Online communities, such as Internet portal sites and social media, have become popular since they allow users to share opinions and to obtain information anytime, anywhere. Accordingly, an increasing number of opinions are manipulated to the advantage of particular groups or individuals, and these opinions include falsified product reviews and political propaganda. Existing detection systems are built upon the characteristics of manipulated opinions for one particular time period. However, manipulation tactics change over time to evade detection systems and to more efficiently spread information, so detection systems should also evolve according to the changes. We therefore propose a system that helps observe and trace changes in manipulation tactics. This system classifies opinions into clusters that represent different tactics, and changes in these clusters reveal evolving tactics. We evaluated the system with over a million opinions collected during three election campaigns and found various changes in (i) the times when manipulations frequently occur, (ii) the methods to manipulate recommendation counts, and (iii) the use of multiple user IDs. We suggest that the operators of online communities perform regular audits with the proposed system to identify evolutions and to adjust detection systems.
Location-based services have been expanded rapidly in local and overseas markets due to technological advances and increasing applications of wireless internet. Various researches have been made to manage efficiently the location information of moving objects. A basic location-based alert service provides alerting messages automatically when either entering or leaving a specific location and it is expected to become one of the most important location-based services. Location-based alert services require a location polling method to acquire current locations for a large number of moving objects. However, a simple periodical location polling method causes severe system overload because a system should keep updating location information of the moving objects ceaselessly. Most location polling algorithms for location-based alerting services are not suitable for mobile users with dynamic and unsteady moving patterns. In this paper, we propose an improved location polling algorithm for location-based alerting services to reduce the amount of location information acquisition and therefore, to decrease the system load. Various experiments show that the proposed algorithm outperforms other algorithms.
In order to provide various business analysis methods, OLAP(On-Line Analytical Processing) systems represent their data with multidimensional structures. These multidimensional data are often delivered to users in the horizontal format of tables whose columns are corresponding to values of dimension attributes. Since the horizontal tables nay have a large number of columns, they cannot be stored directly in relational database systems. Furthermore, the tables are likely to have many null values (i.e., sparse tables). In order to manage the horizontal tables efficiently, we can store them as the vertical format of tables which has dimension attribute names as their columns thus transforms the columns of horizontal tables into rows. In this way, every queries for horizontal tables have to be transformed into those for vertical tables. This paper proposed a technique for transforming horizontal table queries into vertical table ones by utilizing not only traditional relational algebraic operators but also the PIVOT operator which recent DBMS versions are providing. For achieving this goal, we designed a relational algebraic expression equivalent to the PIVOT operator and we formally proved their equivalence. Then, we developed a transformation technique for horizontal table queries using the PIVOT operator. We also performed experiments to analyze the performance of the proposed method. From the experimental results, we revealed that the proposed method has better performance than existing methods.
SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) model was calibrated for the flow rate of the Deachung lake with a large area of 3108.29 $km^2$. Application of SWAT model requires significant number of input data and is prone to result in uncertainties due to errors in input data, model structure and model parameters. The SUFI-2 (Sequential Uncertainty Fitting Ver. 2) program and GLUE (Generalized Likelihood Uncertainty Estimation) program in SWAT-CUP (SWAT-Calibration and Uncertainty Program) are used to select the best parameters for SWAT model. Optimal combination of parameter values was determined through 2,000 iterative SWAT model runs. The Nash-Sutcliffe values and $R^2$ values were 0.87 and 0.89 respectively indicating both methods show good agreements with observed data successfully. RMSE and MSE values also showed similar results for both programs. It seems the SWAT-CUP has a great practical appeal for parameter optimization especially for large basin area and it also can be used for less experienced SWAT model users.

Multi-media service has been changed into user based audio services, which service supports actively user's preference and interaction with the users. In the market, multi-media products which can support the highest audio-quality by using lossless audio technology have been released and object audio music which user can select the objects has been serviced. In this paper, we design user's preference information based object audio file format and audio scene description for storage and transmission media. The designed file format is designed based on MPEG-4 file format because high-quality audio codecs in MPEG-4 audio can be easily used and the track of file format can be flexibly controlled depend on the number of the instrument in music. The encoded audio data of each objects and encoded audio scene description by binary encoding that has independent track are packed in a file. The scene description for storage media is consist of full and object scene description, the scene description for transmission media has an essential description for object audio operation and a specific description for real audio sound. The designed file format based simulator is developed and it generates an object audio file with several scene descriptions. Also, the real audio sound is serviced by the interaction with user and the unpacked scene description.
This report describes methods for selecting informative single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), and the development of an online Solanaceae genome database, using 234 tomato resequencing data entries deposited in the NCBI SRA database. The 126 accessions of Solanum lycopersicum, 68 accessions of Solanum lycopersicum var. cerasiforme, and 33 accessions of Solanum pimpinellifolium, which are frequently used for breeding, and some wild-species tomato accessions were included in the analysis. To select tag-SNPs, we identified 29,504,960 SNPs in 234 tomatoes and then separated the SNPs in the genic and intergenic regions according to gene annotation. All tag-SNP were selected from non-synonymous SNPs among the SNPs present in the gene region and, as a result, we obtained tag-SNP from 13,845 genes. When there were no non-synonymous SNPs in the gene, the genes were selected from synonymous SNPs. The total number of tag-SNPs selected was 27,539. To increase the usefulness of the information, a Solanaceae genome database website, TGsol (http://tgsol. seeders.co.kr/), was constructed to allow users to search for detailed information on resources, SNPs, haplotype, and tag-SNPs. The user can search the tag-SNP and flanking sequences for each gene by searching for a gene name or gene position through the genome browser. This website can be used to efficiently search for genes related to traits or to develop molecular markers.

Road roughness, as the key factor influencing not only drivers' ride quality and safety but also pavement deterioration, is one of the most important pavement performance indicator to be evaluated by users' subjective assessment. For this reason, a specific number of the pavement roughness has been adopted to monitor the condition of a road for pavement management systems and to evaluate the quality of newly constructed sections, however, none of the unified methodology was internationally accepted. In Korea highway network, road roughness has been used mainly to evaluate newly placed pavement by using 7.6m CP (California Profile meter) to calculate PrI (Profile Index). But this instrument is manually operated to measure road profiles by traffic closure and their interpretation depends on personal bias. Therefore, problems arisen from the manually operated instrument will be overcome by using the APL (Longitudinal Profile Analyzer) which can be operated in the speed of 80km per hour. A study was conducted to correlate the relation from both concrete and asphalt pavement between IRI (measured by APL) and PrI (measured by 7.6m CP). Test results showed that there was a good correlation between IRI and PrI.
Recently, the number of mobile phone and PDA users has been rapidly increased. Such monitoring and control applications as geographical and traffic information systems are being used widely with wireless devices. In this paper, we introduce the mobile M/VC application framework that supports the rapid constructions of mobile monitoring and control (M/VC) applications. The mobile M/VC application framework uses the mobile Observer/Observable pattern that extends the Java's Observer/Observable for automatic interactions of server and client objects in wireless environments. It also provides the Multiplexer and Demultiplexer classes that supports the assembly feature of Observer and Observable objects. To construct an application using the framework, developers just need to create necessary objects from the Observable and MobileObserver classes and inter-connect them structurally(like the plug-and-play style) through the Multiplexer and Demultiplexer objects. Then, the state change of Observable objects is notified to the connected Observer objects and user's input with Observer objects is propagated to Observable objects. These mechanism is the main process for monitoring and control applications. Therefore, the mobile M/VC application framework can improve the productivity of mobile applications and enhance the reusability of such components as Observer and Observable objects in wireless environments.

In the world, each country is preparing various policies to promote start-ups, and the Korean government is actively promoting policies to support start-ups and the national economy through technology-based start-ups for creating jobs. Recently, the number of start-up companies is on the rise. In particular, in accordance with the industrial structure transformation leading the 4th Industrial Revolution, technology-based start-ups are steadily growing based on knowledge-based services such as information and communication, science and technology service industry, and business support service industry. The purpose of this study is to find out whether the startup space provided by the university reflects the startup-friendly characteristics, and to investigate and analyze the satisfaction and requirements of the space required by the actual college campus startup space users to create a more efficient space configuration plan. Through this study, factors that should be considered first for universities in preparing startup spaces were derived for each space element. Therefore, it is necessary for university campuses to deeply recognize the importance of space provision among the future start-up support systems, and to improve them periodically through the consumers' satisfaction of the space in the construction and improvement of startup spaces.

Realistic and graphics-based virtual reality content is based on 360-degree videos, and viewport extraction through the viewer's intention or automatic recommendation function is essential. This paper designs a viewport extraction system based on multiple object tracking in 360-degree videos and proposes a parallel computing structure necessary for multiple viewport extraction. The viewport extraction process in 360-degree videos is parallelized by composing pixel-wise threads, through 3D spherical surface coordinate transformation from ERP coordinates and 2D coordinate transformation of 3D spherical surface coordinates within the viewport. The proposed structure evaluated the computation time for up to 30 viewport extraction processes in aerial 360-degree video sequences and confirmed up to 5240 times acceleration compared to the CPU-based computation time proportional to the number of viewports. When using high-speed I/O or memory buffers that can reduce ERP frame I/O time, viewport extraction time can be further accelerated by 7.82 times. The proposed parallelized viewport extraction structure can be applied to simultaneous multi-access services for 360-degree videos or virtual reality contents and video summarization services for individual users.
