Design of AES Cryptographic Processor with Modular Round Key Generator (모듈화된 라운드 키 생성회로를 갖는 AES 암호 프로세서의 설계)

  • In this paper a design of high performance cryptographic processor which implements AES Rijndael algorithm is described. To eliminate performance degradation due to round-key computation delay of conventional processor, the on-the-fly precomputation of round key based on modified round structure is adopted. And on-the-fly round key generator which supports 128, 192, and 256-bit key has modular structure. The designed processor has iterative structure which uses 1 clock cycle per round and supports three operation modes, such as ECB, CBC, and CTR mode which is a candidate for new AES modes of operation. The cryptographic processor designed in Verilog-HDL and synthesized using 0.251$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS cell library consists of about 51,000 gates. Simulation results show that the critical path delay is about 7.5ns and it can operate up to 125Mhz clock frequency at 2.5V supply. Its peak performance is about 1.45Gbps encryption or decryption rate under 128-bit key ECB mode.

Vertiport Location Problem to Maximize Utilization Rate for Air Taxi (에어 택시 이용률 최대화를 위한 수직이착륙장 위치 결정 문제)

  • This paper deals with the operation of air taxis, which is one of the latest innovative technologies aimed at solving the issue of traffic congestion in cities. A key challenge for the successful introduction of the technology and efficient operation is a vertiport location problem. This paper employs a discrete choice model to calculate choice probabilities of transportation modes for each route, taking into account factors such as cost and travel time associated with different modes. Based on this probability, a mathematical formulation to maximize the utilization rate for air taxi is proposed. However, the proposed model is NP-hard, effective and efficient solution methodology is required. Compared to previous studies that simply proposed the optimization models, this study presents a solution methodology using the cross-entropy algorithm and confirms the effectiveness and efficiency of the algorith through numerical experiments. In addition to the academic excellence of the algorithm, it suggests that decision-making that considers actual data and air taxi utilization plans can increase the practial usability.

Design and Implementation of Open-Loop Clock Recovery Circuit for 39.8 Gb/s and 42.8 Gb/s Dual-Mode Operation

  • This paper proposes an open-loop clock recovery circuit (CRC) using two high-Q dielectric resonator (DR) filters for 39.8 Gb/s and 42.8 Gb/s dual-mode operation. The DR filters are fabricated to obtain high Q-values of approximately 950 at the 40 GHz band and to suppress spurious resonant modes up to 45 GHz. The CRC is implemented in a compact module by integrating the DR filters with other circuits in the CRC. The peak-to-peak and RMS jitter values of the clock signals recovered from 39.8 Gb/s and 42.8 Gb/s pseudo-random binary sequence (PRBS) data with a word length of $2^{31}-1$ are less than 2.0 ps and 0.3 ps, respectively. The peak-to-peak amplitudes of the recovered clocks are quite stable and within the range of 2.5 V to 2.7 V, even when the input data signals vary from 150 mV to 500 mV. Error-free operation of the 40 Gb/s-class optical receiver with the dual-mode CRC is confirmed at both 39.8 Gb/s and 42.8 Gb/s data rates.

Complex ESP Systems Proposal based on Pump Syringe and Electronically injector Modules for Medical Application

  • The paper focuses on conception and development of complex systems composed mainly by a pump syringe subsystem and an electronically injector that facilitates patients saving data operation for medical staff use. We successfully developed conventional approaches for medical system staff requirements, such as system boundary conditions. Decisions at a given level are studied. We propose a complex system architecture, based mainly on patients collected data and ordered stepper injection parameters. System is successfully simulated and prototyped. Design and implement tests are accomplished, the proposed system ensures both the electric syringe pump and the electric injector operation. In addition, this new system introduces several additional options as patient database development and automation injection operation. Development and software operating tests to create a visualization control interface are validated. The solution performs syringe function and electronic injector. User can manage a syringe in two C modes of technology. We propose a program composed of two linked parts. If an error such radiologist bad target selection is made, an image with lower intrinsic quality emerges. Developed Shoot syringe different electronic cards are simulated and prototyped, in addition, maps are driven, prototype. All tests results are accomplished.

Design on the efficient BILBO for BIST allocation of ASIC (ASIC의 BIST 할당을 위한 효과적인 BILBO 설계)

  • In this paper, an efficient BILBO(named EBILBO) is proposed for batch testing application when a BIST (built-in self test) circuit is implemented on ASIC. In a large and complex circuit, the proposed algorithm of batch testing has one pin-count that can easily control 4 test modes in the normal speed of circuit operation. For the implementation of the BIST cifcuit, the test patern needed is generated by PRTPG(pseudo-random test pattern generator) and the ouput is observed by proposed algorithm is easily modified, such as the modelling of test pattern genration, signature EBILBO area and performance of the implemented BIST are evaluated using ISCAS89 benchmark circuits. As a resutl, in a circuit above 600 gates, it is confirmed that test patterns are genrated flexibly about 500K as EBILBO area is 59%, and the range of fault coverage is from 88.3% to 100%. And the optimized operation frequency of EBILBO designed and the area are 50MHz and 150K respectively. On the BIST circit of the proposed batch testing, the test mode of EBILBO is able to execute as realtime that has te number of s$\^$+/n$\^$+/(2s/2p-1) clocks simultaneously with the normal mode of circuit operation. Also the proposed algorithm is made of the library with VHDL coding thus, it will be widely applied to DFT (design for testability) that satisfies the design and test field.

A Study on Variable Speed Generation System with Energy Saving Function

  • This paper presents development of variable speed generation (VSG) system with energy saving function. The rubber tyred gantry crane (RTGC) requires the power from diesel-engine. Significant fuel savings by reducing the engine speed can be achieved, because all of operation modes except hoisting are required lower power than rated value of engine. When low speed operation output voltage of generator is decrease until acceptable range of motor driver inverters and auxiliary load supplier. According to power demand engine speed is varying from 20 to 60Hz, and voltage is varying between 210Vac and 480Vac. When idle mode or low power operation dc/dc converter operates by constant output voltage control and inverters dc site voltage is compensated by it. This paper proposed 3-phase interleaved boost converter which has the same structure as the commercially available 3-phase inverter and current sharing capability. 400kW interleaved converter is designed and a performance of converter is evaluated through several experiments with a RTGC system. Energy saving VSG system can cut down fuel consumption by 36% and 21.3% at idle and unidirectional load operations.

  • This paper presents a novel soft-switching PWM utility frequency AC to high frequency AC power conversion circuit incorporating boost H-bridge inverter topology, which is more suitable and acceptable for cost effective consumer induction heating applications. The operating principle and the operation modes are presented using the switch mode equivalent circuits and the operating voltage and current waveforms. The performances of this high-frequency inverter using the latest IGBTs are illustrated, which includes high frequency power regulation and actual efficiency characteristics based on zero voltage soft-switching(ZVS) operation ranges, and the power dissipation as compared with those of the conventional type high frequency inverter. In addition, a dual mode control scheme of this high frequency inverter based on asymmetrical pulse width modulation(PWM) and pulse density modulation(PDM) control scheme is discussed in this paper in order to extend the soft switching operation ranges and to improve the power conversion efficiency at the low power settings. The power converter practical effectiveness is substantially proved based on experimental results from practical design example.

A Study on the Optimization of Fleet Operation for Industrial Carriers (인더스트리얼 캐리어를 위한 선대운영의 최적화에 관한 연구)

  • There are three basic modes of operation of ships: liner, tramp and industrial operations. Industrial operations, where the owner of the cargo, i.e. the industrial carrier controls the ships, abound in the shipment of bulk commodities, such as oil, chemicals and ores. Industrial carriers strive to minimize the shipping cost of their cargoes. This paper is concerned with the operational optimization problem of a fleet owned by major international oil company. The major oil company is a holding corporation for a group of oil producing, transporting, refining, and marketing companies located in various countries throughout the world. The operational optimization problem of the fleet is divided into two-phases. The front end corresponds to the optimization of transporting crude oil, product mix, and the distribution of product oil to meet market demand. The back end tackles the operational optimization problem of the fleet to meet the transportation demand derived from the front end. A case study is carried out with the H major oil company problem composed by reflecting the practices of an international major oil company. The results are summarized and examined in the point of optimization for the total operation of the H major oil company and the operational optimization problem of the fleet. The paper concludes with the remark that the results of the study might be useful and applicable in practices of these related decision problems.

  • The following thesis provides an explanation for the definition of the MIL-HDBK-2155 : Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS), which systemizes the collection and analysis of failure data and the feedback process of the results. It also presents a plan based on MIL-HDBK-2155 for the collection and analysis of operating specifications on weapon systems. The collection and analysis of failure data and the feedback process utilizing FRACAS contributes to identifying improvement requirements during equipment operation as well as finding and eliminating the root cause of the failures. The objective of applying FRACAS to weapon systems is to receive source data feedback for reliability enhancements and performance improvements during operation. This is done by recognizing weaknesses in the design or operation by identifying the type of failures that might occur, and by performing Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis(FMECA) and Failure Tree Analysis(FTA).

Results Analysis for On-orbit Operation of KOMPSAT-1 Propulsion System (다목적실용위성 1호 추진시스템 궤도운용 결과 분석)

  • Design configuration and performance requirements for KOMPSAT-1 propulsion system were described. Operational results of the propulsion system obtained through the satellite Launch and Early Operation Phase were scrutinized. Performance characteristics of the thrusters which are employed for spacecraft attitude control and the corresponding propellant depletion rate were analysed according to satellite operation modes. Additionally, propellant leakproof and thermal control capability were checked out from the view point of system verification. Propellant depletion rates calculated by PVT method in $\Delta$V maneuvering and each attitude control mode produce the very meaningful results for the prediction of total propellant consumption up to the end of satellite mission life.
