Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha coefficients, multiple regression through SAS program. The results of the study were as follows : 1. Three dimensions(task significance, skill variety, autonomy) of five core job characteristics have positive influence on job involvement and only one dimension(autonomy) of five core job characteristics has positive influence on job satisfaction of nurses. 2. The level of career commitment have positive influence on both job involvement and job satisfaction of nurses. 3. Methods: Data were collected from 10 career nurses though in-depth interviews about their experiences. The main question was "How do you describe your experience of the process of overcoming intention to turnover as a career nurse?" Qualitative data from field and transcribed notes were analyzed using Strauss & Corbin's grounded theory methodology. Results: From the participants' statement, 127 concepts, 34 subcategories and 13 categories were extracted through the open coding process. The core category was discovered to be 'back to the original place'. Phenomenon was identified as 'reached the threshold that cannot be withstood' and this series of process was categorized as having four stages: 'conflict', 'meditation', 'discovery' and 'conquest'. There were three types of overcoming turnover intention in career nurses, 'adjustment', 'compromise', 'self-led'. Conclusion: The results of this study produced useful information about the needs of career nurses during the process of overcoming turnover intention based on their stage and overcoming types of turnover intension. Ultimately this study may help decrease the turnover intention of career nurses.

Results: Career satisfaction (CS) showed positive(+) effects, and increased with higher job adequacy (${\beta}=.139$, t=2.676, p=.007), job autonomy (${\beta}=.260$, t=4.815, p<.001), and career planning (${\beta}=.301$, t=5.797, p<.001). Career commitment (CC) showed positive(+) effects, and increased with higher job adequacy (${\beta}=.107$, t=2.280, p=.023), job autonomy (${\beta}=.257$, t=5.035, p<.001), career planning (${\beta}=.232$, t=4.717, p<.001), and career satisfaction (CS)(${\beta}=.123$, t=2.293, p=.022). CWI showed negative(-) effects and increased with lower CC (${\beta}=-.906$, t=-15.72, p<.001). Conclusion: Results indicate that CC and CS have important mediating roles between job adequacy, job autonomy, career planning and CWI. As CC directly influenced CWI, there is a need to strengthen CC to prevent frequent changes and discontinuation of nurses' careers and to contribute to productivity HO's.

  • This research is a descriptive study intended to identify the factors involved in the influence of the emotional intelligence of nursing students on their career decision-making self-efficacy and career decision levels. The correlations among the major variables were analyzed by calculating the Pearson's correlation coefficients. To identify the effects of the subjects' general characteristics and emotional intelligence on their career decision-making self-efficacy and career decision levels, a multiple regression analysis was conducted. The analysis results showed that there were positive relationships among emotional intelligence, career decision making and career decision-making self-efficacy. The factors influencing career decision-making self-efficacy were gender (${\beta}=-.155$), motivation to find employment (${\beta}=-.145$), use of emotions (${\beta}=.236$), emotional control (${\beta}=.197$), and understanding of others' emotions (${\beta}=.157$). In addition, the factors affecting the subjects' career decision level were the year level (${\beta}=.273$), motivation to find employment (${\beta}=-.145$), motivation to obtain others' recommendation (${\beta}=-.138$), and emotional control (${\beta}=.223$). Hence, sufficient endorsement from school or home is required with regard to the roles and duties of a nurse, in order to motivate future students to select the nursing degree. Furthermore, it is suggested that emotional intelligence may be improved when the degree program provides a higher proportion of emotional education.
