysis of the combined cycle power plant with triple pressure heat recovery steam generator was performed by the numerical simulation. The optimum design module used in the paper is DNCONF, a function of IMSL Library, which is widly known as a method to search for the local optimum. The objective function to be minimized is the cost of total power plant including the steam turbine power enhancement premium. The result of this paper shows that the cost reduces if the design point of power plant becomes the local optimum, and many calculations at various initial conditions should be carried out to get the value near the global optimum.

  • Using the design variables and conditions reported in the rut part of this paper, an analysis and optimum design of the tractor-rotary power driveline were carried out. The optimum design method involved 1 variable, 2 variable and multiple variable analysis performed as requested in the design process. In order to evaluate the effects of the design variables on the power transmission performance a sensitivity analysis were also conducted. the results indicated that the length and link point of the upper link, the upper hitch point of the implement master and the location of the implement input connection affect most significantly the driveline performance. The optimum design improved the performance of an exampled tractor-rotary driveline by 93% in terms of cosine ratio.

Optimum design of FRP box-girder bridges

  • Light weight superstructure is beneficial for bridges in remote areas and in emergency erection. In such weight sensitive applications, combination of fibre reinforced plastics (FRP) as material and box-girders as a structural system have great scope. This combination offers various options to tailor structure and its elements but this flexibility poses greater challenge in optimum design. In this paper a procedure is derived for a generalised optimum design of FRP box-girder bridges, using genetic algorithms (GA). The formulation of the optimum design problem in the form of objective function and constraints is presented. Size, configuration and topology optimization are done simultaneously. A few optimum design studies are carried out to check the performance of the developed procedure and to get trends in the optimum design which will be helpful to the new designers.

Simplified method to design laterally loaded piles with optimum shape and length

  • Optimum shape and length of laterally loaded piles can be obtained with different optimization techniques. In particular, the Fully Stress Design method (FSD) is an optimality condition that allows to obtain the optimum shape of the pile, while the optimum length can be obtained through a transversality condition at the pile lower end. Using this technique, the structure is analysed by finite elements and shaped through the FSD method by contemporarily checking that the transversality condition is satisfied. In this paper it is noted that laterally loaded piles with optimum shape and length have some peculiar characteristics, depending on the type of cross-section, that allow to design them with simple calculations without using finite element analysis. Some examples illustrating the proposed simplified design method of laterally loaded piles with optimum shape and length are introduced.

  • During severe emergencies which result in insufficient generation to meet load, an automatic load shedding method considering the spinning and operating reserve can establish the optimum system operation. This paper presents methods and results of a study on the optimum operating scheme with spinning and operating reserve power in case of outage of large generator units to prevent frequency decay and continue stable operation. This study covers following three parts 1) Analysis of spinning reserve characteristics 2) Determination of operating reserve requirements 3) Development of the optimum load shedding programs By this study the optimum system operating method was recommended for reliable operation of power system.

  • This paper presents an optimum design of journal bearings using a hybrid method to find the solutions of optimization problem. The present hybrid algorithm, namely Enhanced Artificial Life Algorithm(EALA), is a synthesis of an artificial life algorithm(ALA) and the random tabu search(R-tabu) method. EALA is applied to the optimum design of journal bearings supporting simple rotor. The applicability of EALA to optimum design of rotor-bearing system is exemplified through this study.

  • Two kinds of blank shapes, optimum and square, are adopted to investigate formbility. Optimum blank shape is determined to construct an L-shape cup with uniform height and without flange part. For this purpose , rigid-plastic FEM analysis is applied with backward tracing technique. Maximum cup detph and strain distribution are measured experimetally for the products of the two kinds of blank shapes, which are optimum and square.It is confirmed that deeper cup without severe thickness reduction can be obtained fro the optimum shape.

  • The generalized Neyman-Pearson lemma Is reformulated In the framework of the fuzzy set theory. Based on the result, we define the locally optimum fuzzy test and derive the locally optimum fuzzy test function. As a pratical application of the locally optimum fuzzy test, detection of weak deterministic signals corrupted by purely-adative noise Is considered, which Is an important problem In statistical signal processing. Comparisons between the locally optimum and the locally optimum fuzzy tests are also made.

O/W 나노에멀젼 분산안정성에 미치는 보관온도의 영향 (Effect of Storage Temperature on the Dispersion Stability of O/W Nano-emulsions)

  • In this study, the emulsion dispersion stability of optimizing storage temperature was investigated. The system was based on oil/water (O/W) emulsions. In order to evaluate the stability, mean diameter of droplet was measured as a function of temperature with various mixed hydrophilic lipophilic balance (HLB). In addition, the correlations between phase inversion temperature (PIT) and the optimum storage temperature were probed. In this system, majority of the smallest droplet was shown at temperature of $20^{\circ}C$ below PIT. Whether the temperature was increased or decreased from the optimum, size of the droplet increased. According to the mixed HLB, the particle size and optimum storage temperature were also affected. As the concentrations of surfactant were increased, the size of particle decreased with lower optimum temperature for storage. If the surfactant (4 wt%) were mixed with HLB, the optimum storage temperature was $21^{\circ}C$ for maintaining the size of smallest droplet at 108.3 nm in diameter. At above optimum condition, increased size of particle was observed approximately 4 % increases from 108.2 nm to 112.3 nm after 600 hours. The size of particle in emulsion was maintained stably without any considerable effect of Ostwald ripening phenomena at the optimum storage temperature with low polydispersity index.
