  • A new concept of 22.9kV class revenue metering system based on the optical sensing technique was designed and implemented. This paper reports on the performance of a 22.9kV class three phase optical current/voltage metering scheme and three tariff metering system. This optoelectronic system was designed and developed to advance the state of the art in revenue metering. This paper deals with the characteristics of designed optical CPT (Current and Potential Transformer) and optoelectronic demand meter. The extensive field evaluation of the developed system with the existing oil filled transformer and solid state metering pair is undertaking. Upto now the operation of the optical revenue metering system under the field condition compares favorably with the existing system.

  • In this paper, we took the basic experiment in order to explore the optical CT(optical current transformer) for measuring high current in a superhigh voltage condition. It is based on the faraday effect that changes the polarization characteristic of optical signals by the magnetic field. We used 1310[nm] laser diode for a light source and comprised a sensing part with the optional fiber of 5[m], 10[m], 20[m] length each. The range of current was from 400[A] to 1300[A]. We observed the characteristic of output that changes according to the length of the optical fiber composing the sensing part. The optical fiber of 5[m] length used for the sensing part had -11.1% of the maximum ratio of error and 10[m] and 20[m] length had -3.5% and 1.7% each. This means that the power and linearity of output increase in proportion to the length of optical fiber and applied current in the same experimental condition.

  • This research is contents about output characteristic of optic current sensor that use faraday effect. optic current sensor used in an experiment is consisted of three parts.(1) Source of light used laser diode of 1310[nm].(2) Sensor section manufactured circularly according to gas insulated switchgear. And $9/125[{\mu}m]$ standard single mode optical fiber for communication was installed winding 20 [turn] on sensor section core surroundings of diameter 31 [cm].(3) Electrical signal of PD(Photo detector) is collected using NI company's 16bit DAQ board via terminal block. Collected data analyzed by different three signal processing methods. NI company's $Labview^{TM}$ was used to signal processing software. As a result, In signal processing of optic current sensor, we could know that noise greatly more influences the error generation than fluctuation of light intensity. also, 1 class CT(current transformer) manufacture that have error rate less than 1[%] was available by removing these

  • The optical current transformer using Faraday effect is the sensor to measure current that flows in any conductor. This sensor doesn't undergo the magnetic saturation and effect of adjacent conductors. But this senor using bulk-glass sensing clement has crucial drawback. It is impossible that the sensor is mounted to conductor without breaking the closed-loop of light or conductor. So we developed the clamp-type optical current transformer and made an experiment.

  • In this paper, some parameters are studied for the performance improvement of a bulk optical current sensor. The performance of optical current sensor is influenced by current measuring range, Verdet constant change due to temperature change, temperature variation of wave plate, signal to noise ratio of optical transmitter/receiver, optical bias mismatch. Two types of optical current sensors are implemented and tested in the current range from 10 ampere to 200 ampere.

  • The measurement of electric current using optical techniques provides a number of important practical advantages including effective isolation from high line potentials and freedom from the saturation effects observed in conventional current transformers. In this work the optical current sensor which uses thin YIG(Yittrium Ion Garnet) film as a Faraday element has been developed. We have characterized this optical current sensor and implemented it to the OOCR(Opto-electronic OverCurrent Realy) Performance of the OOCR shows the possibility of replacing the present overcurrent relays with OOCR.

  • We propose portable equipment that monitors current and voltage of high-potential power transmission lines. In the equipment, a current and voltage sensor are attached to an insulator that supports a power transmission line: A clamped to the power line and the detected current signal is transmitted to the ground station by a wireless optical link using transmission line is detected by a high resistance element, zinc oxide (ZnO). That acts as a potential divider between the power line and ground. We make an experimental device for 66kV power line and demonstrate that it can monitor currents proposed equipment is small-sized, light, and inexpensive in comparison with the conventional CT (current transformer) and PT (potential transformer) since it does not require high potential insulators and magnetic cores, further, the equipment is easily installed owing to its small size and its simple structure.

  • In this study, a Web server was constructed using LabVIEW's DataSocket, which makes possible acquisition, analysis, and saving in real time. The output value of the optical current sensor at the web server PC was measured and the output value was displayed using the Web browser of the client PC. DataSocket by LabVIEW makes the construction of a Web server easier than other languages and is compatible with other application programs. An optical current sensor was composed using a 1310 [nm] laser diode, and 9/125 [${\mu}m$] standard single mode optical fiber and was created to be a close type sensor. Data measurement using Web servers has the advantage of monitoring electric power systems at a great distance and can fuse IT technology and electric power systems. Also, this measurement uses inexpensive mounting and programming when compared to existing measurement equipment allowing the construction of a measurement system in any situation or surrounding.
