The mechanical properties and microstructure evolution of Mg-8Li-3Al-1Y alloy undergoing different rolling processes were systematically investigated. X-ray diffraction, optical microscope, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy as well as electron backscattered diffraction were used for tracking the microstructure evolution. Tensile testing was employed to characterize the mechanical properties. After hot rolling, the $MgLi_2Al$ precipitated in ${\beta}-Li$ matrix due to the transformation reaction: ${\beta}-Li{\rightarrow}{\beta}-Li+MgLi_2Al+{\alpha}-Mg$. As for the alloy subjected to annealed hot rolling, ${\beta}-Li$ phase was clearly recrystallized while recrystallization rarely occurred in ${\alpha}-Mg$ phase. With regard to the microstructure undergoing cold rolling, plenty of dislocations and dislocation walls were easily observed. In addition, the microstructure of alloys subjected to annealed cold rolling revealed the formation of new fresh ${\alpha}-Mg$ grains in ${\beta}-Li$ phase due to the precipitation reaction. The mechanical properties and fracture modes of Mg-8Li-3Al-1Y alloys can be effectively tuned by different rolling processes.
The utilization of incineration ash from municipal waste must be promoted to solve the social problem on the shortage of final disposal site. In this research, metals should be recovered to avoid the damage of the crushing machine during the utilization of incineration ash in cement industry. In fact, incineration bottom ash from municipal waste contains iron in 3-5%. Nonferrous metal and stainless steel in 1% is also included. The research and development on the physical recovery process was performed not only to remove the metals but also to recover high grade products. Metals were separated from incineration ash in Maruya Co. Ltd.. In fact, iron scrap recovered by magnetic separation can be selled. After that, mixed metal was separated from incineration ash using screen. In this research, mixed metal tried to divided copper, aluminum, brass and stainless steel using drum type magnetic separation, eddy current separation and high magnetic separation. As a result, recovered iron had an 80% for the grade. Aluminum was recovered by eddy current separation without copper and brass.
This paper presents the hardness and wear characteristic of bronze metals, which are manufactured by a sintering process with a high pressuring technology. A bronze metal with a high hardness and anti-wear properties is usually used for a high pressure cylinder and a pin-bush bearing. The new bronze metal in which is manufactured for this experimental study shows very high hardness of 192${\sim}$220 Hv compared with that of a conventional bronze metal of 120${\sim}$140 Hv. The high hardness of new bronze metals is strongly related to the radical reduction of wear volumes and an improved surface roughness of operated worn surfaces. As explained by previous many research works, the improved hardness of nonferrous metals may increase a load-carrying capacity and anti-wear properties of tribological components.
A variational formulation and the associated finite elemet equations have been derived for general three-dimensional deformation of a planar anisotropic rigid-plastic sheet metal which obeys the strain-rate potential proposed by BARLAT et al [13]. By using the natural convected coordinate system, the effect of geometric change and the rotation of planar anisotropic axes are considered efficiently. In order to check the validity of present formulation, a cylindrical cup and a square cup deep drawing test was modeled. good agreement was found between the FE simulation and the experiment. The results have shown that the present formulation for planar anisotropic deformation can be efficiently applied to the analysis of sheet metal working processes for planar anisotropic nonferrous metals.
Size-segregated measurements of aerosol composition are used to estimate the transport of natural and anthropogenic aerosols at Gosan site during May 2002. The results of measurement show that not only soil dust but also anthropogenic aerosols, including sulfur and enriched trace metals such as Pb, Zn, Cu, are transported to Gosan. This study combines the size- and time-resolved aerosol composition measurements with factor analysis in order to identify some source materials. As a result, coarse particles (2.5${\mu}m$~12${\mu}m$) are influenced by soil, sea-salt, coal, coal combustion, and nonferrous sources. But fine particles have different sources. The fine particles, which the diameter is from 0.56${\mu}m$ to 2.5${\mu}m$, are more affected by road dust, oil combustion, industry. municipal incineration, and ferrous metal sources. The very fine particles, from 0.09${\mu}m$ to 0.56${\mu}m$, mainly supplied by biomass burning, oil combustion, nonferrous and ferrous metal sources.
To characterize the elemental composition of fine particles in urban area, $PM_{2.5}$ was collected by a 3-stage DRUM impactor at Gwangju during spring and summer. Time and size resolved concentrations for 19 trace elements were obtained by synchrotron X-Ray fluorescence analysis. Trace elements in summer were distributed in smaller size range compared to those in spring. Almost trace element concentrations in fine particles were highly increased during the Asian dust. In spring, soil elements such as Si, K, Ca, Ti and Fe had low enrichment factors indicating the dominant influence of soil dust. However, all elements had high enrichment factors in summer implying that these elements could be emitted from the anthropogenic sources. Factor analysis was conducted with the elemental composition data in order to identify anthropogenic sources of aerosols in urban area during spring and summer. Fine particles in spring have several sources such as soil dust originating from China continental region, coal and oil combustion, biomass burning, sea salt, ferrous and nonferrous metal sources. On the other hand, fine particles in summer were influenced by road dust, gasoline vehicle as well as coal and oil combustion, sea salt, ferrous and nonferrous metal sources.

Effects of magnetic field and carrier gas velocity on the magnetic separation of FCC catalyst by a high gradient magnetic separator were studied. The activities of the equilibrium catalyst, the magnetic particles and the nonmagnetic particles were evaluated in a fixed bed microreactor The results showed that heavy metal contaminated catalyst can be selectively separated by means of high gradient magnetic separation at magnetic field 0.5T and carrier gas velocity 0.3m.s$^{-1}$ , and lightly metal contaminated catalyst retained high catalytic activity.
