The subscriber access network is cause of the bottleneck phenomenon because equipment and infrastructure were not originally designed for busty high-bandwidth traffic between MAN(Metro Area Network) and LAN(Local Area Network). Whether riding on shorter copper drops or optical fiber, Ethernet is emerging as the future broadband protocol of choice, offering plug and play simplicity, and low cost. EPON(Ethernet Passive Optical Network) combines point-to-multipoint optical infrastructure with low-cost high-bandwidth Ethernet. The future broadband access network will be a combination of point-to-point and point-to-multipoint Ethernet, optimized for transporting IP data, as well as time critical voice and video. EPON is being considered as a novel communications infrastructure for next-generation broadband access network for the convergence of low-cost Ethernet equipment and low-cost fiber infrastructure. But, EPON has a problem with duplex multimedia services. It is the insufficiency of bandwidth for upstream. Because all ONUs use a shared transmission media for upstream. In this paper, we addressed the problem of upstream bandwidth in EPONs. We presented a wavelength division EPON supporting QoS in the differentiated services framework.
A 'VPN over Intemet' has the benefit of being cost-effective and flexible. However, it has difficulties providing sufficient QoS and adequate transmission capacity for high bandwidth service. Given the increasing demand for high bandwidth Internet and QoS assurances in a 'VPN over Internet', IP/GMPLS based on a control plane combined with a high bandwidth, DWDM optical network is seen as a very favorable anroach for realizing the future 'OVPN over IP/GMPLS over DWDM'. Within this architecture, providing QoS guaranteed multimedia services with a differentiated QoS guaranteed protocol framework with QoS recovery is one of the key issues to implement. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest the entire interoperability procedure of control protocols based on differentiated optical QoS service (DOQOS) classes for providing end-to-end QoS in an 'OVPN over IP/GMPLS over DWDM' architecture.
As the demand for broadband multimedia including the Internet explosively increases, the advancement of the subscriber network is becoming the biggest issue in the telecommunication industry due to the surge of data traffic caused by the emergence of new services such as smart phone, IPTV, VoIP, VOD and cloud services. In this paper, we have developed WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing)-PON(passive optical network) based on the 1-Gigabit Reach Externder (RE) technique to reduce optical core. Particularly, in order to strengthen the market competitiveness, we considered low cost, miniaturization, integration technique, and low power of optical parts. In addition, we have developed a batch system by integrating all techniques for reliability, remote management through the development of transmission distance extension and development of capacity increase of optical line by using RE technology in existing PON network. Based on system interworking with existing commercial 1G PON devices, it can be worthy of achievement of wide nationalization and optical core reduction by using this developed system. Based on these results, we are studying development of 10G PON technology.
In this paper, we propose a new optical switching system as a infrastructure of the BcN, in which the high traffic volume will be expected due to the multimedia service, like P2P services. Because the JET protocol, the most popular protocol in OBS (Optical Burst Switching) research area, has high blocking probability for burst, it prevents commercialization in real network for its low throughput in TCP layer. To improve high blocking rate in OBS network, we segment large network into small network and perform burst scheduling to avoid burst loss. By using proposed scheme, Internet provider can reduce network deployment cost in Metro network as well as large mesh core networks
In this paper, we propose the next-generation broadband wireless access network architecture, which is based on the wavelength division multiplexing-passive optical network(WDM-PON), and efficient mobility management scheme to support quality-of-service(QoS) of multimedia services in the next-generation wireless network. By adapting WDM-PON technology to wireless access network, the proposed scheme can realize broadband wireless access network. In addition, We utilize newly proposed local channels between optical network units(ONUs) or subnets in order to support the fast and efficient local data and handoff data transmission. We evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme in terms of handoff delay and packet loss thru computer simulation. Thru various computer simulation results, we verified the superior performance of the proposed scheme by comparing with the results of other schemes.
Due to advance in multimedia applications and integrated Internet services, the optical access networks have been actively studied. In particular, Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) has received much attention due to high bandwidth provision with low cost. In EPON system, the data transmission is carried out in two directions: downstream (from OLT to ONU) and upstream (from ONU to OLT). The downstream data is broadcasted to every ONUs, while the upstream data is point-to-point transmitted between each ONU and OLT, where the uplink is shared by all ONUs in the form of TDMA. The bandwidth allocation algorithm is required to efficiently manage the bandwidth on the uplink. The limited algorithm was proposed to enhance the capability of dynamic bandwidth allocation. In this paper, we propose the adaptive limited algorithm to enhance the shortcomings of limited algorithm. The adaptive limited algorithm enhances the dynamics on bandwidth allocation, and at the same time controls the fairness on packet delay. Through the computer simulations, it is shown that the adaptive limited algorithm achieves high dynamic on bandwidth allocation, maintains a good fairness on packet delay between ONUs, and keeps the fairness on the bandwidth on the demand basis.
In this paper, we proposed the MAC protocol of APON supporting multi-class traffic such as CBBUVBR, ABR, UBR, to guarantee the required QoS of each service. For this, we analyze the performance of variousrequest mechanisms and employee the different request mechanism for each traffic classes. Upstream anddownstream frame structures to minimize transmission overhead are proposed based on our request mechanism. The proposed MAC protocol applies the different priority to permit distribution process. CBBWBR traffic, withthe stringent requirements on CDV or delay, is allocated prior to any other class. ABR traffic, which hasnon-strict CDV or delay criteria, uses flexibly the available bandwidth but ensures a minimum cell rate (MCR).UBR traffic is allocated with lowest priority for the remaining capacity. The performance of proposed protocol isevaluated in terms of transfer delay and 1-point CDV with various offered load. The result of simulation showsthat the proposed protocol guarantees the required QoS of the corresponding category, while making use of theavailable resources in both an efficient and dynamical way.
With the ever-increasing importance of high-speed information in society as we move towards the 21 st century, telecommunication laboratories of advanced nations are pressing forward with research and development aimed at implementing its W & P(Visual Intelligent and Personal) services and construction of a new network to support them. In legals to the former, based on a long-term view of technological and market trends, those laboratories are researching and developing services that will make possible an effective progression from the development of services that answer to potential needs towards the full-scale implementation of VI & P services. In regards to the latter, these laboratories are responding in a flexible manner to the increasing diversity and disposal of the communications environment by separating the network into a transmission system and a versatile information control/conversion -ion system and laboratories are working at enhancing the performance of both. Within these board aims, the laboratories are currently focusing our attention in three areas : the technology for a high-speed broadband transmission system featuring optical frequency multiplexing and ATM techniques, network and software technologies for advanced information control and conversion, and technology for constructing a new access network that can provide a comprehensive range of multimedia services. This article describes the laboratories' concept of how VI & P services will develop in the future, and the latest trends in the field of communications. It also describes the ideal configuration of the new network and discusses the important technological aspects of how it is to be constructed. Finally, it presents the results of the laboratories'recent research which include some innovative work, point out the areas requiring future investigation.
The wall shear stress in the vicinity of end-to end anastomoses under steady flow conditions was measured using a flush-mounted hot-film anemometer(FMHFA) probe. The experimental measurements were in good agreement with numerical results except in flow with low Reynolds numbers. The wall shear stress increased proximal to the anastomosis in flow from the Penrose tubing (simulating an artery) to the PTFE: graft. In flow from the PTFE graft to the Penrose tubing, low wall shear stress was observed distal to the anastomosis. Abnormal distributions of wall shear stress in the vicinity of the anastomosis, resulting from the compliance mismatch between the graft and the host artery, might be an important factor of ANFH formation and the graft failure. The present study suggests a correlation between regions of the low wall shear stress and the development of anastomotic neointimal fibrous hyperplasia(ANPH) in end-to-end anastomoses. 30523 T00401030523 ^x Air pressure decay(APD) rate and ultrafiltration rate(UFR) tests were performed on new and saline rinsed dialyzers as well as those roused in patients several times. C-DAK 4000 (Cordis Dow) and CF IS-11 (Baxter Travenol) reused dialyzers obtained from the dialysis clinic were used in the present study. The new dialyzers exhibited a relatively flat APD, whereas saline rinsed and reused dialyzers showed considerable amount of decay. C-DAH dialyzers had a larger APD(11.70
