  • This paper demonstrates the CAS technique of analyzing the nature and the structure of the numerical error for education and research purposes. This also illustrates the CAS approach in experimenting with the numerical operations in an arbitrary computer number system and also in doing error analysis in a visual manner.

  • Artificial chromosome manipulation and amplification of single-copy yeast artificial chromosome (YAC) are usually required in order to use YACs for applications such as physical mapping and functional analysis in eukaryotes. We designed and implemented a Simultaneous YAC Manipulation-Amplification (SYMA) system that combines the copy number amplification system of YAC with a convenient YAC manipulation system. To achieve the desired split and to amplify a YAC clone-harboring plant chromosome, a pBGTK plasmid containing a conditional centromere and thymidine kinase (TK) gene was constructed as a template to amplify the splitting fragment via PCR. By splitting, new 490-kb and 100-kb split YACs containing the elements for copy number amplification were simultaneously generated from a 590-kb YAC clone. The 100-kb split YAC was then successfully amplified 14.4-fold by adding 3 mg/ml sulfanilamide and $50\;{\mu}g/ml$ methotrexate (S3/M50) as inducing substances.

  • In the Korea Meteorological Administration earth system model (HadGEM2-AO), cloud drop number concentration is determined from aerosol number concentration according to the observed relationship between aerosol and cloud drop number concentrations. However, the observational dataset used for establishing the relationship was obtained from limited regions of the earth and therefore may not be representative of the entire earth. Here we reestablished the relationship between aerosol and cloud drop number concentrations based on a composite of observational dataset obtained from many different regions around the world that includes the original dataset. The new relationship tends to provide lower cloud drop number concentration for aerosol number concentration < 600 $cm^{-3}$ and the opposite for > 600 $cm^{-3}$. This new empirical relationship was applied to the KMA earth system model and the historical run (1861~2005) is made again. Here only the 30 year (1861~1890) averages from the runs with the new and the original relationships between aerosol and cloud drop number concentrations (newHIST and HIST, respectively) were compared. For this early period aerosol number concentrations were generally lower than 600 $cm^{-3}$ and therefore cloud drop number concentrations were generally lower but cloud drop effective radii were larger for newHIST than for HIST. The results from the complete historical run with the new relationship are expected to show more significant differences from the original historical run.

A Smart System for Customer Ordering Management at Offline Stores (오프라인 매장에서 고객 순번 관리를 위한 스마트 시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose a new smart ordering application system for granting the customer numbers. The proposed system assigns sequence number of customers who visit at offline store as using speaker and microphone of smart device. This system has more advantage than the existing ordering system. Because the proposed system does not need any customer information like as phone number or SNS ID, it can protect customer privacy information. In this system, we use high frequency which is inaudible to the human ear as communication signal between speaker and microphone. To confirm performance evaluation, we perform a test with ten smart devices like as iPhone 6, 7, 8, Galaxy s8 and the result shown a success rate of 98.7 percent. Therefore, the proposed system can be useful service technology at the various offline store which need to assign a sequence number for customers, because many customers visit at the store.

  • In this paper, we generalized the results of [23, 26], and get the results of the condition number of the W-weighted Drazin-inverse solution of linear system W AW\chi=b, where A is an $m{\times}n$ rank-deficient matrix and the index of A W is $k_1$, the index of W A is $k_2$, b is a real vector of size n in the range of $(WA)^{k_2}$, $\chi$ is a real vector of size m in the range of $(AW)^{k_1}$. Let $\alpha$ and $\beta$ be two positive real numbers, when we consider the weighted Frobenius norm $\|[{\alpha}W\;AW,\;{\beta}b]\|$(equation omitted) on the data we get the formula of condition number of the W-weighted Drazin-inverse solution of linear system. For the normwise condition number, the sensitivity of the relative condition number itself is studied, and the componentwise perturbation is also investigated.

  • In the case of numerical implementation, the exact solution method for the M/M/s system where customers demand multiple server use [2] reveals limitations, if a system has large number of servers or types of customers. This is due to the huge matrices involved in the course of the calculations. This paper offers an approximation scheme for such cases. Capitalizing the characteristics of the service rate curve of the system, this method approximates the service rate as a piecewise linear function. With the service rates obtained from the linear function for each number of customers n (n=0. 1. 2,$\cdots$), ${\mu}(n)$, steady-state probabilities and measures of performance are found treating this system as an ordinary M/M/s system. This scheme performs well when the traffic intensity of a system is below about 0.8. Some numerical examples are presented.

  • To process computer graphics in real time, the high-speed operations(multiplier and adder) are needed to increase the speed of graphic process. RNS(Residue Number System) is integer number system that has the parallel and high-speed operation. Also, it is able to design both high-speed multiplier and adder, since a cyclic group has an isomorphic relation between multiplication and addition in RNS. So in this paper, DRNS(Double Residue Number System) is proposed, it is used for the multiplier and the adder, which are designed using a circulative code for the high-speed graphic processor in RNS. The designed multiplier would operate with the speed of 87Mzz two TTL using 74s09 and 74s32.

  • Sunspots are dark areas that grow and decay on the lowest level of the sun that is visible from the Earth. Shot-term predictions of solar activity are essential to help plan missions and to design satellites that will survive for their useful lifetimes. This paper presents a parallel-structure fuzzy system(PSFS) for prediction of sunspot number time series. The PSFS consists of a multiple number of component fuzzy systems connected in parallel. Each component fuzzy system in the PSFS predicts future data independently based on its past time series data with different embedding dimension and time delay. An embedding dimension determines the number of inputs of each component fuzzy system and a time delay decides the interval of inputs of the time series. According to the embedding dimension and the time delay, the component fuzzy system takes various input-output pairs. The PSFS determines the final predicted value as an average of all the outputs of the component fuzzy systems in order to reduce error accumulation effect.

  • We present in this paper an optimal stocking policy for a repairable inventory system under reliability improvement. For this purpose we illustrate commercial flight lines with a large number of planes. This model is supported by a central repair facility. For modeling the nonstationary M/M/s system we implemented SIMAN for computing the time dependent number of units in the repair facility with any number of units. In this model we provide the required inventory level at each location. 1y month. for various levels of associated stock-out risk.

  • Stochastic computation employs random pulse streams to represent numbers. In this paper, we study a new method to implement the number system which uses the ratio of the numbers of ones and zeros in the pulse streams. In this number system. if P is the probability that a pulse is one in a pulse stream then the number X represented by the pulse stream is defined as P/(1-P). We propose circuits to implement the basic operations such as addition multiplication and sigmoid function with this number system and examine the error characteristics of such operations in stochastic computation. We also propose a neuron model and derive a learning algorithm based on backpropagation for the 3-layered feedforward neural networks. We apply this learning algorithm to a digit recognition problem. To analyze the results, we discuss the errors due to the variance of the random pulse streams and the quantization noise of finite length register.
