Effects of Psychrotrophic Bacteria, Serratia liquefaciens and Acinetobacter genomospecies 10 on Yogurt Quality

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of proteolytic (Serratia liquefaciens, match %: 99.39) or lipolytic (Acinetobacter genomospecies 10, match %: 99.90) psychrotrophic bacteria (bacterial counts, analysis of free fatty acids (FFA) and analysis of free amino acids) on the microbial and chemical properties (yogurt composition), and sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) of yogurt during storage. Yogurts were prepared with raw milk preinoculated with each psychrotrophic bacteria. The total solid, fat, and protein content were not affected by preinoculation, but the pH of yogurt preinoculated with psychrotrophic bacteria was higher than in control. There was a dramatic increase in short chain free fatty acids among FFA in yogurt with Acinetobacter genomospecies 10. For 14 d of cold storage condition, SCFFA was 25.3 mg/kg to 34.4 mg/kg (1.36 times increased), MCFFA was 20.4 mg/kg to 25.7 mg/kg (1.26 times increased), and LCFFA was 240.2 mg/kg to 322.8 mg/kg (1.34 times increased). Serratia liquefaciens (match %: 99.39) in yogurt caused a greater accumulation of free amino acids (FAA), especially bitter peptides such as leucine, valine, arginine, and tyrosine, but SDS-PAGE showed that the inoculation of Serratia liquefaciens did not affect the degree of casein degradation during storage. Taken together, the excessive peptides and FFA in yogurt generated from psychrotrophic bacteria could develop off-flavors that degrade the quality of commercial yogurt products.

Microarray and Quantitative PCR Analysis of Gene Expression Profiles in Response to Treatment with Tomato Leaf Extract in MCF-7 Breast Cancer Cells

  • We previously found cytotoxic effects of tomato leaf extract (TLE) on the MCF-7 breast cancer cell line. The aim of this study was to ascertain the molecular mechanisms associated with the usage of TLE as an anticancer agent by microarray analysis using mRNA from MCF-7 breast cancer cells after treatment with TLE for 1 hr and 48 hrs. Approximately 991 genes out of the 30,000 genes in the human genome were significantly (p<0.05) changed after the treatment. Within this gene set, 88 were significantly changed between the TLE treated cells and the untreated MCF-7 cells (control cells) with a cut-off fold change >2.00. In order to focus on genes that were involved in cancer cell growth, only twenty-nine genes were selected, either down-regulated or up-regulated after treatment with TLE. Microarray assay results were confirmed by analyzing 10 of the most up and down regulated genes related to cancer cells progression using real-time PCR. Treatment with TLE induced significant up-regulation in the expression of the CRYAB, PIM1, BTG1, CYR61, HIF1-${\alpha}$ and CEBP-${\beta}$ genes after 1 hr and 48 hrs, whereas the TXNIP and THBS1 genes were up-regulated after 1 hr of treatment but down-regulated after 48 hrs. In addition both the HMG1L1 and HIST2H3D genes were down-regulated after 1 hr and 48 hrs of treatment. These results demonstrate the potent activity of TLE as an anticancer agent.

  • 본 논문에서는 IEEE802.11p WAVE 통신 시스템의 컨트롤 채널 효율성 증대를 위해 제정된 IEEE1609.4 기반 시간 동기 멀티채널 환경에서의 통신 성능을 분석하고 이를 향상시키기 위한 패킷 충돌 회피 기법에 대해 다룬다. 기존 연구에서는 어플리케이션 레이어에서의 소프트웨어적 메시지 스케줄링을 통한 방법이나 랜덤 백오프의 Contention Window 값을 임의로 변경하여 문제를 해결하고자 하였다. 본 논문에서는 패킷 충돌 회피를 위한 Channel Guard Interval 조정을 위한 방법을 제안하고 실차 테스트를 통하여 그 성능을 평가하였다. 평가 결과 PDR(packet delivery ratio) 90% 이상의 성능을 확인할 수 있었다.

비아 절단 구조를 사용한 DRAM 패키지 기판 (DRAM Package Substrate Using Via Cutting Structure)

  • 본 논문에서는 비아 절단 구조를 제안하고 2층 구조의 DRAM 패키지 기판 설계에 적용하여 낮은 임피던스를 가지는 파워 분배망(Power Distribution Network)을 구현하였다. 제안한 신규 비아 구조는 비아의 일부가 절단된 형태이고 본딩 패드와 결합하여 넓은 배선 면적을 필요로 하지 않는 장점을 가진다. 또한 비아 절단 구조를 적용한 설계에서는 본딩 패드에서 VSSQ까지의 배선 경로를 효과적으로 단축시킴으로써 PDN 임피던스를 개선시킬 수 있다. DRAM 패키지 기판 상의 윈도우 영역 형성과 동시에 비아의 일부 영역이 제거되므로 비아 절단 구조 제작을 위한 추가적인 공정은 없다. 또한 비아 홀 내부를 솔더 레지스트로 채움으로써 버(Burr) 발생을 최소화하였으며, 이를 패키지 기판 단면 촬영을 통해 검증하였다. 비아 절단 구조의 적용 및 VDDQ/VSSQ 배치에 의한 PDN 임피던스 변화를 검증하기 위해서 3차원 전자장 시뮬레이션 및 네트워크 분석기 측정을 통해 기존 방식을 적용한 패키지 기판과 비교 검증을 진행하였다. 신규 DRAM 패키지 기판은 대부분의 주파수 범위에서 보다 우수한 PDN 임피던스를 가졌으며, 이는 제안한 비아 절단 구조와 파워/그라운드 설계 배치가 PDN 임피던스 감소에 효과적임을 증명한다.

DRA: Duplication Resolver Algorithm for Power Conservation Utilizing Software Defined Network (SDN)

  • In recent years, datacenters, network devices and computers have proliferated. The power consumed by information and communication technology (ICT) devices has inflated in an extraordinary manner. Green communication has emerged as a new approach to reduce and optimize power consumption in ICT sector. Many methods and protocols have been proposed and implemented to achieve green communication. Nevertheless, the increase of power consumption remains a problem. In this work, we attempt to reduce and optimize power consumption of network devices in datacenters environment utilizing software defined network (SDN) paradigm. To gain more insight of the power consumption requirements of network switches, a power measurement system is constructed to measure power consumption levels of network devices. Subsequently, we propose a duplication resolver algorithm (DRA) to power off/on switches reactively. DRA algorithm reduces the required time by switches to construct their flow tables after rebooting. To this end, DRA-based external circuit has been constructed utilizing Ethernet module and an Arduino kit to control power supplies of network devices. To facilitate our work, a testbed has been constructed utilizing Ryu SDN controller, HP2920-24G switches and Arduino kits. Our results show that DRA algorithm can reduce both the power usage and start-up time delay of network switches after failures.

$H_{\infty}$-LTR 제어기 설계의 새로운 접근방법 (A Novel Approach on $H_{\infty}$-LTR Controller Design)

  • 본 논문에서는, $H_{\infty}-LTR$ 설계의 새로운 접근방법을 제시한다. 제시된 방법은 제어입력의 크기 및 회복오차의 적절한 가중을 조절할 수 있는 설계도구를 제공한다. 1단계에서, 요구되는 성능사양에 만족하도록 루프를 정형하기 위하여 Kalman 필터를 설계하고, 설계된 Kalman 필터는 플랜트의 전달함수와 함께 목표전달함수(target transfor function)로 사용된다. 2단계에서는 목표전달함수로 회복을 위하여 감도함수를 가중함수로 상요한 준 최적 $H_{\infty}_LTR$을 설계한다. 시뮬레이션을 통하여 LQG/LTR, $H_{\infty}-LTR$ 방법의 경과를 비교함으로써 제시된 $H_{\}-LTR$의 우수성을 보인다.

  • 디지털 저작물의 전송환경이 빠른 속도로 바뀜에 따라서 디지털 저작물의 저작권 보호가 중요한 이슈로 부각되고 있다. DRM(Digital Right Management)은 디지털 저작자나 출판업자, 그리고 인터넷 서비스 제공자들에게 디지털 저작물을 접근하고 사용하는데 있어서 신뢰할 수 있는 환경을 만들 수 있는 관심 있는 분야이다. 본 논문에서는 라이선스 에이전트를 이용하여 기존의 DRM 기법이 가지고 있는 정적인 DRM이나 온라인 환경에 제한된 어플리케이션의 단점을 개선한 디지털 저작물의 보호 기법에 대하여 제안한다. 제안된 논문은 동적인 DRM 기법으로 동적인 요구 제어 기술을 바탕으로 라이선스 에이전트를 이용하여 온라인과 오프라인 환경에서 동시에 모니터링과 추적을 수행한다. 제안된 시스템은 PKI 보안 환경에서 사용자의 행동이나 데이터 보안을 실시간으로 감시하여 불법적인 접근과 사용을 막는다.

척추마취 수술환자의 간호요구 (A Study on Needs of the Spinal anesthesia Patients)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the needs which were perceived by patients who were received spinal anesthesia for surgery. The subjects consisted of 50 adult patients who were admitted to 2 university hospitals and 2 general hospitals in Pusan city and 1 general hospital in Koje City for surgery under spinal anesthesia. Thirty eight percent of subjects received information about anesthesia before the operation. The instrument for this study was developed by the researcher based on literature and a pretest. Data were collected from December 10, 1999 to February 10, 2000 and were analyzed by content analysis. The results were that there were 533 meaningful statements in the needs of spinal anesthesia patients. The needs of spinal anesthesia patients had 51 items (preoperation (6), induction of anesthesia(5), intraoperation (27), postoperation(13)) and 6 categories (information, emotional welfare, physical welfare, post anesthetic management, control of physical environment, humane treatment). From the results, it can be concluded that: 1. In the pre-operation period, we have to explain anesthesia procedures, adequate position of anesthesia, duration before anesthesia wears off and sensation of paralysis. We have to supply emotional support to relieve anxiety because of anesthesia. 2. In induction of anesthesia, we have to support patient's position for anesthesia, and relieve anxiety so that patients participate in induction of anesthesia well. 3. In intra-operative period, we have to check the level of anesthesia, and keep up a comfortable position for operation and care for physical discomfort such as thirst, nausea, vomiting, dyspnea and to maintain body temperature of the patient. Since the patient is conscious, we have to communicate with the patient to relieve anxiety, maintain privacy, inform the patient of the process of the operation and encourage the surgeon to explain the outcome of the operation. The operating team needs the careful about what they say and to place the instrument well. We have to ventilate the room air and reduce noise. 4. In the post-operative period, we have to explain the purpose and duration of bed rest, complications of anesthesia and care for physical discomfort such as pain, dysuria, headache, backache. Also we have to maintain body temperature of the patient and maintain privacy.

A Calculation Method for the Nonlinear Crowbar Circuit of DFIG Wind Generation based on Frequency Domain Analysis

  • The ride-through control of a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) for the voltage sags on wind farms utilizing crowbar circuits by which the rotor side converter (RSC) is disabled has being reported in many literatures. An analysis and calculation of the transient current when the RSC is switched off are of significance for carrying out the low voltage ride through (LVRT) of a DFIG. The mathematical derivation is highlighted in this paper. The zero-state and zero-input responses of the transient current in the frequency domain through a Laplace transformation are investigated, and the transient components in the time domain are achieved. With the characteristics worked out from the linear resolving without modeling simplification, the selection of the resistance in the linear crowbar circuit and the value conversion from a linear circuit to a nonlinear one is proposed to setup the attenuation rate. In terms of grid code requirements, the theoretical analysis for the time constant of the transient components attenuation insures the controllability when the excitation of the RSC is resumed and it guarantees the reserved time for the response of the reactive power compensation. Simulations are executed in MATLAB/SIMPOWER and experiments are carried out to validate the theoretical analysis. They indicate that the calculation method is effective for selection of the resistance in a crowbar circuit for LVRT operations.

솔라셀 작동 모드와 센서 MAC 프로토콜의 Active 및 Sleep 모드를 고려한 전력 생산 및 공급 제어 (A Solar Cell based Power Production and Supply Complying with the Active and Sleep Modes of Sensor MAC Protocols)

  • 솔라셀의 동작 상태와 센서 MAC 프로토콜의 Active 및 Sleep 동작 모드를 고려하여 충전배터리와 센서통신장치의 입력 전원을 제어하는 회로를 설계한다. 솔라셀과 재충전 배터리를 단순 조합하는 센서통신장치는 햇빛이 없는 시간이 장기간 지속될 때 배터리 소모가 많아서 작동을 멈추게 된다. 일반적으로 센서 MAC 프로토콜은 전력소모를 줄이기 위하여 짧은 Active모드와 전력 소모가 거의 없는 긴 Sleep모드를 반복한다. 이러한 특성을 고려하여, 햇빛이 충분하고 Sleep모드이면 배터리를 충전하고 햇빛이 불충분하고 Active모드이면 배터리 전력을 사용하도록 설계함으로써 배터리 지속 시간을 크게 향상시켰다. 또한, 센서통신장치는 솔라셀의 출력전력값의 크기에 따라서 솔라셀과 배터리 사이에서 입력 전원을 스위칭 하도록 하였다. 스위칭 도중에 일시적 전원 차단으로 인한 마이크로프로세서의 리셋을 방지하기 위하여 커패시터를 사용하였다. 또한, 커패시터는 Sleep모드에서 전원을 공급한다. 실험을 통하여 본 센서통신장치가 장기간의 햇빛이 없는 경우에도 안정적으로 작동한다는 것을 입증하였다.
