  • The metallographic examination and hardness measurements were conducted for the rotor of the 500 MW tandem steam turbine of Unit 4 in Dangjin Thermal Power Plants at the locations of steam inlet where the high temperature steams pass; high and intermediate pressure turbines. Creep cavity and degradation levels of optical micrographs of them are observed. The remaining life time of 201,523h for the rotor of the 500 MW tandem steam turbine of Unit 4 in Dangjin Thermal Power Plants was determined by the results of the inspection.

  • ZnS nanowalls, microspheres and rice-shaped nanoparticles have been successfully grown on graphene oxide (GO) sheets by the hydrothermal method. The morphologies, structures, chemical compositions and optical properties of the as-synthesized GO/ZnS have been characterized by X-ray power diffraction, energy dispersive spectrometer, scanning electron microscope, Raman spectra, photoluminescence spectroscopy and ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy. It was found that the concentration of CTAB and the reaction temperature were important in the formation of GO/ZnS microstructures. The photocatalytic activity of the as-synthesized GO/ZnS was investigated through the photocatalytic degradation of textile dyeing waste. Results showed that the catalytic activity of the GO/ZnS porous spheres to methyl orange and methylene blue is higher than those of other samples. The degradation rates of methyl orange and methylene blue by porous spheres in 50 min were 97.6 and 97.1%, respectively. This is mainly attributed to the large specific surface area of GO/ZnS porous spheres and high separation efficiency between photogenerated electron and hole pairs.

  • The purpose of this work designed hybrid-structured and plasma effect photocatalyst of $Ag/In_2O_3/TiO_2/HNTs$ via sol-gel and photo-reduction methods. The structures, morphologies, optical and photoelectric performances of as-prepared photocatalysts were characterized via XRD, TEM, XPS, BET, UV-vis DRS, PL and photocurrents. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by degradation of TC. The results showed that the hybrid-structure and plasma effect can effectively cause the multi-transfer of electrons and increase the separation rate of electron and hole pairs which obtained high photocatalytic activity. The photocatalytic degradation processes reveal that $^{\bullet}O_2{^-}$ and $h^+$ are major active species.

  • A new method on the evaluation of insulation oil was proposed. Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) was applied to investigate the properties of the insulating oil. For the diagnostics of oil degradation, three kinds of oils have been analyzed by THz-TDS. The degraded oil showed different optical and electrical constants compared with a new one. Generally, the power absorption coefficient, the refractive index, the dielectric constant and loss $tan{\delta}$ of the oil increase as the aging of insulating oil proceed. And the characteristics of two kind of insulation oil, 1-4 and 7-4, was compared in terahertz spectral region. Difference in refractive index and complex dielectric constant has been observed between the samples. The results of this study suggest that THz-TDS is a promising new means for evaluating degradation and identification of insulating oil.

  • The thermal degradation of electroplated black chrome coating on Ni substrates has been investigated by using Auger electron spectroscopy technique. The sample was prepared by electroplating at $20^{\circ}C$ for 20 seconds with the current density at $0.4A/cm^2$. Its surface oxidation process was investigated with 1 hour annealed sample for a temperature range of $300-550^{\circ}C$. While its optical solar absorption was dominated by fine metallic Cr particles, thermal degradation was occurred primarily by oxidation of metallic Cr particles as increasing the annealing temperature.

  • Electrochromic tungsten oxide films were prepared by the electron beam deposition, and the dependence of the electrochemical stability and the optical properties on the titanium concentration, and on the annealing temperature, that was investigated. coloring and bleaching experiments were repeated by cyclic voltammetry in a propylene carbonate solution of LiClO4. Spectrometry was used to assess the stability of the transmittance in the degraded films. Tungsten oxide films with titanium contents of about 10~15 mol% were found to be most stable, undergoing the least degradation during the repeated for coloring and bleaching cycles. The reason for this small amount of degradation was the reduction of lithium ion trapping sites in the films, which results in an increased durability. Tungsten oxide films with titanium contents of about 20 mol% were annealed at 20$0^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour, and this results showed that durability of films were increased.

  • Effects of contact damage and residual stress for two kinds of dental restorative layered ceramics, porcelain/alumina and porcelain/zirconia bilayers, were observed with Hertzian and Vickers indentation methods. Indentation stress-strain behavior of each material, strength degradation of the coating material, and crack propagation behavior in the coating layer after Vickers indentation were examined by an optical microscope. As a result, porcelain as coating materials showed the classical brittleness. It was inferred that damage and strength in two bilayer system were dependent on thermal expansion mismatch between the coating material and the substrate, which affected the strength degradation. Residual stress resulting from thermal expansion mismtch was formed in the coating layer, and specially in the case of porcelain/zirconia, residual stress was eliminated as coating thickness decreased.

  • The negative bias temperature instability on LTPS TFTs in a darkened and an illuminated environment was investigated. Experimental results reveal that the generation of interface state density showed no change between the different NBTI stresses. The degradation of the grain boundary trap under illumination was more significant than for the darkened environment.

  • It is desirable that the implementation of next generation information infrastructure is the Integrated Network combining the satellite and the terrestrial network. The application of the ATM network being the dominant infrastrure of terrestrial network to the satellite network is being studied variously. Considering these concepts, this paper analyzes due to ATM transport via satellite, evaluates the degradation of QoS and proposes reliable method of ATM cell transport via satellite. Because ATM is investigated with the optical fiber which is almost error free characteristics, the practical application of ATM transport via satellite essentially need the channel coding(FEC:Forward Error Correction) to enhance BER performance. But using the FEC coding, satellite link has burst error characteristics which evoke severe performance degradation fo ATM QoS. Therefore in satellite link, we analyze burst error characteristics using experimental results of computer simulation. Then to compensate these characteristics, based on this analysis and HEC dual mode algorithm we propose various interleaver structures(Block interleaver, Intra interlever, and Inter-Intra interleaver) to improve cell transmission QoS. We execute performance evaluations of iterleaver structures by computer simulation.

  • This study deals with the accelerated life test of high power phosphor converted white Light Emitting Diodes (High power LEDs). Samples were aged at $110^{\circ}C$/85% RH and $130^{\circ}C$/85% RH up to 900 hours under non-biased condition. The stress induced a luminous flux decay on LEDs in all the conditions. Aged devices exhibited modification of package silicon color from white to yellowish brown. The instability of the package contributes to the overall degradation of optical lens and structural degradations such as generating bubbles. The degradation mechanisms of lumen decay and reduction of spectrum intensity were ascribed to hygro-mechanical stress which results in package instabilities.
