In this paper, we consider maximum likelihood estimators of normal distribution based on type II censoring. Gupta (1952) and Cohen (1959, 1961) required a table for an auxiliary function to compute since they did not have an explicit form; however, we derive an explicit form for the estimators using a method to approximate the likelihood function. The derived estimators are a special case of Balakrishnan et al. (2003). We compare the estimators with the Gupta's linear estimators through simulation. Gupta's linear estimators are unbiased and easily calculated; subsequently, the proposed estimators have better performance for mean squared errors and variances, although they show bigger biases especially when the ratio of the complete data is small.
A finite element formulation lot the simulation of axisymmetric sheet hydroforming is proposed, and an implicit program is coded. In order to describe normal anisotropy of steel sheet, Hill's non-quadratic yield function (Hill, 1979) is employed. Frictional contacts among sheet surface, rigid tool surface, and flexible hydrostatic pressure are considered using mesh normal vectors based on finite element of the sheet. Applied hydraulic pressure is also considered as a function of forming rate and time and treated as an external loading. The complete set of the governing relations comprising equilibrium and interfacial equations is approximately linearized for Newton-Raphson algorithm. In order to verify the validity of the developed finite element formulation, the axisymmetric bulge test is simulated. Simulation results are compared with other FEM results and experimental measurements and showed good agreements. In axisymmetric hydroforming processes of a disk cover, formability changes are observed according to the hydraulic pressure curve changes.
Since Goetschel and Voxman [5] proposed a linear order on fuzzy numbers, several authors studied the concept of semicontinuity and convexity of fuzzy mappings defined through the order. Since the order is only defined for fuzzy numbers on $\mathbb{R}$, it is natural to find a new order for normal fuzzy sets on $\mathbb{R}^n$ in order to study the concept of semicontinuity and convexity of fuzzy mappings on normal fuzzy sets. In this paper, we introduce a new order "${\preceq}_s$ for normal fuzzy sets on $\mathbb{R}^n$ with respect to the support function. We define the semicontinuity and convexity of fuzzy mappings with this order. Some issues which are related with semicontinuity and convexity of fuzzy mappings will be discussed.
Monte Carlo simulations of hard-spheres confined in parallel hard walls have been carried out extensively at various densities and for various wall distances. The compressibility factors in the directions parallel and normal to the wall have been calculated from the radial free space distribution function (RFSDF) with the results showing that the compressibility factors normal to the wall are smaller than those in parallel direction and that a solid phase is formed in the direction normal to the wall while a fluid phase remains in the parallel direction. An order parameter is found to classify the phases whether a system (or a molecule) is in a fluid or a solid state. The compressibility factors of narrow wall are very small compared to those when the wall is put away. A plausible mechanism of the rise of sap in xylem vessel has been proposed.
In this paper, we formally introduce the notion of a general parametric digamma function Ψ(−s; A, a) and we find the Laurent expansion of Ψ(−s; A, a) at the integers and poles. Considering the contour integrations involving Ψ(−s; A, a), we present some new identities for infinite series involving Dirichlet type parametric harmonic numbers by using the method of residue computation. Then applying these formulas obtained, we establish some explicit relations of parametric linear Euler sums and some special functions (e.g. trigonometric functions, digamma functions, Hurwitz zeta functions etc.). Moreover, some illustrative special cases as well as immediate consequences of the main results are also considered.

Purpose: The problem for the traditional control chart is that it is unable to monitor the very small fraction of nonconforming and the underlying distribution is the normal distribution. $Z_p$ control chart is useful where it controls the vert small fraction on nonconforming. In this study, we will design the $Z_p$ control chart in order to use under non-normal process. Methods: $Z_p$ is calculated not by failure rate based on attribute data but using variable data. Control limit for non-normal $Z_p$ control chart is designed based on ${\alpha}$-risk calculated by cumulative distribution function of Burr distribution. ${\beta}$-risk, which is for performance evaluation, obtains in the Burr distribution's cumulative distribution function and control limit. Results: The control limit for non-normal $Z_p$ control chart is designed based on Burr distribution. The sensitivity can be checked through ARL table and OC curve. Conclusion: Non-normal $Z_p$ control chart is able to control not only the very small fraction of nonconforming, but it is also useful when $Z_p$ distribution is non-normal distribution.
Syntenin is an adaptor molecule containing 2 PDZ domains which mediate molecular interactions with diverse integral or cytoplasmic proteins. Most of the results on the biological function of syntenin were obtained from studies with malignant cells, necessitating exploration into the role of syntenin in normal cells. To understand its role in normal cells, we investigated expression and function of syntenin in human lymphoid tissue and cells in situ and in vitro. Syntenin expression was denser in the germinal center than in the extrafollicular area. Inside the germinal center, syntenin expression was obvious in follicular dendritic cells (FDCs). Flow cytometric analysis with isolated cells confirmed a weak expression of syntenin in T and B cells and a strong expression in FDCs. In FDC-like cells, HK cells, most syntenin proteins were found in the cytoplasm compared to weak expression in the nucleus. To study the function of syntenin in FDC, we examined its role in the focal adhesion of HK cells by depleting syntenin by siRNA technology. Knockdown of syntenin markedly impaired focal adhesion kinase phosphorylation in HK cells. These results suggest that syntenin may play an important role in normal physiology as well as in cancer pathology.

Reinke's edema is used for describing varying degrees of chronic swelling of the vocal folds. The acoustic analysis of Reinke's edema has not been reported so far in this country. The purpose of this study is to clarify acoustic and aerodynamic characteristics of the Reinke's edema. Several acoustic evaluations & aerodynamic studies were done in 20 Reinke's edema patients and the data was compared with those of 20 normal controls. Videolaryngoscopy also was done to classify the severity in grading. We used C-Speech, Doctor speech science, and Phonatory function analyser. In C-Speech, we compared jitter, shimmer, and SNR(signal to noise ratio) of normal and Rrinke's edema patient. In Doctor speech science, we compared NNE(Glottal noise energy), speech fundamental frequency, voice quality between two groups. And in phonatory function analyser for aerodynamic function test, we compared speech intensity, airflow rate, and expiratory pressure between two groups. In conclusion, Reinke's edema patients showed lower voice pitches than normal, additionally jitter, shimmer, SNR(signal to noise ratio), NNE(Glottal noise energy), airflow rate, and expiratory pressure may be meaningful parameters for diagnosis and prognosis for treatment.

Few samples face recognition has become a highly challenging task due to the limitation of available labeled samples. As two popular paradigms in face image representation, sparse component analysis is highly robust while parts-based paradigm is particularly flexible. In this paper, we propose a probabilistic generative model to incorporate the strengths of the two paradigms for face representation. This model finds a common spatial partition for given images and simultaneously learns a sparse component analysis model for each part of the partition. The two procedures are built into a probabilistic generative model. Then we derive the score function (i.e. feature mapping) from the generative score space. A similarity measure is defined over the derived score function for few samples face recognition. This model is driven by data and specifically good at representing face images. The derived generative score function and similarity measure encode information hidden in the data distribution. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, we perform few samples face recognition on two face datasets. The results show its advantages.
In this study, oral sensory function in the osseointegrated root form implant-supported prostheses wearers was estimated by measuring occlusal tactile perception threshold of thickness and sensibility threshold against lateral static loading, and comparing with normal dentition subjects and complete denture wearers group. Osseointegrated root form implants seemed to be restored in the sensation to some extent, and so, dental implants restored edentulous patients in a wide meaning. Conclusions were summarized as following. 1. Occlusal tactile perception threshold of thickness was highest in complete denture wearers group, following by implant-supported prostheses wearers group, normal dentition subjects group. 2. In the implant-supported prostheses wearers group, occlusal tactile perception threshold of opposing artificial teeth case was higher than of opposing natural or opposing implantsupported teeth case. 3. Sensibility threshold against lateral loading of complete denture wearers and implantsupported prostheses wearers group was higher than that of normal dentition subject group. 4. In the implant-supported prostheses group, sensibility threshold against lateral loading was not significantly different between upper and lower jaws. 5. In occlusal tactile perception threshold of thickness and sensibility threshold against lateral loading test, there was no regularity among values of each tooth, and no significant difference between anterior and posterior teeth as well.
