This papers describes a nonlinear transfer function modelling of designed GaAs FET power amplifier by measured and simulated values of designed PA amplifier for multicarrier transmission system, With the results of PA nonlinearity characteristic, we can estimates AMAM and AMPM of designed PA. According to the estimated nonlinear characteristics, we can analysis the ACPR of PA for spectral regrowth, the error vector measurement(EVM) of constallation signals and bit error rate of QPSK and 64QAM. The suggested nonlinear modelling results are used to get an accurate estimate of digital characteristics between PA amplifier and wireless multicarrier transmission system using OFDM.

New digital predistortion technique is proposed for power amplifier linearization in multi-band transmission systems. We consider a system where muli-band signals are combined and amplified by a single power amplifier (PA). In this system, the PA output is distorted by the nonlinear cross-products between different band signals as well as their own nonlinear self-products. To compensate these nonlinear effects, we propose a multiple PD structure. Each PD removes the nonlinear cross-products and self-products to mitigate the spectral regrowth for the corresponding band. Since the PD parameters for different bands are linked together, it is difficult to find the PD parameters separately. Thus, we propose an iterative method for finding the PD parameters jointly. For demonstration of the proposed method, multi-band characteristics of PA are extracted from a commercial power amplifier. Computer simulation was executed based on the PA parameters. The simulation results show that the proposed method can effectively linearize the PA and remove spectral regrowth at each signal band.

In this paper, we propose a novel equalizer to compensate for the group delay including AM/PM nonlinear distortion characteristics by the nonlinear power amplifier (PA). The group delay characteristic is a nonlinear non-constant time delay that appears differently depending on each frequency component. The phase distortion by AM/PM characteristics arising from the power amplifier is a major factor to increase group delay. By the group delay distortion, the signal in the constellation expands and is rotated. Considering the problem mentioned above, the nonlinear time delay that appears differently depending on each frequency component is classified as a static group delay and AM/PM characteristic of PA, the different phase transitions depending on the size of input signal as a dynamic group delay. Static group delay estimates and compensate for phase distortions in the frequency domain with type-based method and dynamic group delay compensates for phase rotation in the time domain. We confirmed that the group delay compensation techniques were enough to compensate the group delay characteristics including AM/PM characteristics of the power amplifier.

A linear stacked field-effect transistor (FET) power amplifier (PA) is implemented using a $0.18-{\mu}m$ silicon-on-insulator CMOS process for W-CDMA handset applications. Phase distortion by the nonlinear gate-source capacitance ($C_{gs}$) of the common-source transistor, which is one of the major nonlinear sources for intermodulation distortion, is compensated by employing a PMOS linearizer with improved AM-PM. The linearizer is used at the gate of the driver-stage instead of main-stage transistor, thereby avoiding excessive capacitance loading while compensating the AM-PM distortions of both stages. The fabricated 836.5 MHz linear PA module shows an adjacent channel leakage ratio better than -40 dBc up to the rated linear output power of 27.1 dBm, and power-added efficiency of 45.6% at 27.1 dBm without digital pre-distortion.

This paper represents the effects of drain bias on the linearity and efficiency of an analog pre-distortion power amplifier(PA) for wideband code division multiple access(WCDMA) repeater applications. For verification, an analog predistorter(APD) with three-branch nonlinear paths for memory-effect compensation is implemented and a class-AB PA is fabricated using a 30-W Si LOMaS. From the measured results, at an average output power of 33 dBm(lO-dB back-off power), the PA with APD shows the adjacent channel leakage ratio(ACLR, ${\pm}$5 MHz offset) of below -45.1 dBc, with a drain efficiency of 24 % at the drain bias voltage($V_{DD}$) of 18 V. This compared an ACLR of -36.7 dEc and drain efficiency of 14.1 % at the $V_{DD}$ of 28 V for a PA without APD.

In this paper, a novel analysis on the nonlinear response of a power amplifier (PA) with the intermodulation distortion (IMD) asymmetry is proposed based on the mutislice behavioral model. The coefficients of the odd-order and even-order polynomial of that model are represented with the PA practical circuit parameters such as intercept points, gain and amplitudes of excitation inputs. We also develop the analytic expressions to distinguish baseband frequency effect from second harmonic effect on the IMD asymmetry. We also validate the derived analytic expressions through measurements.

A simple low-cost and small size 1.88-198 GHz Band RF power amplifier module is developed for IMT2000 repeater. The power amplifier consists of two stage amplifiers that the first stage amplifier is drive amplifier using discrete type P-HEMT (ATF-34143, 800 micron gate width, Agilent Technologies) and the second is power amplifier with 300Bm 1dB gain compression point using GaAs FET(EFA240D-SOT89, 2400 micron gate width, Excelics Semiconductor). this power amplifier module feature a 29.5dBm 1dB gain compression point, 29.5dB gain, 42dBm 3rd order intercept point(OIP3) and -10dB/-l2dB input/output return loss over the 1880-1980 MHz. This PA module is fully integrated using MIC technology into a small size and design by full nonlinear design technologies. The dimensions of this PA module are 42(L) $\times$ 34(W) mm.

In this paper, we suggest a scheme to develop an efficient discrete nonlinear model based on polynomial structure for a RF power amplifier(PA). We describe a procedure to extract a discrete nonlinear model such as Taylor series or memory polynomial by sampling the input and output signal of RF PA. The performance of the model is analyzed varying the model parameters such as sample rate, nonlinear order, and memory depth. The results show that the relative error of the model is converged if the parameters are larger than specific values. We suggest an efficient modeling scheme considering complexity of the discrete model depending on the values of the model parameters. Modeling efficiency index(MEI) is defined, and it is used to extract optimum values for the model parameters. The suggested scheme is applied to discrete modeling of various RF PAs with various input signals such as WCDMA, WiBro, etc. The suggested scheme can be applied to the efficient design of digital predistorter for the wideband transmitter.

A new digital pre-distortion technique to linearize power amplifier (PA) is proposed for concurrent dual-band transmitters. In the conventional dual-band DPD techniques, two independent dual-feedback paths are required to compensate nonlinear cross-products between different bands as well as the nonlinear self-products of each band's own signal. However, it increases hardware complexity and expense. In this paper, we propose a new DPD method requiring only a single feedback path. In this new structure, the proposed technique first estimates the dual-band PA characteristics using the single feedback path. The DPD parameters are then extracted from the estimated PA characteristics. The DPD performance of the proposed method is validated through computer simulation. According to the results, the proposed technique can achieve comparable performance to the conventional two feedback DPD with significantly reduced hardware complexity.

In this paper, it is required that the next generation wireless transmission system can support a large number of users without distortion of transmission signal with high data rate in various different propagation environment while using limited resources as efficiently as possible, and therefore an efficient transmission system is continuously required. Because of the large amount of data to be handled in a limited frequency band, a very complex digital modulation scheme is adopted. the linearity of the power amplifier determines the linearity of the entire communication system, and thus a linear amplifier is required. In cognitive radion systems, there is a power control issue in the relationship between primary and secondary users. This problem is solved by simulating the communication system so as to select the cognitive radio power while power control while overcoming linearity by using feed-forward PA.
