This study is an effort to develop a stochastic model of precipitation series that preserves the pattern of occurrence of precipitation events throughout the year as well as several characteristics of the duration, amount, and intensity of precipitation events. In this study an event cluster model is used to describe the occurrence of precipitation events. A logarithmic negative mixture distribution is used to describe event duration and separation. The number of events within each cluster is also described by the Poisson cluster process. The duration of each event within a cluster and the separation of events within a single cluster are described by a logarithmic negative mixture distribution. The stochastic model for hourly precipitation occurrence process is fitted to historical precipitation data by estimating the model parameters. To allow for seasonal variations in the precipitation process, the model parameters are estimated separately for each month. an analysis of thirty-four years of historical and simulated hourly precipitation data for Seoul indicates that the stochastic model preserves many features of historical precipitation. The seasonal variations in number of precipitation events in each month for the historical and simulated data are also approximately identical. The marginal distributions for event characteristics for the historical and simulated data were similar. The conditional distributions for event characteristics for the historical and simulated data showed in general good agreement with each other.

The size distribution, maturation, and molting stages of the snow crab Chionoecetes opilio in the coastal sea of Gyeongbuk were investigated to understand its monthly and bathymetric occurrence patterns. C. opilio was collected from three depth strata (A1, 100-120 m; A2, 120-180 m; A3, 180-220 m) from May to November 2020. The average sex ratio was 0.8. The mean carapace width was largest in females in October, and in males in November. The occurrence rate of small immature crabs was the highest in A1. The ratio of ovigerous females at 75-80 mm was highest at A2 and A3. There was a significant difference in carapace width in females and depth in both sexes in September and October. The occurrence rate of immature crabs was the highest in A1, whereas that ovigerous and spawned females was higher in A2 and A3 than in A1. Very old-shelled females occurred highly in September and October. The occurrence rate of newly shelled males was higher throughout the study period. This research indicated that the size distribution, maturation conditions, and molting stages of C. opilio varied with water depth strata in the coastal sea of Gyeongbuk, Korea.
The main objective of the study was to analyze the weather conditions of frost occurrence for protecting crops against frost damage in Korea. The primary data used for the analysis of meteorological characteristics of frost occurrence days are the airmass pattern, minimum temperature, grass minimum temperature, daily temperature range, relative humidity, minimum relative humidity, mean wind speed in autumn and spring. Frost often occurs when the migratory anticyclone passes the southwest of Korea. The importance of grass minimum temperature measurements for agricultural purposes has previously been recognized. The grass minimum thermometer is capable of detecting ground frosts which are often not recorded by the minimum thermometer. The minimum temperature of frost occurrence days is above $0^{\circ}C$ in the coastal area, but the grass minimum temperature of frost occurrence days is below $0^{\circ}C$ in the whole area. The daily temperature of frost occurrence days is about 9 to $12^{\circ}C$ in the coastal area and is over $14^{\circ}C$ in the inland area. The minimum relative humidity of frost occurrence days is about 30 to 50%. The mean wind speed of frost occurrence days is less than 2m/sec.
The red swamp crayfish (Procambarus clarkia) originated from the North America distribute widely as invasive species throughout the world including Europe, Asia, Africa, North America and South America. The red swamp crayfish is also an invasive species in South Korea. We aimed to characterize the occurrence and distribution pattern of the red swamp crayfish, and evaluate the potential distribution of this species in South Korea. In South Korea, the red swamp crayfish was firstly reported in Seoul in 1996, and recently its occurrence is frequently reported at streams or reservoirs at different regions, showing the expansion of its distribution area. The red swamp crayfish has high potential to occur in the nationwide scale in South Korea because of their biological adaptation, effects of climate change, changes of their habitat condition, and various types of human activities. Finally, our results revealed the necessary to conduct an extensive field survey, to keep up a monitoring program for the occurrence of alien species, and to implement a strategy to prevent the dispersal of alien species in the natural ecosystems.

The present study was carried out with the aim to evaluate the viability of layings (delivery of fertilized and unfertilized eggs) with egg laying duration of elite bivoltine races. The temporal aspect of mating in terms of egg layings duration may also have impact on the number of eggs laid, pattern of egg laying and their viability. After different interval of egg laying duration, moth of Bombyx mori are removed from oviposition site after they have completed egg laying. Present investigation confirmed that there are no significant difference in relation to the occurrence of viable (fertilized) and non viable (unfertilized) eggs and duration of oviposition. Percentage of unfertilized eggs varied from 2.41 to 3.42% in case of CSR-3, 2.59 to 3.62% in case of CSR-6, 2.82 to 3.66% in case of CSR-16 and 2.58 to 3.40% in case of CSR-17 in different treatments. The occurrence of unfertilized eggs are also not significant in the different treatments specially in those eggs which were laid 24 hours after oviposition and kept for 4 months hibernation schedule.

This paper uses a probability-based approach to study the spatial relationships between landslides and their causative factors in the Mingchukur area, Bostanlik districts of Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The approach is based on digital databases and incorporates methods including probability analysis, spatial pattern analysis, and interactive mapping. First, an object-oriented conceptual model for describing landslide events is proposed, and a combined database of landslides and environmental factors is constructed by integrating various databases within a unifying conceptual framework. The frequency ratio probability model and landslide occurrence data are linked for interactive, spatial evaluation of the relationships between landslides and their causative factors. In total, 15 factors were analyzed, divided into topography, hydrology, and geology categories. All analyzed factors were also divided into numerical and categorical types. Numerical factors are continuous and were evaluated according to their $R^2$ values. A landslide susceptibility map was constructed based on conditioning factors and landslide occurrence data using the frequency ratio model. Finally, the map was validated and the accuracy showed the satisfactory value of 83.3%.

Since Metcalfa pruinosa was first reported in Koera, it has continually caused damage to sweet persimmon orchard in southern part of Korea. Metcafa pruinosa exist not only in farmland but also in forest areas, and are difficult to control due to the influx of individuals from near forest. M. pruinosa has been occurred in orchard and its surroundings because of various host range. Thus, it has been difficult to decide spatial range and control time for efficient management. In this study, occurrence and dispersal pattern of M. pruinosa in persimmon orchard were surveyed using clear sticky traps, and spatial patterns were analyzed with SADIE(Spatial Analysis by Distance IndicEs), based on location information at sticky traps. Spatial association between survey time was also analyzed to identify when the spatial pattern changed. In sweet persimmon orchard, M. pruinosa mainly dispersed in mid to late May, when the first instar hatches, and in August, emerging season of adult. The first instar nymphs hatched in mid-May were randomly distributed in orchard, but distribution was changed to aggregative pattern after dispersed surroundings of orchard. Adults showed random distribution pattern after immigration to orchard again. These tendency was also observed in density change at orchard and its surroundings, and matched to actual density of M. pruinosa in sweet persimmon trees.
A 9-year-old male poodle dog exhibited a white to yellow 3.0$\times$2.0$\times$3.9 cm mass in the left testicle with cryptorchidism and monorchidism. Grossly, necrosis and hemorrhage were observed on the cut surface of the mass. Histopathologically the mass consisted of seminoma and sertoli cell tumor (SCT). Seminoma was characterized with diffuse solitary pattern in which tumor cells had polygonal nuclei and clear cell border. SCT was composed of compact neoplastic cells with small nuclei and indefinite cytoplasm. The tumor was occupied mainly with SCT. SCT and seminoma were observed occasionally in the same lesion. From these results, this case was diagnosed as concurrent seminoma and SCT in the left cryptorchidism and monorchidism. To our knowledge, this is the first report of concurrent occurrence of seminoma and SCT in a dog with cryptorchidism and monorchidism in Korea.
The extensive cultivation of new yielding varieties might give some distruption to the rice insect pest complex in Korea The population of Nephottetix cincticeps and Laodelphax striatellus has decreased in number since the extensive cultivation of new varieties, Tongil lines, in 1976. During the last 23 years, the rice insect pest population except for Chilo suppressalis drastically decreased, however, C. suppressalis population increased again in recent years. This tendency seems to be very closely correlated with the cultivation of new varieties, and a lot of fertilizations and insecticides applications.
This study is a research result of investigating causes of landslides occurred at Uijongbu in Kyonggi Province, Korea. For works of this research, informations and data about landslides occurred at the site, geological and topographical informations were collected to analyze causes of landslides, and mapping landslides was performed by using results of field investigation. Data about rainfall during occurrence of landslides around Uijongbu was also used to find the effect of intense rainfall on occurrence of landslides. Based on informations obtained from field investigation and collected data, the scale and the pattern of landslides were analyzed and influencing factors on landslide such as intensity and duration of rainfall, topography, geologic condition, geotechnical engineering properties of ground, forestry were investigated statistically to find causes of landslides. On the other hands, for geotechnical engineering respects, slope stability analysis was performed for the typical sites chosen from the sites where the landslides occurred, using informations obtained from detailed topographical survey with total stations, field reconnaissance and results from laboratory tests.
