  • An optimization framework using genetic algorithms has been developed towards an automated parametric optimization of the Octabuoy semi-submersible design. Compared with deep draft production units, the design of the shallow draught Octabuoy semi-submersible provides a floating system with improved motion characteristics, being less susceptible to vortex induced motions in loop currents. The relatively large water plane area results in a decreased natural heave period, which locates the floater in the wave period range with more wave energy. Considering this, the hull design of Octabuoy semi-submersible has been optimized to improve the floater's motion performance. The optimization has been conducted with optimized parameters of the pontoon's rectangular cross section area, the cone shaped section's height and diameter. Through numerical evaluations of both the 1st-order and 2nd-order hydrodynamics, the optimization through genetic algorithms has been proven to provide improved hydrodynamic performance, in terms of heave and pitch motions. This work presents a meaningful framework as a reference in the process of floating system's design.

  • A LCD glass plate is supported by multi-pin and golf-tee type support. In the FEM analysis, the support condition is treated as simply supported boundary .condition. In this study, the optimization on the location of multi-simply support is conducted. The size optimization method of ANSYS 8.0 is used as the optimization tool to search for the optimal support location of LCD glass plate. In the manufacturing process, the support condition is a fatal factor of quality control of LCD production. From the results of optimization, deflection decreases 51% compared with the original model.

  • Optimization of culture conditions for L-asparaginase production by submerged fermentation of Aspergillus terreus MTCC 1782 was studied using a 3-level central composite design of response surface methodology and artificial neural network linked genetic algorithm. The artificial neural network linked genetic algorithm was found to be more efficient than response surface methodology. The experimental $_L$-asparaginase activity of 43.29 IU/ml was obtained at the optimum culture conditions of temperature $35^{\circ}C$, initial pH 6.3, inoculum size 1% (v/v), agitation rate 140 rpm, and incubation time 58.5 h of the artificial neural network linked genetic algorithm, which was close to the predicted activity of 44.38 IU/ml. Characteristics of $_L$-asparaginase production by A. terreus MTCC 1782 were studied in a 3 L bench-scale bioreactor.

  • This paper presents a new method for optimal real and reactive power dispatch for the economic operation of a power system. Unlike the usual approach of minimizing the transmission loss, this method minimizes the total production cost not only for the real power optimization problem, but also for the reactive power optimization. The control variables are real power generation of units for real power optimization, and reactive power optimization. The constraints are the operating limits on these control variables and the limits on the bus voltages. Methematical models are developed to represent the sensitivity relationships between dependent and control variables for both real and reactive power optimization modules, and thus eliminate the use of B-coefficients. In order to handle many functional inequality constraints, a modified version of the gradient projection method is developed for optimization procedure, and has shown a remarkable advantage in computation efficiency.

  • The use of nuclear reactors is a large studied possible solution for thermochemical water splitting cycles. Nevertheless, there are several problems that have to be solved. One of them is to increase the efficiency of the cycles. Hence, in this paper, a thermal energy optimization of a Sulfur-Iodine nuclear hydrogen production cycle was performed by means a heuristic method with the aim of minimizing the energy targets of the heat exchanger network at different minimum temperature differences. With this method, four different heat exchanger networks are proposed. A reduction of the energy requirements for cooling ranges between 58.9-59.8% and 52.6-53.3% heating, compared to the reference design with no heat exchanger network. With this reduction, the thermal efficiency of the cycle increased in about 10% in average compared to the reference efficiency. This improves the use of thermal energy of the cycle.

  • An efficient algorithm for planning near-optimum trajectory of manipulators is proposed. The algorithm is divided into two stages. The first one is the optimization of time trajectory with given spatial path. And the second one is the optimization of the spatial path itself. To consider the second problem, the manipulator dynamics is represented using the path parameter "s", then a differential equation corresponding to the dynamics is solved as two point boundary value problem. In this procedure, the gradient method is used to calculate improved input torques.t torques.

However Learned in actual school education kinetic, and the use to how product design structural knowledge, Often it feels vague unlikely whether it is possible to derive an optimal product. In this study, by using the simulation-based Jansen Mechanism designed a walking robot, after optimization of the numerical consideration when designing for optimum walking motion, through simulation through the actual production resulting numerical information is examined whether valid. In addition, through the actual production was walking robot, to verify the validity of the simulation-based design.

  • Hydrogen is considered a key energy source to achieve carbon neutrality through the global goal of 'net zero'. Due to limitations in producing green hydrogen domestically, Korean companies are interested in importing green hydrogen produced overseas. The Middle East has high-quality solar energy resources and is attracting attention as a region producing green hydrogen using renewable energy. To build a green ammonia plant, optimization of the production facility configuration and economic feasibility analysis are required. It is expected that it will contribute to reviewing the economic feasibility of constructing overseas hydrogen production plants through preliminary economic feasibility analysis.
