This study models the operational competence of mobile service providers as an endogenous factor that presumably impacts the mobile commerce (m-commerce) adoption of consumers and examines the relationship between the perceptions of consumers toward the operational performance of m-commerce providers and their m-commerce adoption likelihood. Quantitative research is applied with data collected from wireless Internet consumers in South Korea. The data is analyzed using factor analysis and structural equation modeling methods. The findings suggest that the operational competence of m-commerce providers is a significant antecedent to the m-commerce use and adoption of consumers in Korea. In this environment, the operational competence of mobile service providers in managing facilities, equipment, systems and technology plays a central role in enhancing m-commerce use and adoption. Based on the results, important managerial implications are discussed.

In this paper a new concept, named the Extended Operational Space Formulation, has been proposed for the effective analysis and real-time control of the robot manipulators with kinematic redundancy. The extended operational space consists of operational space and optimal null space. The operational space is used to describe robot end-effector motion; whereas the optimal null space, defined as the target space of the self motion manifold, is used to express the self motion for the secondary tasks. Based upon the proposed formulation, the kinematics, statics, and dynamics of redundant robots have been analyzed, and an efficient control algorithm has been proposed. Using this algorithm, one can optimize a performance measure while tracking a desired end-effector trajectory with a better computational efficiency than the conventional methods. The effective ness of the proposed method has been demonstrated with simulations.

This paper analyzes the singularity of an anthropomorphic robot associated with joint and operational stiffness generation from muscle stiffness. The singularity analysis is made simply based on the signs of the actual and the desired coupling joint stiffness. First, the relationships of the muscle stiffness and the actual joint stiffness, and the operational stiffness and the desired joint stiffness are examined. Second, according to the sign restriction on the actual coupling joint stiffness, the operational space is divided into the semi-singular(SS), the regular(R), and the semi-regular(SR) regions. Third, from the sign comparison of tile actual and the desired coupling joint stiffness, the sufficient condition for the semi-singularity in operational stiffness generation is derived. The limitation on the allowable operational stiffness when a task point belongs to SS, R, and SR regions is also discussed. Simulation results are given.
Military robots are expected to play an important role in the future battlefield, and will be actively engaged in dangerous, repetitive and difficult tasks. During the robots perform the tasks a human operator controls the robots in a supervisory way. The operator recognizes battlefield situations from remote robots through an interface of the operator control center, and controls them. In the meantime, operator workload, controller interface, robot automation level, and task complexity affect robot operability. In order to assess the robot operability, we have developed ROSim (Robot Operational Simulator) incorporating these operational factors. In this paper, we introduce the results of applying ROSim experimentally to the assessment of reconnaissance robot operability in a battle field. This experimental assessment shows three resulting measurements: operational control workload, operational control capability, mission success rate, and discuss its applicability to the defense robot research and development. It is expected that ROSim can contribute to the design of an operator control center and the design analysis of a human-robot team in the defense robot research and development.

The objectives of this research is searching for the improvement scheme of spacial use of the Nature Environmental Conservation and its Utilization Facility through the analysis of those existing facilities from the structural and operational view points. In this study, firstly, analysis is commencing with the distinction of lawful and operational concepts of Nature Environmental Conservation and its Utilization Facility. In law, the concept is defined as an individual facility, while practical use of the concept has been understood as a collective space itself. Secondly, frequency tables in regard to the duration of the construction, types of location and objectives, and facility numbers are prepared on the basis of 53 cases of completed and under construction facilities. Conclusively, through the comparisons of facilities of Korea, United Kingdom and Germany, the future considerations on the improvement of the facilities in light of structural and operational aspects has been recommended. In structural view, ecological conservation aspect should be considered from the planning stage of the facility. And at the operational stage, various considerations should be given to the employment of facility experts and development of educational programs respectively.
This paper describes the structural analysis results of KARI General Small-scaled Rotor Test System (GSRTS) operated in KARI to verify operational safety. This GSRTS was developed to conduct a froude and mach small-scaled rotor test. This analysis was performed to investigate the structural Factor of Safety for the various small-scale rotor system like articulated or hingeless rotor and to check the operational capability using given operational design load. Specially, drive system has several bearings, mechanical gears, shaft, etc. and these parts must be required to achieve an operational safety. The calculation was done by using geometric data and material properties by analytical method. This rotor test system should be operated within these calculated Factor of Safety. Furthermore, the operational limitation should be defined as applied to small-scale rotor system of KUH in future.
This study aims to examine the intermediary roles of employee performance between high performance work system (HPWS) and its operational performance on the resource based view. Taking into account the unit of analysis, this study used a hierarchical linear modeling analysis in order to test rigorously the association between HPWS at the organisational level and employee performance at the individual level. For this empirical test, Human Capital Corporate Panel (HCCP) data including 316 firms and 7,872 respondents (including 923 team leaders) were used. To meet the unit of analysis and test the mediation effect, data at the individual and team level were aggregated into the organisational level. The empirical results show that HPWS have a positive impact on operational performance as well as employee performance such as job satisfaction, organisational commitment and organisational trust. Regarding the mediation effect, job satisfaction and organisational trust mediate between HPWS and operational performance. Theoretical implications are discussed in conclusion.

In high-density high-rise cities such as Hong Kong, buildings account for nearly 90% of energy consumption and 61% of carbon emissions. Therefore, it is important to study the design of buildings, especially high-rise buildings, to achieve lower carbon emissions in the city. The carbon emissions of a building consist of embodied carbon from the production of construction materials and operational carbon from energy consumption during daily operation (e.g., air-conditioning and lighting). An integrated analysis of both types of carbon emissions can strengthen the design of low carbon buildings, but most of the previous studies concentrated mainly on either embodied or operational carbon. Therefore, the primary objective of this study is to develop a holistic methodology framework considering both embodied and operational carbon, in order to enhance the sustainable design of low carbon high-rise buildings. The framework will be based on the building information modeling (BIM) technology because BIM can be integrated with simulation systems and digital models of different disciplines, thereby enabling a holistic design and assessment of low carbon buildings. Structural analysis program is first coupled with BIM to validate the structural performance of a building design. The amounts of construction materials and embodied carbon are then quantified by a BIM-based program using the Dynamo programming interface. Operational carbon is quantified by energy simulation software based on the green building extensible Markup Language (gbXML) file from BIM. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) will be applied to analyze the ambient wind effect on indoor temperature and operational carbon. The BIM-based framework serves as a decision support tool to compare and explore more environmentally-sustainable design options to help reduce the carbon emissions in buildings.
The 610 m high Canton Tower (formerly named Guangzhou New Television Tower) is currently considered as a benchmark problem for structural health monitoring (SHM) of high-rise slender structures. In the benchmark study task I, a set of 24-hour ambient vibration measurement data has been available for the output-only system identification study. In this paper, the vector autoregressive models (ARV) method is adopted in the operational modal analysis (OMA) for this TV tower. The identified natural frequencies, damping ratios and mode shapes are presented and compared with the available results from some other research groups which used different methods, e.g., the data-driven stochastic subspace identification (SSI-DATA) method, the enhanced frequency domain decomposition (EFDD) algorithm, and an improved modal identification method based on NExT-ERA technique. Furthermore, the environmental effects on the estimated modal parameters are also discussed.

The Subspace based System Identification Techniques (SSIT) have been very popular within the research circles in the last decade due to their proven superiority over the other existing system identification techniques. For operational (output only) modal analysis, the stochastic SSIT and for operational modal analysis in the presence of exogenous inputs, the combined deterministic stochastic SSIT have been used in the literature. This study compares the application of the two alternative techniques on a typical school building in Istanbul using 100 Monte Carlo simulations. The study clearly shows that the combined deterministic stochastic SSIT performs superior to the stochastic SSIT when the techniques are applied on noisy data from low to mid rise stiff structures.
