차세대전동차 시험선로 통신망 구축 (Implementing a network infrastructure in an advanced EMU test line)

  • In this paper, we introduce the network infrastructure in an advanced emu test line in Deabul. New technology has been applied to advanced EMU(DMU, integrated broadcasting system, black box and etc). In order to efficient and safely test of new developed train, failure, operation, status of test line and weather information should be monitored in real time. We has implemented a wireless and optical network infrastructure for reliability and scalability. The wireless communication capability between a car and ground is 20Mbps and back-hole network has 50Mbps of the communication performance. The network between test tracks and control office was established in the optical network. That can improve communication reliability.

Femtosecond Laser Application to Optical Memory and Microfluidics

  • We present a novel method for three-dimensional optical memory and microchannel embedded in fused silica glass. Three-dimensional dot patterning with a femtosecond laser pulse and observation with optical microscope are performed. Dot patterns are created by use of a 0.42 N.A. objective to focus 100 fs laser pulses inside the material. We demonstrate data storage with $2{\mu}m$ dot pitch and $7{\mu}m$layer spacing $(36 Gbit/cm^3)$. A three-dimensional microchannel acting as microfluidic and microoptical components is directly fabricated inside a silica glass. The optical micrographs of the microchannel are obtained by a digital camera of a microscope.

  • In these days, wavelength division multiplexing(WDM) all-optical network are being deployed to support various multimedia communication services. In this paper, various WDM all-optical network are discussed, and a design of an all-optical backbone network has been proposed by using multiple self-healing ring technology. The proposed multiple self-healing ring network improves network expandability and efficiency of bandwidth, while it retains simplicity and ease of network control, which are from the nature self-healing ring. Using PDI traffic modeling technique, a well-balanced all-optical backbone network using multiple self-healing ring is designed for the 2010s in Korea.

  • 최근 수년간 전기적 상호 연결 (electrical interconnect, EI) 기반 네트워크-온-칩 (Network-on-Chip, NoC) 에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있는 가운데, 궁극적으로 금속 배선은 대역폭, 응답 시간(latency), 전력 소모 등에서 물리적 한계에 직면할 것으로 예상된다. 실리콘 포토닉스(silicon photonics) 기술 발전으로 광학적 상호 연결(optical interconnect, OI)을 결합한 하이브리드 광학 네트워크-온-칩(Hybrid Optical NoC, HONoC)이 이러한 문제를 극복하기 위한 유망한 해결책으로 부각되고 있다. 한편 시스템-온-칩(System-on-Chip, SoC)은 높은 에너지 효율을 위하여 이기종 멀티 코어(Heterogeneous multi-core)로 구성되고 있어서 정형화된 토폴로지 기반 NoC 아키텍처의 확장이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 타깃 애플리케이션 트래픽 특성을 고려한 에너지 및 응답 시간 최적화 하이브리드 광학 네트워크-온-칩의 토폴로지 설계 기법을 제안한다. 유전자 알고리즘을 이용하여 구현하였고, 실험 결과 평균 전력손실은 13.84%, 평균 응답 시간은 28.14% 각각 감소하였다.

Multipath Routing and Spectrum Allocation for Network Coding Enabled Elastic Optical Networks

  • The benefits of network coding in all-optical multicast networks have been widely demonstrated. In this paper, we mainly discuss the multicast service efficiently provisioning problem in the network coding enabled elastic optical networks (EONs). Although most research on routing and spectrum allocation (RSA) has been widely studied in the elastic optical networks (EONs), rare research studies RSA for multicast in the network coding enabled EON, especially considering the time delay constraint. We propose an efficient heuristic algorithm, called Network Coding based Multicast Capable-Multipath Routing and Spectrum Allocation (NCMC-MRSA) to solve the multipath RSA for multicast services in the network coding enabled EON. The well-known layered graph approach is utilized for NCMC-MRSA, and two request ordering strategies are utilized for multiple multicast requests. From the simulation results, we observe that the proposed algorithm NCMC-MRSA performs more efficient spectrum utilization compared with the benchmark algorithms. NCMC-MRSA utilizing the spectrum request balancing (SRB) ordering strategy shows the most efficient spectrum utilization performance among other algorithms in most test networks. Note that we also observe that the efficiency of NCMC-MRSA shows more obvious than the benchmark algorithm in large networks. We also conduct the performance comparisons of two request ordering strategies for NCMC-MRSA. Besides, we also evaluate the impact of the number of the linkdisjoint parallel w paths on the spectrum utilization performance of the proposed algorithm NCMC-MRSA. It is interesting to find that the change of the parameter w in a certain range has a significant impact on the performance of NCMC-MRSA. As the parameter w increases to a certain value, the performances of NCMC-MRSA cannot be affected by the change of w any more.

Fabrication of 2.5 Gbps Burst-mode Receiver and its Full Compliance to GPON

  • In the current GPON market and standard, the line bit rate requirement is changing from 1.25 Gbps to 2.5 Gbps. We fabricate a 2.5 Gbps burst-mode receiver with commercially available blocks and optimize it with an APD bias control. A burst-mode measurement setup is made for the full compliance test with the GPON standard. The device meets the partially defined 2.5 Gbps specs in the current ITU G.984.2 standard, also, supports 1.25 Gbps specs for the coexistence issue in an access network. The full-compliant measurement values can be used as a guideline for fixing "for further study" specs in the current GPON standard at 2.5 Gbps.

Femtosecond Micromachining Applications for Optical Devices

  • This paper investigates applications of femtosecond lasers for the micromachining of transparent materials and fabrication of optical devices. We show commercial micromachining examples of transparent materials which have been fabricated for various applications. Near infrared femtosecond laser processing is an attractive method to fabricate three-dimensional optical waveguides into various transparent materials. Focused femtosecond laser pulses induce a permanent refractive-index change only near the focal point. We also demonstrate a Y coupler with the splitting ratio of 1:1 written by femtosecond laser pulses into a fused silica glass. The minimum propagation loss of 0.8 ㏈/㎝ awl the refractive-index change of 0.006-0.01 at the wavelength of 1550 ㎚ were achieved by optimization of the laser fluence.

합성곱 신경망을 적용한 Optical Camera Communication 시스템 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis of Optical Camera Communication with Applied Convolutional Neural Network)

  • 차세대 무선 통신기술로 알려져 있는 Optical Camera Communication(OCC)은 많은 연구가 진행 되고 있다. 이러한 OCC 기술은 통신 환경에 의해 성능이 좌우되며 이를 개선하기 위해 다양한 전략이 연구되고 있다. 그중 가장 두각을 나타내고 있는 방법은 딥러닝 기술을 사용하여 OCC의 수신기에 CNN을 적용하는 방법이다. 하지만 대부분의 연구에서는 CNN을 단순히 송신기를 검출하는데 사용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 CNN을 송신기 검출 뿐만 아니라 Rx 복조 시스템에 적용하여 실험한다. 그리고 OCC 시스템의 데이터 이미지는 다른 이미지 데이터셋과는 다르게 비교적 분류가 간단하기 때문에 대부분의 CNN 모델에서 높은 정확도의 결과가 나타날 것이라는 가설을 세웠다. 가설을 증명하기 위해 OCC 시스템을 설계 및 구현하여 데이터를 수집하였고 12가지의 다양한 CNN 모델에 적용하여 실험했다. 실험 결과 파라미터수가 많은 고성능의 CNN 모델 뿐만 아니라 경량화 CNN 모델에서도 99% 이상의 정확도를 달성하였고 이를 통해 스마트폰과 같은 저성능 계산 장치에 OCC 시스템 적용이 가능함을 확인했다.

  • 양극성수신기와 무선통신에서 널리 사용되고 있는 PN(pseudo random noise) 부호를 수정하여 적용시킨 광 CDMA 방식을 사용한 광센서 네트워크를 제안한다. 광 센서 네트워크에서 특성을 수치적으로 분석하였다. 센서사이와 광 CDMA의 디코더에 광섬유형지연기를 사용하여 광 CDMA의 인코더와 디코더간 동기를 맞추고, 광지연기의 지연을 PN 부호의 칩폭보다 크게 하면 센서간 간섭잡음을 완전히 제거할 수 있다. 광 신호간 비트 잡음이 잡음전력을 지배하기 때문에 광센서 네트워크에 접속할 수 있는 광 센서의 수를 증가시키기 위하여 광신호간 비트 잡음을 억압하여야 한다.

  • Intelligent distribution equipment is inevitable to realize self-healing which is one of smart grid functions in distribution network. Therefore, most of distribution equipment have been developed with self diagnostic sensors. However, it is not effective to construct on-line monitoring system for underground distribution cable because of high cost and low sensitivity. Recently, optical fiber composite cable is being considered for communication and power delivery in order to cope with increasing communication in distribution network. This paper presents the design and performance assessment results of underground cable on-line monitoring system using DTS(Distributed Temperature Sensing) and optical fiber composite underground cable.
