음식물쓰레기 비매립·비소각 처리방법별 상대적 효율성 분석 -경제성과 환경성의 통합적 평가 - (Relative Efficiencies of Food Waste, Treatment Facilities: A Nonparametric Approach)

  • This study analyzes the relative efficiencies of three types of non-landfill treatment of food wastes; recycling to fertilizers or animal feeds, reducing the size of food wastes, and fermentation of food wastes. Unlike previous studies our study incorporates not only usual inputs and outputs but also emissions of pollutants such as odor and noise generated by the treatment facilities into the analysis. A nonparametric method suggested by Fare et al. (1989) has been used to estimate the relative efficiencies of facilities incorporating emission of pollutants. The results show that recycling is more efficient than the other two treatment methods. It is also shown that the usual models that do not incorporate the environmental aspects of the treatment facilities derive a biased conclusion on the relative efficiencies.

  • 산업이 발달하고 경제가 성장될수록 환경을 오염시키는 신종 오염물질은 계속 증가하는 반면 인간의 삶의 질 향상으로 대기질 개선에 대한 욕구는 과거에 비하여 훨씬 더 높아지고 있다. 산업화이전 악취에 대한 오염문제는 다른 환경 오염에 비하여 아주 작은 위치를 차지하였지만 현대에 와서는 대기오염문제에서 빼놓을 수 없는 사회문제로 대두되고 있다. 악취 원인물질을 정확하게 분석하는 것은 매우 어렵다. 악취에 관한 국내의 측정방법은 대기오염공정시험법에서 직접관능법과 공기희석관능법, 그리고 일부항목에 대한 기기분석법이 제시되고 있다.   • Often Regular Measurement Target 32 Spots which are distributed at Seo-gu in Incheon Metropolitan and Odour Emission Target 100 Factories based on the task instruction of Ministry of Environment in Korea were selected by considering to atmosphere phenomena and regional characteristics etc. This paper aims at building the Decreasing Prediction System of Odour which is capable of comparing and examining the concentration distribution by odour compounds, the distribution maps of odour diffusion and the contribution degree of sphere of influence, which is discharged from these above spots and factories.

산업폐기물 소각플랜트의 작업환경개선 (Improvement of Working Surroundings in the Industrial Waste Incinerator)

  • 산업폐기물소각로에서 폐기물을 처리 시 폐기물 투입공정이나 전처리공정에서 많이 발생하는 오염물질인 입자상물질과 악취 등은 작업자의 작업능률의 저하를 초래하므로, 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 새로운 형태의 오염물질 저감설비를 설치하여 작업환경을 개선하고자 하였다. 전산유체역학을 이용하여 산업폐기물소각로에서 발생하는 오염물질의 확산경로를 예측하였으며, 이 결과를 이용하여 오염물질 저감설비의 형태와 설치 위치를 결정하였다. 오염물질 저감설비를 설치한 후, 드럼폐기물 보관장(사이트 1)과 폐합성수지 보관장(사이트 2)에서 톨루엔 83-97%, 스티렌 48-72%, 크실렌 75-87%, 암모니아 23-36%의 저감효과를 보였으며, 또한 PM-10과 TSP는 폐기물 투입구 하단부(사이트 3)에서 각각 87%와 86%, 폐기물 투입구 옆부분(사이트 4)에서 각각 87%와 85%의 저감효과를 보였다. 본 연구에서 설계한 새로운 형태의 오염물질 저감설비는 입자상물질과 악취의 제거에 뛰어난 성능을 보여 산업페기물소각로를 운용하는 다른 페기물처리업체에 적용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

순산소와 Vortex Aerator를 이용한 도심하천의 수질 및 악취 관리 (Urban Streams' Water Quality and Odor Control Using Pure Oxygen and Vortex Aerator)

  • 와류에 의해 물과 산소의 충돌을 반복적으로 일으켜 산소를 용존시키는 Multistage Vortex Aerator를 하천 정화에 적용하였다. 본 연구의 대상 현장인 괴정천은 부산시 사하구 도심을 흘러 낙동강 하구로 연결되는데, 우천 시에는 비점 오염물질이 유입되고 평시에도 하수 슬러지가 일부 유입되어 퇴적을 반복함에 따라 하천수의 용존산소 농도가 혐기성 상태에 가까웠다. 산소농도가 최소 0.1 ppm인 하천수를 흡입하여 22 ppm 이상으로 산소를 용존시켜 분당 1 m3을 순환시켰을 때, 하천에 나타나는 수질과 악취 변화를 2개월간 모니터링하였다. 운영 결과, 용존산소가 하천 전체적으로 약간 나쁨(4)~나쁨(5)에서, 좋음(1b)~보통(3) 등급으로 개선되었고, 총인 농도는 평균 76 % 감소되었다. 복합악취는, 하천 전체가 혐기화된 측정일에 최대 84.5 % 저감을 관찰할 수 있었다.

일부 환경 전문가들의 환경 위해성 인식도에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Environmental Professionals′ Risk Perception towards Some Pollution Issues)

  • To investigate the risk perception of environmental issues, two consequtive surveys were conducted to environmental professionals using a standardized questionnaire from September to October in 1999. The number of subjects were 72 for the first survey and 68 for the second one. The questionnaire was consisted of items such as the degree of environmental pollution in Korea, risk perception of some issues on human health and ecosystem, and seriousness of the problems in the real situation in Korea. For the degree of environmental pollution in Korea, the average risk rating in the second test (7.4 point) was significantly higher than that in the first test (7.2 point). The risk perception on the general human health and ecosystem, and the seriousness in Korea situation were analyzed in the order of ′air pollution′, ′water pollution′,′soil contamination′,′waste′,′toxic chemical pollutants′,′food contamination′,′ocean contamination′, ′odor pollution′, and ′noise pollution′. Also ′toxic chemical pollutants′ problem was perceived to be the highest risk on general human health or ecosystem, and on present situation in Korea. ′Automotive vehicle exhaust′ problem was perceived to be the most severe environmental problems among specific 30 items. ′Industrial source air pollution′,′toxic air pollutants′, and ′domestic and industrial source pollutants to surface water′ were relatively severe environmental problems comparing to other problems. The pollution issues were classified into four categories by two aspects of perception; risk in general setting and seriousness in Korea situation. If the issues were highly serious in Korea and low risk perception in general setting then it is named "the Korea-specific group". Those that were all high score in two aspects, named "the Common group". Those that were all low in two aspects, named "the Nonsignificant group". And the issues were high risk perception in general setting and low seriousness in Korean situation, named "the Latent group".

플라즈마 광촉매 복합 긍정을 이용한 악취물질 중 TEA, MEK의 분해처리 (Treatment of Odorous air pollutants by Plasma and Photocatalytic Process.)

  • Plasma-photocatalytic oxidation process was applied in the decomposition of Triethylamine(TEA) and Methyl ethyl ketone(MEK). Plasma reactor was made entirely of pyrex glass and consists of 24mm inner diameter, 1,800mm length and discharge electrode of 0.4mm stainless steel. And initial concentrations of TEA and MEK for plasma-photocatalytic oxidation are 100 ppm. Odor gas samples were taken by gas-tight syringe from a glass sampling bulb which was located at reactor inlet and outlet, and TEA and MEK were determined by GC-FID. For plasma process, the decomposition efficiency of TEA and MEK were evaluated by varying different flowrates and decomposition efficiency of TEA and MEK increased considerably with decreasing treatment flowrates. For photocatalytic oxidation process, also the decomposition efficiency of TEA and MEK increased considerably with decreasing treatment flowrates. The decomposition efficiency of MEK was 57.8%, 34.2%, 18.8% respectively and the decomposition efficiency of TEA was reached all 100%. This result is higher than that of plasma process only, From this study, the results indicate that plasma-photocatalytic oxidation process is ideal for treatment of TEA and MEK.

조류와 유기화합물의 동시제거를 위한 흡착 - DAF 복합공정 (Adsorption-DAF Hybrid Process for the Simultaneous Removal of Algae and Organic Compounds)

  • Dissolved air flotation (DAF) is an effective solid/liquid separation process for low density floc particles such as algal, color-alum and clay-alum flocs produced from low turbidity water. The removal of taste and odor-causing organics (2-mthylisoboneol and geosmin) originating from algae in drinking water is a local and worldwide concern. Although DAF has been effectively applied for the removal of suspended solid, its application for the treatment of dissolved organic carbon is very limited. In this study, a new hybrid system consisting of adsorption and DAF processes was introduced for the simultaneous removal of algae and taste and odor-causing organics. Powdered activated carbon (PAC) was used as an adsorbent. In this proposed system, the major concern of eliminating the spent PAC from the system was also addressed. It was found that zeta potential of algae and PAC was increased with coagulant dosage, and the removal efficiency in DAF was also enhanced up to 90~95% under the given experimental conditions. Based on this study, the hybrid process was found to be a promising technology for the simultaneous removal of algae and dissolved organic pollutants.
