  • In this paper we propose a new controller design method using hybrid fuzzy-neural netowrk and neural network identification in order ot control systems which are more and more getting nonlinearity. Proposed method performs, for a nonlinear plant with unknown functions, hybird identification using a fuzzy-neural network and a neural network, and then a stable nonlinear controller is designed with those identified informations. To identify a nonlinear function, which is directly related to input signals, we can use a neural network which is satisfied with the proposed stable condition. To identify a nonlinear function, which is not directly related to input signals, we can use a fuzzy-neural network which has excellent identification characteristics. In order to verify excellent control performances of the proposed method, we compare the porposed control method with a conventional neural network control method through simulations and experiments with one link manipulator.

  • The main focus of this paper is on the study of voltage-current characteristics in disk-type siliconcarbide resistors. For each of the 15 different sintering and other process conditions, 10 samples were prepared. Experiments performed with each sample consist of supplying sinusoidal AC current of a few miliamperes after conditioning-shots with 400ma. Experimental data were examined with regard to the relationship between the process conditions and the nonlinear resistivity. The examination suggests several possibilities of improving the nonlinlinear characteristics of siliconcarbide resistors while maintaining low resitance. One of those possible conditions is to sinter the powdered SiC and the binding materials approximately 2 hours in nitrogen. In addition to describing the nonlinear characteristics of siliconcarbide resistors, this paper also presents the distortion characteristics of current waves vs. the nonlinear exponent, n. Photographical results show that the more nonlinear characteristics samples have, the more distorted current waves are.

  • In this paper, the nonlinear control of high precision pointing stabilization system using feedback-linearization design methodology based on system parameter identification is discussed. Modern nonlinear servomechanism theory is adapted to cope with the hard nonlinearities inherent in the turret system. The mathematical models of electrical turret driving system to develop a high performance control algorithm are derived, and the parameter estimation algorithm identifying the unknown system parameters such as vicious and coulomb frictions, stiffness and inertia is developed. Through computer simulation and experiments, it is shown that pointing and tracking accuracy and stabilization against the wideband stochastic disturbance induced by vehicle running on the bump course are improved. Therefore, it is considered the proposed nonlinear control technique is effective in counteracting the nonlinearities and disturbances.

  • In this paper, we propose a nonlinear maximum average correlation height (MACH) filter for information authentication of photon counting double random phase encryption (DRPE). To enhance the security of DRPE, photon counting imaging can be applied because of its sparseness. However, under severely photon-starved conditions, information authentication of DRPE may not be implemented successfully. To visualize the photon counting DRPE, a three-dimensional imaging technique such as integral imaging can be used. In addition, a nonlinear MACH filter can be utilized for helping the information authentication. Therefore, in this paper, we use integral imaging and nonlinear MACH filter to implement the information authentication of photon counting DRPE. To verify our method, we implement optical experiments and computer simulation.

  • A Controlled neural networks are proposed in order to measure nonlinear environments in adaptive and in realtime. The structure of it is similar to recurrent neural networks: a delayed output as the input and a delayed error between tile output of plant and neural networks as a bias input. In addition, we compute the desired value of hidden layer by an optimal method instead of transfering desired values by backpropagation and each weights are updated by RLS(Recursive Least Square). Consequently, this neural networks are not sensitive to initial weights and a learning rate, and have a faster convergence rate than conventional neural networks. This new neural networks is Error Estimated Neural Networks. We can estimate nonlinear models in realtime by the proposed networks and control nonlinear models. To show the performance of this one, we have various experiments. And this controller call prove effectively to be control in the environments of various systems.

  • A position tracking control schemes on the precise mechanical system in presence of nonlinear dynamic friction is proposed. A nonlinear dynamic friction is regarded as the bristle friction model to compensate effects of friction. The conventional sliding mode controller often has been used as a non-model-based friction controller, but it has a poor tracking performance in high-precision position tracking application since it completely cannot compensate the friction effect below a certain precision level. Thus to improve the precise position tracking performance, we propose the sliding mode control method combined with the friction-model-based observer having tunable structure of the transient response. Then this control scheme has a good transient response as well as the high precise tracking performance compared with the conventional sliding mode control without observer and the control system with similar type of observer. The experiments on the bali-screw drive table with the nonlinear dynamic friction show the feasibility of the proposed control scheme.

  • The nonlinear characteristics of a suspension is directly related to the ride quality of a passenger car. In this study, the nonlinear characteristics of a spring and a damper of a passenger car is analyzed by dynamic experiments using the MTS single-axial testing machine. Also, a mathematical nonlinear dynamic model for the suspension is devised to estimate the ride quality using the K factor. And the effect on the variation of the parameters of the suspension is examined. The results showed that the dynamic viscosity of the oil in a damper was the parameter that most influeced the ride quality of a passenger car for the ride quality of a passenger car.

  • Based on a two-degree of freedom vehicle model, this paper investigates ride comfort for a heavy off-road vehicle mounted a nonlinear hydropneumatic spring, which is influenced by nonlinear stiffness and damping characteristics of the hydropneumatic spring. Especially, the damping force is derived by applying H. Blasius formula in modeling process according to the real physical structure of the hydropneumatic spring, and the established model of nonlinear stiffness characteristics have been validated by experiments. Furthermore, the effects of parameter variations of the hydropneumatic spring, such as initial charge pressure and damping coefficient, on body acceleration, suspension deflection and dynamic tire deflection are also investigated.

  • In this paper, computational analysis and experiments of subwoofer for car audio speaker system were performed and discussed to analyze acoustical phenomena for subwoofer. Ported enclosure system with subwoofer were manufactured and provided for test and simulation purposes. Subwoofer with single voice coil and double voice coil were identified by linear and nonlinear parameter identification method for loudspeaker parameters. For high power inputs to subwoofer, sound pressure levels were compared according to input powers with linear and nonlinear loudspeaker models. For subwoofer system with high power nonlinear speaker model was showed to be adequate to describe the behaviour of loudspeaker.

  • We investigate the influence of nonlinear viscoelastic damping on the response of a cantilever sensor covered by piezoelectric layers in a symmetric or asymmetric configuration. We formulate an initial-boundary-value problem which consistently incorporates both geometric and material nonlinearities including the effect of viscoelastic damping which cannot be ignored for micro- and nano-mechanical sensor operation in a vacuum environment. We employ an asymptotic multiple-scales methodology to yield the system nonlinear frequency response near its primary resonance and employ a model-based estimation procedure to deduce the system damping backone curve from controlled experiments in vacuum. We discuss the effect of nonlinear damping on sensor applications for scanning probe microscopy.
