This paper presents the pipeline architecture for the low and column address generator of 2D DCT/IDCT(Discrete Cosine Transform/Inverse Discrete Cosine Transform). For the real time process of image data, it is required that high speed operation and small size hardware In the proposed architecture, the area of hardware is reduced by using the DA(distributed arithmetic) method and applying the concepts of pipeline on the parallel architecture. As a results, the designed pipeline of the low and column address generator for 2D DCT/IDCT architecture is implemented with an efficiency and high speed compared as the non-pipeline architecture. And the operation speed is improved about 50% up. The design for the proposed pipeline architecture of DCT/IDCT is coded using VHDL.
Computational thinking refers to the process and method of solving everyday problems using computers. When teaching a computational thinking class for computer majors and non-majors at university, the easiest example to deliver the concept of computational thinking is sorting. Sorting is the concept of arranging given data in order. In this work, we have implemented four visualized sorting algorithms that anyone can easily use. In particular, it helps to understand the difference between the algorithms by showing the number of comparisons and exchanges between elements, which are the criteria for evaluating the performance of the sorting algorithm in real time. It was confirmed that the practice of using the sorting visualization app developed in this research contributed to the improvement of students' understanding of computational thinking.

In this paper, we will introduce the image processing methods for the remote pupillary light reflex measurement using the video taken by a general smartphone camera without a special device such as an infrared camera. We propose an algorithm for estimate the size of the pupil that changes with light using image data analysis without a learning process. In addition, we will introduce the results of visualizing the change in the pupil size by removing noise from the recorded data of the pupil size measured for each frame of the video. We expect that this study will contribute to the construction of an objective indicator for remote pupillary light reflex measurement in the situation where non-face-to-face communication has become common due to COVID-19 and the demand for remote diagnosis is increasing.
The discharges of time, technology and finance was increased and it was difficult to use water resources effectively by serious water pollutions. Thus the main aim of this work was focused on effectiveness of water treatment process using non-controlled indicators such as UV absorbance($E_{260}$) and particle counts that provided analytical results with simple and rapid. The soluble aluminum was increased by the increase of aluminum doses for turbidity removals It means that the water quality was not controlled by only turbidity monitoring cause maximum turbidity removal did not guarantee minimum residual aluminum in an aluminum-based coagulation. E removal efficiency appeared to be the promising indicator for monitoring the effectiveness of the water quality process such as coagulation and nanofiltration membranes for arsenic(V). On the basis of the particle monitoring, it was also found that the particle counts could be used very useful for changing the coagulants in real water treatments.

Based on the trend, there have been numerous researches analysing the ship collision risk. However, in this scope, the navigational conditions and external environment are ignored or incompletely considered in training or/and real situation. It has been identified as a significant limitation in the navigational collision risk assessment. Therefore, a novel algorithm of the ship navigational collision risk solving system has been proposed based on basic collision risk and vulnerabilities of marine accidents. The vulnerability can increase the possibility of marine collision accidents. The factors of vulnerabilities including bad weather, tidal currents, accidents prone area, traffic congestion, operator fatigue and fishing boat operating area are involved in the fuzzy reasoning engines to evaluate the navigational conditions and environment. Fuzzy logic is employed to reason basic collision risk using Distance to Closest Point of Approach (DCPA) and Time of Closest Point of Approach (TCPA) and the degree of vulnerability in the specific coastal waterways. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method is used to obtain the integration of vulnerabilities. In this paper, vulnerability factors have been proposed to improve the collision risk assessment especially for non-SOLAS ships such as coastal operating ships and fishing vessels in practice. Simulation is implemented to validate the practicability of the designed navigational collision risk solving system.

This study is to develop a non-contact construction project management solution that can reduce cost and construction period through on-site information sharing, minimizing contact with others by COVID19, and improving the productivity of the construction industry. Decisions, checklists, and execution rates of construction costs can be checked with smart devices through sharing on-site photos and videos, exchanging opinions. Details and checklist data stored on cloud servers of sites that apply non-face-to-face construction project management solutions will be used as data for analyzing amounts and construction periods depending on the size of the construction. Real-time field information sharing will reduce expected problems and waste factors, expand communication channels with users to prevent or minimize construction disputes and claims, and contribute to the expansion and growth of new research industry markets in construction technology.

This paper presents the design results of a Multi-band Global Positioning System (GPS)/Korean Positioning System (KPS) Real-Time Kinematics (RTK) precise positioning simulator and evaluate its functionalities. The designed simulator consists of a trajectory generation module, a Radio Frequency (RF) signal generation module, a RF signal reception module, a coarse positioning module, a precise positioning module, and an error statistics reporting module. Simulations in realistic scenarios confirm that the proposed baseband simulator works appropriately. The developed simulator can adjust the type, number, band, and Pseudo Random Noise (PRN) code type of the satellite constellation in various ways, and the practical positioning performance can be tested. It can also reflect the channel influence at the actual RF stage and the influence during the initial synchronization and tracking process. Considering such advantages, the proposed simulator would be useful in future researches and developments related to KPS.
Selection or generation of appropriate input ground motion is very important in performing a dynamic analysis. In Korea, it is a common practice to use recorded strong ground motions or artificial motions. The recorded motions show non-stationary characteristics, which is a distinct property of all earthquake motions, but have the problem of not matching the design response spectrum. The artificial motions match the design spectrum, but show stationary characteristics. This study generated ground motions that preserve the non-stationary characteristics of a real earthquake motion, but also matches the design spectrum. In the process, an impulse function-based algorithm that adjusts a given time series in time domain such that it matches the target response spectrum is used. Application of the algorithm showed that it can successfully adjust any recorded motions to match the target spectrum and also preserve the non-stationary characteristics. The modified motions are used to perform a series of nonlinear site response analyses. It is shown that the results using the adjusted motions result in more reliable estimates of ground vibration. It is thus recommended that the newly adjusted motions be used in practice instead of original recorded motions.
We present an effective and real-time face detection method based on Principal Component Analysis(PCA) and Support Vector Machines(SVMs). We extract simple Haar-like features from training images that consist of face and non-face images, reinterpret the features with PCA, and select useful ones from the large number of extracted features. With the selected features, we construct a face detector using an SVM appropriate for binary classification. The face detector is not affected by the size of a training data set in a significant way, so that it showed 90.1 % detection rates with a small quantity of training data. it can process 8 frames per second for $320{\times}240$ pixel images. This is an acceptable processing time for a real-time system.

This paper deals with the realization of multi-channel live karaoke. In this study, 6-channel MP3 decoding and tempo/key scaling was operated in real time by using the TMS320C6713 DSP, which is 32 bit floating-point DSP made by TI Co. The 6 channel consists of front L/R instrument, rear L/R instrument, melody, and woofer. In case of the 4 channel, rear L/R instrument can be replaced with drum L/R channel. And the final output data is generated as adjusted to a 5.1 channel speaker. The SOLA algorithm was applied for tempo scaling, and key scaling was done with interpolation and decimation in the time domain. Drum channel was excluded in key scaling by separating instruments into drums and non-drums, and in processing SOLA, high-quality tempo scaling was made possible by differentiating SOLA frame size, which was optimized for real-time process. The use of 6 channels allows the composition of various channels, and the multi-channel audio system of this study can be effectively applied at any place where live music is needed.
