This study evaluated the effects of culture conditions, including carbon and nitrogen sources, L-monosodium glutamate (MSG), and initial pH, on gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) production by Lactobacillus brevis HYE1 isolated from kimchi, a Korean traditional fermented food. L. brevis HYE1 was screened by the production analysis of GABA and genetic analysis of the glutamate decarboxylase gene, resulting in 14.64 mM GABA after 48 h of cultivation in MRS medium containing 1% (w/v) MSG. In order to increase GABA production by L. brevis HYE1, the effects of carbon and nitrogen sources on GABA production were preliminarily investigated via one-factor-at-a-time optimization strategy. As the results, 2% maltose and 3% tryptone were determined to produce 17.93 mM GABA in modified MRS medium with 1% (w/v) MSG. In addition, the optimal MSG concentration and initial pH were determined to be 1% and 5.0, respectively, resulting in production of 18.97 mM GABA. Thereafter, response surface methodology (RSM) was applied to determine the optimal conditions of the above four factors. The results indicate that pH was the most significant factor for GABA production. The optimal culture conditions for maximum GABA production were also determined to be 2.14% (w/v) maltose, 4.01% (w/v) tryptone, 2.38% (w/v) MSG, and an initial pH of 4.74. In these conditions, GABA production by L. brevis HYE1 was predicted to be 21.44 mM using the RSM model. The experiment was performed under these optimized conditions, resulting in GABA production of 18.76 mM. These results show that the predicted and experimental values of GABA production are in good agreement.

Executions of SCM in a chemical company of which divisions produce petrochemicals, compounds, batteries, IT material and medicine directly affect their own profit. Execution level of SCM or optimization is very important. This work presents activities of SCM and optimization of inefficient issues in several industrial divisions using mathematical optimization method. The meaning is not only academic research but also making a useful tool which active partner deals with in his work. It is explained how to do beforehand and afterward optimization problem. The benefits are mentioned in the sections. The first of examples would be cover supply plan optimization, optimal profit business plan, and scheduling of a stretching process of polarizer based on minimizing raw material loss in polarizer production. The second example would be cover the optimization of production/packaging plans to maximize productivity of Poly Olefin processes, and the third example is minimization of transition loss in the production of battery electrodes. The fourth example would be cover scheduling of vessel approaching to berth. Because transportation of large portion of raw material and products of petrochemical industry is dealt with vessel, scheduling of vessel approaching to berth is important at the shore of large difference of tide. The final example would be scheduling problem to minimization of change over time of ABS semi products.
The paper addresses contribution to the modeling and optimization of major machinability parameters (cutting force, surface roughness, and tool wear) in finish dry hard turning (FDHT) for machinability evaluation of hardened AISI grade die steel D3 with PVD-TiN coated (Al2O3-TiCN) mixed ceramic tool insert. The turning trials are performed based on Taguchi's L18 orthogonal array design of experiments for the development of regression model as well as adequate model prediction by considering tool approach angle, nose radius, cutting speed, feed rate, and depth of cut as major machining parameters. The models or correlations are developed by employing multiple regression analysis (MRA). In addition, statistical technique (response surface methodology) followed by computational approaches (genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization) have been employed for multiple response optimization. Thereafter, the effectiveness of proposed three (RSM, GA, PSO) optimization techniques are evaluated by confirmation test and subsequently the best optimization results have been used for estimation of energy consumption which includes savings of carbon footprint towards green machining and for tool life estimation followed by cost analysis to justify the economic feasibility of PVD-TiN coated Al2O3+TiCN mixed ceramic tool in FDHT operation. Finally, estimation of energy savings, economic analysis, and sustainability assessment are performed by employing carbon footprint analysis, Gilbert approach, and Pugh matrix, respectively. Novelty aspects, the present work: (i) contributes to practical industrial application of finish hard turning for the shaft and die makers to select the optimum cutting conditions in a range of hardness of 45-60 HRC, (ii) demonstrates the replacement of expensive, time-consuming conventional cylindrical grinding process and proposes the alternative of costlier CBN tool by utilizing ceramic tool in hard turning processes considering technological, economical and ecological aspects, which are helpful and efficient from industrial point of view, (iii) provides environment friendliness, cleaner production for machining of hardened steels, (iv) helps to improve the desirable machinability characteristics, and (v) serves as a knowledge for the development of a common language for sustainable manufacturing in both research field and industrial practice.

Evaluation indices of the panelizing optimization for Architectural freeform surfaces are proposed for quantitative evaluation through the case studies on panelizing optimization and evaluation index for Architectural freeform surfaces. Proposed evaluation items are adherence to original design intent, production ease, and continuity. The evaluation index for adherence to original design intent is surfaces fitness, the evaluation indices for production ease are planarity, planar panel ratio, and the evaluation indices for continuity are tangent continuity, and divergence. Algorithms are also suggested to compute the proposed evaluation indices.
For the purpose of optimizing poly-l3-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) production from Alcaligenes eutrophus, two-stage fed-batch culture was adopted. In this system, specifk growth rate was maximized during the first stage whereas specific production rate was maximized during the second stage. The optimal concentrations of glucose and ammonium chloride were 16.6 and 0.54 g/I in the growth stage and 20.0 and 0.07 g/l in the production stage, respectively. Proportional feedback control considering time lag was suggested for PHB production process and a simulator was developed for real-time control purpose.
Recently, it was possible to represent the realistic clothes in the cloth simulation along with growth of 3D computer animation such as visual contents. In addition, because of the development of H/W(Hardware) and S/W(Software), the accessibility and participation are growing. However, in order to make the image of high quality of 3D animation, the optimized production pipeline was need. In this paper, in order to overcome the limitation of exiting 3D computer animation production pipeline, we propose the optimized production pipeline of the cloth simulation. Our production pipeline makes the optimization arrangement in consideration of the mobility in order to supplement the related structure limit toward each part of the existing pipeline. Moreover, by utilizing the dummy cloth the association nature with the animation part is solved and a performance is improved. The proposal pipeline actually introduced to the animation production. And then we can improve the performance production time and production manpower consumption. Consequently, our pipeline is guaranteed an optimized work by emphasizing a connection in the direct image production.

In this study, we sought to investigate the production and optimization of biosurfactants by soil fungi isolated from petroleum oil-contaminated soil in Saudi Arabia. Forty-four fungal isolates were isolated from ten petroleum oil-contaminated soil samples. All isolates were identified using the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region, and biosurfactant screening showed that thirty-nine of the isolates were positive. Aspergillus niger SA1 was the highest biosurfactant producer, demonstrating surface tension, drop collapsing, oil displacement, and an emulsification index (E24) of 35.8 mN/m, 0.55 cm, 6.7 cm, and 70%, respectively. This isolate was therefore selected for biosurfactant optimization using the Fit Group model. The biosurfactant yield was increased 1.22 times higher than in the nonoptimized medium (8.02 g/l) under conditions of pH 6, temperature 35℃, waste frying oil (5.5 g), agitation rate of 200 rpm, and an incubation period of 7 days. Model significance and fitness analysis had an RMSE score of 0.852 and a p-value of 0.0016. The biosurfactant activities were surface tension (35.8 mN/m), drop collapsing (0.7 cm), oil displacement (4.5 cm), and E24 (65.0%). The time course of biosurfactant production was a growth-associated phase. The main outputs of the mathematical model for biomass yield were Yx/s (1.18), and µmax (0.0306) for biosurfactant yield was Yp/s (1.87) and Yp/x (2.51); for waste frying oil consumption the So was 55 g/l, and Ke was 2.56. To verify the model's accuracy, percentage errors between biomass and biosurfactant yields were determined by experimental work and calculated using model equations. The average error of biomass yield was 2.68%, and the average error percentage of biosurfactant yield was 3.39%.
The present study was carried out to optimize fermentation parameters for the production of cellulolytic enzymes through solid substrate fermentation of Trichoderma reesei and Aspergillus niger grown on wheat straw. A sequential optimization based on one-factor-at-a-time method was applied to optimize fermentation parameters including temperature, pH, moisture content and particle size. The results of optimization indicated that $40^{\circ}C$, pH 7, moisture content 75% and particle size between 0.25~0.5 mm were found to be the optimum condition at 96 hr fermentation. Under the optimal condition, co-culture of T. reesei and A. niger produced cellulase activities of 10.3 IU, endoglucanase activity of 100.3 IU, ${\beta}$-glucosidase activity of 22.9 IU and xylanase activity of 2261.7 IU/g dry material were obtained. Cellulolytic enzyme production with optimization showed about 72.6, 48.8, 55.2 and 51.9% increase compared to those obtained from control experiment, respectively.

In manufacturing companies, different types of production have been developed based on diverse production strategies and differentiated technologies. The production systems have become smart, factories are filled with unmanned manufacturing lines, and sustainable manufacturing technologies are under development. Nowadays, the digital manufacturing technology is being adopted and used in manufacturing industries. When this technology is applied, a lot of efforts, time and cost are required and training professionals in-house is limited. In this paper, we introduce e-FEED system (electronic based Front End Engineering and Design) that is the integrated design and analysis system for optimized manufacturing line development on virtual environment. This system provides the functions that can be designed easily using library and template based on standardized modules and analyzed automatically the logistic and capacity simulation by one-click and verified the result using visual reports. Also, we can review the factory layout using automatically created 3D virtual factory and increase the knowledge reuse by e-FEED system.
The aim of this work was to establish the optimal conditions for production of carboxymethylcellulase (CMCase) by a newly isolated marine bacterium using response surface methodology (RSM). A microorganism producing CMCase, isolated from seawater, was identified as Cellulophaga lytica based 16S rDNA sequencing and the neighborjoining method. The optimal conditions of rice bran, ammonium chloride, and initial pH of the medium for cell growth were 100.0 g/l, 5.00 g/l, and 7.0, respectively, whereas those for production of CMCase were 79.9 g/l, 8.52 g/l, and 6.1. The optimal concentrations of $K_2HPO_4$, NaCl, $MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$, and $(NH_4)_2SO_4$ for cell growth were 6.25, 0.62, 0.28, and 0.42 g/l, respectively, whereas those for production of CMCase were 3.72, 0.54, 0.70, and 0.34 g/l. The optimal temperature for cell growth and the CMCase production by C. lytica LBH-14 were $35^{\circ}C$ and $25^{\circ}C$, respectively. The maximal production of CMCase under optimized condition for 3 days was 110.8 U/ml, which was 5.3 times higher than that before optimization. In this study, rice bran and ammonium chloride were developed as carbon and nitrogen sources for the production of CMCase by C. lytica LBH-14. The time for production of CMCase by a newly isolated marine bacterium with submerged fermentations reduced to 3 days, which resulted in enhanced productivity of CMCase and a decrease in its production cost.
