Analysis of Security Threats and Air Interface Traffic Performance for IMT-2000 Mobile Systems (IMT-2000 시스템의 보안 위협요소 분석 및 이의 적용에 따른 무선링크 트래픽 분석)

  • IMT-2000 mobile system will provide many application services such as mobile internet, wireless electronics commerce applications using air interface with high data rate. These applications require high data integrity, data confidentiality, user authentication, user identity confidentiality and non-repudiation. In this study, we analyze new security threats and air interface traffic performance for IMT-2000 mobile systems. Signal traffic for network access security services requires 0.2kbps~4.5kbps with the conditions of 246~768bits/massage, 0.2~1.0 basic services/sec and the security services of the rate 0.2~1.0 times compared with basic services.

  • As the development of information telecommunication technology and thus the information sharing and opening is accelerated, If system is exposed to various threatener and the avrious security incident is rasing its head with social problem. As countermeasure, to protect safely and prepare in the attack for a system from a be latent security threat, various security systems are been using such as IDS, Firewall, VPN etc.. But, expertise or expert is required to handle security system. The module, implemented in this paper, is based on Windows XP, like Linux and Unix, and has effect integrity and non-repudiation for a file.

  • Multi-signcryption scheme is an extension of signcryption scheme for multi-signers performing together the signcryption operation on messages, and it provides useful cryptographic functions such as confidentiality and authenticity for the sound circulation of messages through the Internet. In this paper, we show the weaknesses of the previous multi-signcryption schemes. And then we propose a new multi-signcryption scheme that improves the weaknesses and the efficiency of the previous schemes. Our scheme efficiently provides message flexibility, order flexibility, message verifiability, order verifiability, message confidentiality, message unforgeability, non-repudiation and robustness. Therefore, it is suitable for protecting messages and multi-signers from malicious attacks in the Internet.

  • Nowadays, all over the world's banks use internet banking through various authentication methods. Although there are strong authentication methods using OTP (One Time Password), there still has vulnerability from sophisticated attacks such as MITM (Man In The Middle). This letter proposes signing-based authentication protocol that copes with attacks, such as MITB (Man In The Browser), and provides non-repudiation function. The protocol shows generic method to prevent the sophisticated attacks through connecting advantages from OTP and PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) certificate, and that can be deployed to various extended form in internet banking.

AC4E: An Access Control Model for Emergencies of Mission-Critical Cyber-Physical Systems

  • Access control is an essential security component in protecting sensitive data and services from unauthorized access to the resources in mission-critical Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs). CPSs are different from conventional information processing systems in such that they involve interactions between the cyber world and the physical world. Therefore, existing access control models cannot be used directly and even become disabled in an emergency situation. This paper proposes an adaptive Access Control model for Emergences (AC4E) for mission-critical CPSs. The principal aim of AC4E is to control the criticalities in these systems by executing corresponding responsive actions. AC4E not only provides the ability to control access to data and services in normal situations, but also grants the correct set of access privileges, at the correct time, to the correct set of subjects in emergency situations. It can facilitate adaptively responsive actions altering the privileges to specific subjects in a proactive manner without the need for any explicit access requests. A semiformal validation of the AC4E model is presented, with respect to responsiveness, correctness, safety, non-repudiation and concurrency, respectively. Then a case study is given to demonstrate how the AC4E model detects, responds, and controls the emergency events for a typical CPS adaptively in a proactive manner. Eventually, a wide set of simulations and performance comparisons of the proposed AC4E model are presented.

  • With the rapid development of mobile technology the use of smartphone is spreading. In order to activate mobile banking and market in the future, the most important key is a secure financial transactoin. However, because many apps are developed without security check in proportional to the spread of smartphone, security threat is inevitably high. Current smartphone banking is processed as the way of the existing public certificate or OTP technique in the mobile environment, but many security hole about current technology is pointed out steadily. Therefore, in this paper we are to improve a existing security hole by reinforcing the security through multi-factor authentication and providing a physical non-repudiation.

  • XML is the most common tool for data processing and data transmission in web applications. Policies are extensively used in all online business solutions and it is recognized that abinary decision such as 'yes/no' for access requests is not enough. In this paper, a method is developed to convert policy rules with provisions and obligations in logic formula formats into XML formats. The primary purpose is to enable security policy programmers to write flexible authorization policies in XML and to implement them easily. General syntaxes are defined to specify information for users, objects and actions in XML formats and an XML DTD is developed to specify authorization rules with these three components. To support various security features such as data transcoding and non-repudiation depending on data in addition to access control based on authorization policies, studies for specifying them in XML policy rules will be performed in the future.

  • Recently, various threat and security incident are occurred for unspecified individuals, and this problem increases as the rapid of information sharing through Internet. The using of Information Security System such as IDS, Firewall, VPN etc. makes this problem minimal. However, professional knowledge or skill is needed in that case, normal user can't operate the Information Security System. This paper designs and implements File Access Control Module(FACM) to use easily for normal user against malicious threats and attacks. The FACM can exclude from malicious threats and attacks based on operation system rather than detection of threats and attacks. The FACM is working not only Windows System but also Linux System, and the FACM has effect on access control, integrity and non-repudiation for a file with an access control over files on the each OS that are used by multi-user.
