This study evaluated 23 elderly residents living independently in 4 group homes for their behaviors of space occupancy and activities of daily living. The aim of the study was to analysis the habit of space occupancy of residents in group homes for elderly people. As the results, the habit of space occupancy of residents in group homes was analysed and categorized into four types: (1) bedroom occupancy, (2) common space occupancy, (3) 2-space occupancy and (4) several spaces occupancy. It was shown, then, that the common space occupancy in ‘ㅂ' group home, 2-space occupancy and several spaces occupancy in 'ㅇ' and 'ㄱ' group homes, and bedroom occupancy in ‘ㅅ' group home were highest, respectively, so that the type of their space occupancy varied in accordance with individual group homes. Moreover, there was a difference in the habit of their space occupancy according to the degree of achieving both ADL and IADL. This fact seems to indicate that the higher the degree of their independence in ADL and IADL, the more the number of their occupying space. Accordingly, the degree of their independence in achieving ADL and IADL should be taken into account in planning residential spaces for elderly people, including individual and commonly sharing spaces, traffic lines, layout and facilities.

The purpose of this study was to exam the activities by the distribution of time and space occupancy on their weekday and weekend. to study the space and labor segregation by sex. The sample population included 23 wives and their husbands(30-40 years old). The major findings of the research are as follows: First, it shows that wives' time use by activity was consistent with the space occupancy on weekday. Second, on weekend, wives was used to stay in living room most of time. Thirdly, husbands show the stereotype of time use on weekday, and substitute leisure time for labor time. Finally, on weekend, the wives and husbands have the joint time in the household labor or leisure activities.
This study evaluated 26 elderly residents living independently in 4 group homes for their abilities in daily living and analyzed their behaviors of space occupancy and activities of daily living. The aim of the study was to identify the relationships between the physical environments of the group homes and the daily activities of the residents. The results of this study are summarized as follows. 1) Most residents in the group home considered bathing and cooking to be the most difficult of their living activities. The residents were categorized into "Independent," "Semi-dependent" and "Dependent" groups, on the basis of their ADL and IADL scores, and individual groups were examined. On ADL scorelt was shown, then, that 65.4% of the residents were was independent in ADL, but there was no any significant difference in IADL between the independent, semi-dependent and dependent groups. In addition, there was a difference in ADL and IADL among the groups. The independent group's residents were shown to be independent in ADL and IADL, whereas the but those of the semi-dependent and dependent groups' residents were lower in IADL than in ADL. 2) When their behaviors of space occupancy were examined, it appeared that the independent group showed a different space sharing pattern among individual residents, with a wide range of behavior of space occupancy. Meanwhile, The semi-dependent group mostly shared a common space with simple activities of daily living while no any service low leisure program was provided. However, the dependent group mainly consisted of residents who had a low level of independence in ADL and IADL, so that their behaviors of space occupancy were entirely negative.

An occupancy map is a representation methodology describing the region occupied by objects in 3D space, which can be utilized for autonomous navigation and object recognition. In this paper, we describe a technique for building an occupancy map using depth data extracted from stereo images. In addition, some techniques are proposed for utilizing the occupancy map for the segmentation of object regions. After the geometric information on the ground plane is extracted from a disparity image, the occupancy map is constructed by projecting each matched point to the ground plane-based 3D space. We explain techniques for extracting moving object regions using the occupancy map and present experimental results using real stereo images.
Field survey were made. and the numbers of samples are 294 houses(3-ways;66-95.7m2, 99-128.7m2) and more than 132m')in Daegu. The major findings are as follows:1) The space evaluation of the living room is changed by the furniture occupancy rate and is different of the arrangement types.2) The space evaluation of the living room is much affected by the type of furniture which lie in near wall arrangement in 66-95.7m2, the proportion of the wall occupancy in 99-128.7m2, the proportion of the space occupancy in more of 132m2.3) In the living room an appropriate quantity of furniture is classified into 3 types of the occupying proportion. As the floor occupancy proportion supporting furniture is 13-22%, wall furniture is 10-l7f% and total furniture which combined both the supporting furniture and the wall furniture is 23-36%. Second. The proportion occupying the wall is 6-11% for the supporting furniture, 14-27% for the wall furniture, and 24-32% for the total furniture. Finally the proportion occupying the space is 12-9% for the supporting, 6-llftfer the wall furniture, and 12-l9ft for the total furniture.
This study focuses on the evaluation of the streets on residential areas. For this purpose, pedestrain and vehicle occupancy indicators on residential areas are proposed, and vehicle, pedestrain flow and status of on-street parking on residential streets are analyzed. Also, according to the suggested occupancy indicator, occupancy status of pedestrain and vehicle are identified. At the end, evaluation of residential streets are conducted. The suggested occupancy indicator is a quantitative indicator which can represent the traffic situation on street. It can also be represente din the same dimension among pedestrain, vehicle flow, packed vehicle. Also, occupancy indicator can be utilized for the allocation and evaluation of transportation modes on residential street. Except on-street parking during the day time, moving vehicle occupancy rate contains the more than 80 precent when it is estimated based on the vehicle flow and pedestrain only. As the streets on residential area are occupied by the pedestrain approximately 20 percent during the day time, it is identified quantitatively that the necessity of space for pedestrain.
The sutdy is to investigate the variables that influenced on territoriality$.$privacy and to find the relation between territoriality$.$privacy and self-identity. Data were collected from 342 homemakers in Pusan. Data were analysed by SPSS programs. To test hypotheses frequency, correlation and Multiple Regression (Path Analysis) were applied. The results were as follows: 1. The significant variales that influenced on territoriality were space occupancy level, SES and neighborhood relationship. 2. The significant variables that influenced on privacy were space occupancy level, SES and neighborhood relationship. 3. The significant variables that influenced on self-identity were territoriality, privacy, neighborhood relationship, housing ownership, space occupancy level and SES.

The objective of this paper is to produce a weighted graph map for path-planning of an autonomous mobile robot(AMR) based on the measurements from a single ultrasonic sensor, which are acquired when the autonomous mobile robot explores unknown indoor circumstance. The AMR navigates in th unknown space by following the wall and gathers the range data using the ultrasonic sensor, from which the occupancy grid map is constructed by associating the range data with occupancy certainties. Then, the occupancy grid map is converted to a weighted graph map suing morphological image processing and thinning algorithms. the path- planning for autonomous navigation of a mobile robot can be carried out based on the occupancy grid map. These procedures are implemented and tested using an AMR, and primary results are presented in this paper.

The purpose of this study is to find problems and to provide architectural design standards of the Learning Space Unit(L.S.U.) in Elementary Schools through the Post-occupancy Evaluation(POE). In this study, we found six major problems of the type of the L.S.U. in elementary schools. More than 50% of users expressed dissatisfactions in these items : size, safety, cooling facility, noise, privacy and primary meaning for its original purpose. After the interrelation-analysis, we checked pros and cons about each forms of L.S.U. It is the result of analysis of the layout method in L.S.U. 1) "$8.4m{\times}8.4m$" classroom unit got the highest positive responses 2) "2-classroom type" and "4-classroom type" got higher score than "3-classroom type" 3) "Whole faced type" 1) made more active Multi-space than "Partial faced type" 4) prefered prepared "Open-classroom" to "Closed-classroom" 5) 'Zoning type between L.S.U.s' couldn't influence to user's responses. Designers can consult those informations when they plan a new, remodeling and additional elementary school.
Recently, many researches on the supply of public rental-housings that utilize modular houses have been conducted for the expanded supply of public rental house and consumer-customized supply. For this reason, a research on recognition and satisfaction of residents who live in modular houses was conducted based on their evaluations on public rental houses utilizing actual modular houses. Consequently planning guidelines that would increase residency satisfaction was drawn. Surveys and interviews of 'The Gongneung Hee-mang Housing' were conducted, and analyses of descriptive statistics, multiple regression analysis and importance-satisfaction analysis were conducted. The post occupancy evaluations inform that to gain extra recognition by promoting advantages of modular houses and engaging in educational activities are needed. Dealing with issues such as external noises and vibrations, proper common facility, interior space plan, taking account of facility plan is also needed. This study would contribute to establish modular house planning, reflecting the residents' practical demands.
