  • The electrocardiogram (ECG) signal is a good indicator for early diagnosis of heart abnormalities. The ECG signal has a different reference normal signal for each person. And it requires lots of data to diagnosis. In this paper, we propose an adaptive OpenCL-based FPGA-GPU hybrid-layer platform to efficiently accelerate ECG signal diagnosis. As a result of diagnosing 19870 number of ECG signals of MIT-BIH arrhythmia database on the platform, the FPGA accelerator takes 1.15s, that the execution time was reduced by 89.94% and the power consumption was reduced by 84.0% compared to the software execution. The GPU accelerator takes 1.87s, that the execution time was reduced by 83.56% and the power consumption was reduced by 62.3% compared to the software execution. Although the proposed FPGA-GPU hybrid platform has a slower diagnostic speed than the FPGA accelerator, it can operate a flexible algorithm according to the situation by using the GPU.

  • This study relates to the problems of organizational performance in the Christian hospitals. In this study, quality of working life (QOWL), which harmonizes individual as well as organizational goals, was used as an indicator of organizational performance from the open systems view. In order to identify the behavioral factors influencing QOWL in hospitals, self-administered questionnaires were distributed to 1,926 employees who were randomly selected from fifteen Christian hospitals from August 1 to August 30, 1986. The following results were obtained: 1) All correlation coefficients between QOWL and behavioral variables were statistically significant even though their magnitude varied according to hospital size. 2) Using factor analysis, 32 variables were parsimoniously grouped into four factors: individual conflicts, group behavior, organizational characteristics and situation, and job characteristics. The proportion of variance explained by these factors ranged from 33.5% to 38.6% according to hospital size. 3) The overall effects of the four factors in the multiple logistic models ranged from 0.85 to 3.12 according to hospital size. Among three hospital models, the model for small hospitals showed the best statistical fit. 4) The most influential factor was organizational characteristics and situation with an odds ratio ranging from 1.99 to 3.02. Again, the odds ratio was the highest for small hospitals. 5) For large hospitals, the two main factor effects were statistically significant: organizational characteristics and situation, and job characteristics. For medium hospitals, all main factor effects except job characteristics were statistically significant. For small hospitals, all main factor effects except group behavior were statistically significant. However, a factor interaction effect was shown only for large hospitals where it was statistically significant. 6) To examine whether the four factors influence financial performance, the four factor scores from the two financial performance groups were compared using Mann-Whitney test. The test results showed that the organizational characteristics and situation factor score was significantly different only for small hospitals.

  • Gamcheon Harbor was developed to cope with increased freight demand of Busan port and supplement function of the north port. Because container wharf is opened to 1997 as well as general wharf, present maximum 50,000DWT class containerships have been incoming and outgoing. However, In Gamcheon port, small size ships such as fishing boats, miscellaneous boats account for 50 percent of the traffic and a public marine products wholesale market that is building on the north wharf will open in 2008. Therefore, it needs to grasp future year traffic volume before establishing operation plan for port management. Also, analysis on crossing situation risk is required because the breakwater entrance in Gamcheon Harbor is narrow and the crossed passing of ship is ever-present at breakwater front. Thus the traffic volume in the future was presumed and quantitative analysis was achieved on crossing situation though simulations with the traffic volume.

  • Information behavior played a significant role in minimizing the risks of the COVID-19 pandemic. When faced with such a situation, an individual needs information for decision-making and in order to determine the best course of action relating to their health. This study aims to explore information behavior during each phase of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, which is known for its close-knit collective culture. A sensemaking approach is used, which emphasizes the process individuals go through to understand their situation and give meaning to the information they are getting from their environment. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with 10 participants to obtain a description of their information behaviors during the pandemic. Data analysis was carried out using open, axial, and selective coding. We propose a sensemaking-based information behavior strategy framework for mitigating risk and reducing ongoing health crises. Changes in information behavior strategies, including search, prevention, and restriction of information exposure, were random at the beginning of the pandemic, but became more regular in later phases. This was influenced by the "knowledge gap fulfillment" and "use of local knowledge" among the participants throughout the pandemic. In conclusion, the participants developed a sensemaking process including an understanding of the pandemic situation and the risks that they faced. They used a number of information behavior strategies to prevent transmission, and their perception of the risks changed across the course of the pandemic, up til the situation began to be considered back to normal again in Indonesia.

  • If a dangerous situation arises in a place where out of reach from the human, UAVs can be used to determine the size and location of the situation to reduce the further damage. With this in mind, this paper sets the minimum value of the roll, pitch, and yaw using beta flight to detect the UAV's smooth hovering, integration, and derivative (PID) values to ensure that the UAV stays horizontal, minimizing errors for safe hovering, and the camera uses Open CV to install the Raspberry Pi program and then HSV (color, saturation, Brightness) using the color palette, the filter is black and white except for the red color, which is the closest to the fire we want, so that the UAV detects the image in the air in real time. Finally, it was confirmed that hovering was possible at a height of 0.5 to 5m, and red color recognition was possible at a distance of 5cm and at a distance of 5m.

  • A lot of educators claim that the open education should be performed in elementary classroom, but it is true that they do not suggest the specific direction of practicing open education in case of mathematics subject. Although a project lesson is recommended, there is little case that suggests the direction of practice and the evaluation method of project lesson. Therefore this study searchs for the possibility of practicing open education in elementary mathematics classroom by reviewing the portfolio assessment and suggesting the specific case of applying the portfolio assessment to project lesson. A portfolio is a folder in which is recording solution process, student's self reflection, and teacher's comment, about topics and problems more than one. Students can see their own varying aspects and recognize their own merits and demerits, sincerities, and potentialities by portfolio assessment. Futheremore, teacher can both grasp the student's cognitive situation and give them the professional advice about the cognitive development. That is, they can perform the instruction underlining the learner's ability and personality, by identifying what Vygotsky calls 'the proximal zone of development' through portfolio assessment. Consequently, portfolio assessment is an alternative evaluation method for integrating process and product of learning, and can be used as an important tool for developing the learner's potential possibility of self-realization.

  • If the medical staff privileges, which mean the eligibility to practice at open hospitals, are excluded in the United States, antitrust claims based on the violation of the Sherman Act have been raised a lot. The proliferation of these lawsuits in the United States, which are characterized as antitrust lawsuits, can be understandable situation. The reason is because doctors who don't belong to specific hospitals are seriously damaged, if the medical staff privileges are excluded and doctors cannot use facilities of open hospitals. In order to decide to allow the privileges of certain doctors, hospitals have to rely on peer review to maintain high quality of medical services, and it is not easy to find alternative of peer review in the professional areas like healthcare. However, there are possibilities that members of the peer review can abuse power to unfairly exclude privileges of potential competitors. In this sense, it is asserted in the U.S. antitrust lawsuits that the restraint of medical staff privilege can be the illegal restraint of trade in violation of section 1 of Sherman Act and can be monopolization or an attempt to monopoly by hospitals in violation of section 2 of Sherman Act. As Korea adopted open hospital system quite recently, there is still no case related with the exclusion of medical staff privileges. However, medical staff privilege system of Korea is not different from that of the United States in principle. Thus, the U.S. jurisprudence on the exclusion of medical staff privileges can be referred in the interpretation of "practice that interferes with or restricts the activities or contents of the business" based on Article 19.1.9 of Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Law of Korea.

  • Among many geophysical prospecting methods, GPR(Ground Penetration Radar) and electrical resistivity method have been applied to a open waste dumping landfill for measuring of the site area and depth. The surveying was limited to a boarder of the site and inside area because of the field situation. The data of GPR were recorded by 50MHz antenna, and dipole array was used for electrical resistivity survey in the same survey line for the integrated interpretation. The result of GPR clearly indicated the horizontal boarder of site. However, the data of GPR did not have enough to measure the depth of site clearly. The electrical resistivity method may show the effective information by integrated interpreation. These results coincided with results of the boring test. Therefore, a combination of GPR and electrical resistivity is a good method for surveying of suspective open waste dumping landfill area and it's depth.

  • According to Heidegger, the world is disclosed in dependence on Dasein, whose existence is different for each of us. Then it is questioned how the common world can be established in spite of the individual existence of Dasein. After reviewing the preceding researches on this question, I would like to elucidate the individual and common world-disclosure based on Heidegger's lecture in 1928/29. Heidegger, in this lecture, has a vast discussion of the relationship between the common being (Mitsein) and truth. According to him, since truth is essentially communal so that it can not be privatized by individual Dasein, the space of truth encountered by a Dasein is already open to all other Dasein. The fact that the space of truth held by each of Dasein is open to all others implies a common open area that encompasses it. And this common open area is no different to the world. The world is already ontologically disclosed in common, and on the basis of this common world-disclosure, each Dasein discloses its own world according to its life history and situation.
