  • In this article, we define Picard's three-step iteration process for the approximation of fixed points of Zamfirescu operators in an arbitrary Banach space. We prove a convergence result for Zamfirescu operator using the proposed iteration process. Further, we prove that Picard's three-step iteration process is almost T-stable and converges faster than all the known and leading iteration processes. To support our results, we furnish an illustrative numerical example. Finally, we apply the proposed iteration process to approximate the solution of a mixed Volterra-Fredholm functional nonlinear integral equation.

  • In this paper, we investigate the behavior and sensitivity analysis of a solution set for a parametric generalized multi-valued nonlinear quasi-variational inclusion problem in a real Hilbert space. For this study, we utilize the technique of resolvent operator and the property of a fixed-point set of a multi-valued contractive mapping. We also examine Lipschitz continuity of the solution set with respect to the parameter under some appropriate conditions.

  • Let 𝓗(𝔻) be the space of analytic functions on the unit disc 𝔻. Let 𝜓 = (𝜓j)nj=0 and 𝚽 = (𝚽j)nj=0 be such that 𝜓j, 𝚽j ∈ 𝓗(𝔻). The linear differential operator is defined by T𝜓(f) = ∑nj=0 𝜓jf(j), f ∈ 𝓗(𝔻). We characterize the boundedness and compactness of the difference operator (T𝜓 - T𝚽)(f) = ∑nj=0 (𝜓j - 𝚽j) f(j) between weighted-type spaces of analytic functions. As applications, we obtained boundedness and compactness of the difference of multiplication operators between weighted-type and Bloch-type spaces. Also, we give examples of unbounded (non compact) differential operators such that their difference is bounded (compact).

  • When designing workplaces, controls should be placed within the reach of operator's arm or foot to guarantee effective performance. The aviation industry is perhaps the chief user of anthropometric data for its need to weight minimization and space optimization. In designing a workplace which must cater to a wide range of operator size, it might be sufficient to plan only for the 'average person'. Static arm reach measurements which are taken in conventional, standardized positions provide the necessary information, but they cannot be directly applied to dynamic situations. In this research, an approximate algorithm to generate the workspace of the human body including foot reach and trunk motion is proposed and tested. The robot kinematics was employed to represent the human body as a multi-link system.

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate the operator performance relating to hand switches with two or three buttons in the main control rooms of nuclear power plants. Based on the comparative analysis of the nuclear power plants, two different subjective workload-rating scales were used to evaluate the performance of 48 operators: the Overall Workload(OW) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration Task Load Index (NASA TLX). The survey questions consisting of the eight-items were asked to evaluate the operating experiences for the two different switch types. The OW scales ratings were applied to measure the workload of the switch-related tasks. The ratings revealed that signal detection tasks caused less workload in the three-buttoned-switch operators than the other switch group. However, in the switch operation tasks, the switch types did not show statistically significant effects on workload level. The NASA TLX scale ratings were performed based on detailed task scenarios that assumed the accident of small break loss of coolant, what we call, the small LOCH. The NASA TLX was administered to three different task groups: the reactor, the turbine, and the electric operator groups. Based on the NASA TLX, the two-buttoned switch groups showed higher workload than those with the three-buttoned switches. However, a statistically significant difference was found only in the reactor operator groups. When the current switch type was assumed to be changed for the other type, all of the three-buttoned switch groups were predicted to have higher workload than the other switch groups, respectively. The implications of these findings were discussed.

  • In this paper, we apply the evolutionary algorithm to the combinatorial optimization problem. Evolutionary algorithm useful for the optimization of the large space problem. This paper propose a method for the reuse of wastes of light water in atomic reactor system. These wastes contain several reusable elements, and they should be carefully selected and blended to satisfy requirements as an input material to the heavy water atomic reactor system. This problem belongs to an NP-hard like the 0/1 knapsack problem. Two evolutionary strategies are used as approximation algorithms in the highly constrained combinatorial optimization problem. One is the traditional strategy, using random operator with evaluation function, and the other is heuristic based search that uses the vector operator reducing between goal and current status. We also show the method which perform the feasible test and solution evaluation by using the vectored knowledge in problem domain. Finally, We compare the simulation results of using random operator and vector operator for such combinatorial optimization problems.

  • Purpose: By identifying the contents of the "Empty Home Utilization & Community Revitalization Model Project" which is a pilot project of empty homes back into use in Kyoto City and analyzing the characteristics of the case housing, the purpose of this study is to find out implications and suggest improvements for the domestic empty home utilization project. Methods: The scope of the survey covers seven project sites in the period from 2014 to 2016. The research method is to derive the physical and operational characteristics of the project, through the literature reviews related to bringing empty homes back into use in Kyoto City and the field survey including the space measurement and the operator interview. Results: First, in order to succeed in bringing empty homes back into use for community revitalization, the selection process of the project and the role of the public in and after supporting the project are important. Second, the important features that are required as a physical characteristic of the project are an advantage in location and an interactive space that is available at all time like a community cafe at the entrance. Third, as an operational characteristic of the empty home utilization project, it is advantageous for the local residents to participate as a business actor or an operator, and it is the continuous use of residents and outsiders by implementing an operating program that is suitable for the characteristics of the local community. Implications: The physical and operational activation factors to bring empty homes back into use need to be included as the project screening standards. And it is necessary for the public to develop the Intermediate Support Organization and to participate in linking with residents in order to carry out the empty homes utilization project effectively.

  • On the setting of the half-space of the Euclidean n-space, we consider harmonic Bergman spaces and we also study properties of the reproducing kernel. Using covering lemma, we find some equivalent quantities. We prove that if lim$ lim\limits_{i\rightarrow\infty}\frac{\mu(K_r(zi))}{V(K_r(Z_i))}$ then the inclusion function $I : b^p\rightarrow L^p(H_n, d\mu)$ is a compact operator. Moreover, we show that if f is a nonnegative continuous function in $L^\infty and lim\limits_{Z\rightarrow\infty}f(z) = 0, then T_f$ is compact if and only if f $\in$ $C_{o}$ (H$_{n}$ ).

  • In general, the Least Square Error method is used for signal classification to measure distance in the $l^2$ metric or the $L^2$ metric space. A defect of the Least Square Error method is that it does not classify properly some waveforms, which is due to the property of the Least Square Error method: the global analysis. This paper proposes a new linear operator, the Integra-Normalizer, that removes the problem. The Integra-Normalizer possesses excellent property that measures the degree of relative similarity between signals by expanding the functional space with removing the restriction on the functional space inherited by the Least Square Error method. The Integra-Normalizer shows superiority to the Least Square Error method in measuring the relative similarity among one dimensional waveforms.
