Scene-based nonuniformity correction techniques for infrared focal-plane arrays have been widely considered as a key technology, and various algorithms have been proposed to compensate for fixed-pattern noise. However, the existed algorithms' capability is always restricted by the problems of convergence speed and ghosting artifacts. In this paper, an effective scene-based nonuniformity correction method is proposed to solve these problems. The algorithm is an improvement over the constant statistics method and a temporal median is utilized with the Gaussian kernel to estimate the nonuniformity parameters. Also theoretical analysis is conducted to demonstrate that effective ghosting artifacts elimination and superior convergence speed can be obtained with the proposed method. Finally, the performance of the proposed technique is tested with infrared image sequences with simulated nonuniformity and with infrared imagery with real nonuniformity. The results show the proposed method is able to estimate each detector's gain and to offset reliably and that it performs better in increasing convergence speed and reducing ghosting artifacts compared with the conventional techniques.
The evolution of the GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) technology has enhanced positioning performance in terms of positioning accuracy and time efficiency. The technology makes it possible to determine orthometric heights at a few centimeter accuracies by transforming accurate ellipsoid heights if an accurate geoid model has been employed. This study aims to generate a correction surface using GNSS/leveling co-points and a local geoid model, Thailand Geoid Model 2017 (TGM2017), through the Kriging interpolation method in a small local area. Combining the surface and TGM2017 significantly improves height transformation with the 1-cm RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) fit of 10 GNSS/leveling reference points and a mean offset of +0.1 cm. The evaluation of the correction surface at 5 GNSS/leveling checkpoints shows the RMSE of 1.0 cm, which is 82.6 percent of accuracy improvements. The GNSS leveling method can possibly be used to replace a conventional leveling technique at a few centimeter uncertainties in the case of small areas with clear-sky and high satellite visibility environments.
Due to the expensiveness of IKONOS Pro and Precision Products, it is attractive to use the low-cost IKONOS Geo Product with vendor-provided RPCs to produce highly accurate mapping products. The imaging geometry of IKONOS high-resolution imagery is described by RFs instead of rigorous sensor models. This paper presents four different models defined respectively in object space and image space to improve the accuracies of the RF-derived ground coordinates. The four models include the offset model, the scale & offset model, the affine model and the 2nd-order polynomial model. Different configurations of ground control points (GCPs) are carefully examined to evaluate the effect of the GCPs arrangement on the accuracy of ground coordinates. The experiment also evaluates the effect of different cartographic parameters such as the number location, and accuracy of GCPs on the accuracy of geopositioning.
In order to prevent the presence of the residual phase difference at the discriminator output by the existing AFC techniques, we propose a new automatic frequency control(AFC) tracking algorithm for QPSK demodulation at the digital direct broadcasting satellite(DBS) receiver, which we call a rotational decision-directed AFC(RDDAFC). The RDDAFC rotates the decision boundary for the kth received symbol by the frequency deterctor output of the (k-1)th received symbol. Tracking performances of carrier frequency offset by the proposed RDDAFC algorithm are evaluated through computer simulations under the practical DBS channel conditions with a carrier frequency offset of 2.3MHz when S/N equals 2dB. Test results show that the total pull-in time of the RDDAFC is 1.697msec for 10$^{-3}$ SER before forwared error correction at the receiver.
The Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) is under development to provide a monitoring of ocean-color around the Korean Peninsula from geostationary platforms. It is planned to be loaded on Communication, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite (COMS) of Korea. The GOCI has been designed to provide multi-spectral data to detect, monitor, quantify, and predict short term changes of coastal ocean environment for marine science research and application purpose. The target area of GOCI observation covers sea area around the Korean Peninsula. Based on the nonlinear radiometric model, the GOCI calibration method has been derived. The nonlinear radiometric model for GOCI will be validated through ground test. The GOCI radiometric calibration is based on on-board calibration devices; solar diffuser, DAMD (Diffuser Aging Monitoring Device). In this paper, the GOCI radiometric error propagation is analyzed. The radiometric model error due to the dark current nonlinearity is analyzed as a systematic error. Also the offset correction error due to gain/offset instability is considered. The radiometric accuracy depends mainly on the ground characterization accuracies of solar diffuser and DAMD.
Frame synchronization is an critical factor for an effective operation of OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) based communication systems. In this paper, we present and analyze an efficient frame synchronization method based on m-sequence for OFDM-based mobile multimedia communication systems. The cyclic extension preceding OFDM frames is of decisive importance for this method. The m-sequence is added directly to cyclic extension signal in the time domain. By utilizing the autocorrelation characteristics of m-sequence, efficient frame synchronization can be achieved. And we also consider frequency offset estimation simultaneously. The proposed frame synchronization method can be applied to the OFDM-based mobile multimedia communication systems.
실험결과 BeiDou 의사거리 보정정보가 RTCM(Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Services)에서 요구하는 기준국 운영 및 보정서비스를 위한 측위성능을 충족함을 확인하였다.
It is well known that an OFDM receiver is vulnerable to synchronization errors. Despite fine estimations used in the initial acquisition, there are still residual synchronization errors. Though these errors are very small, they severely degrade the bit error rate (BER) performance. In this paper, we propose a residual error elimination scheme for the digital OFDM baseband receiver aiming to improve the overall BER performance. Three improvements on existing schemes are made: a pilot-aided recursive algorithm for joint estimation of the residual carrier frequency and sampling time offsets; a delay-based timing error correction technique, which smoothly adjusts the incoming data stream without resampling disturbance; and a decision-directed channel gain update algorithm based on recursive least-squares criterion, which offers faster convergence and smaller error than the least-mean-squares algorithms. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme works well in the multipath channel, and its performance is close to that of an OFDM system with perfect synchronization parameters.
Infrared bolometer sensor's variation is detected by voltage drop between reference resistor and bolometer resistor in this architecture. One of the serious problems in this architecture is that these resistors value has a process variation. So common-mode level could be different from expectation in room temperature. Different common-mode level could lead to wrong output at the end of readout circuit. We suggest useful method to solve this problem. Difference correction using capacitor has reduced CM level difference to 86% for 1 $M\Omega$. bolometer and reference resistor's 10% variation.
