  • In recent years, public complaints against railroad noise by KTX and Ordinary train have been rising. Regulation of railways noise uses same standard without distinguishing the type of railroad cars. According to the type of railroad cars, the frequency characteristics of emitting noise is different. Therefore it is requested to know how the public response vary to each types of railroad cars. The noise annoyance from three types of trains(KTX, electric train, diesel train) was analyzed by jury evaluation test for assessing the effect of frequency characteristics. The numerical results by a semantic differential method showed that annoyance response to three type of trains depended on the frequency characteristics. As a result, this study proposed that the KTX could have a bonus level of maximum 2.9 dB(A) compared to ordinary train.

  • This Study introduces the design of a reactive type silencer for reducing impulse noises emitted from a high voltage COS fuse of a transformer. When a high voltage COS fuse becomes a short circuit by the over current, the peak sound pressure level above 150dB(A) is generated at the distance of 2m from a COS Fuse. For the purpose of the reduction of impulse noise, in this study. the reactive type silencers have been utilized. The performance of noise reduction for them can be expressed by insertion loss. The reactive silencers have been tested for 23 different types with each different porosity, hole diameter and depth. From the experimental results, it is found that the reactive silencer has an excellent performance to greatly suppress the impulse noise. The one-stage, two-stage and three-stage reactive type silencers have been shown to have the insertion losses of about from 35dB (A) to 25dB(A).

  • Noise and vibration are likely to disturb the sensory system of human body leading to psychological stress and thereby property damage. In this research, a cut out switch(COS) with a built-in acoustic absorber along with a COS fuse broken was developed to reduce percussion noise. This new system is based on a design approach that combines existing absorber systems: expansion type, resonator type, and acoustic absorber type silencer The noise performance of the new system was simulated using the $SYSNOISE^{TM}$ software under optimized parameters: the diameter of perforated plate 2 mm, the plate thickness 3 mm, the width of expansion room 25 mm, the impinging vortex room 14 mm, and the noise absorbtion room 10 mm. The results showed that it reduced noise by approximately 41.1 dB compared to the current systems available in the market. Furthermore, it showed reduced noise by approximately 12 dB more than a product with an acoustic absorber of the Fault Tamer(USA).

  • The SeoulMerto, operating subway line No.$1{\sim}4$, was constructed in the metropolitan Seoul with the highest population. When it was built, the design was challenged to sharp curved tracks considering the protection of buildings, cultural assets, the connection to ground roads and rivers as well as to elevated railway in some parts. Lots of residential apartments and business complex have gradually increased in the area around subway stations and railway lines according to the urban development. Consequently, Requirements of better quality of life and comfortable environment caused the citizen complain for the noise. It has become one of serious social issues. In this paper, Noise level was analyzed using noise map measured in the running train of all routes. The analysis on the noise level was conducted according to railway type, track components type, seasonal type, retirement degree of the vehicle and subway station. Especially, Noise characteristics were analyzed by noise level data measured in the inside and outside of the train with geometry types of the concrete track. This study will contribute fundamental data for the "The Development of Sound-Absorbing Block on Concrete Track" promoted on The National R&D Project.

  • In this paper, a novel coupled C type resonator is proposed for improvement of phase noise characteristics that is weak point of oscillator using planar type microstrip line resonator. Oscillator using proposed coupled C type resonator is designed, it has improved phase noise characteristics. At the fundamental frequency of 9.8GHz, 2.4dBm output power and -82.7 dBc@100kHz phase noise have been measured for oscillator with coupled C type resonator. The phase noise characteristics of oscillator is improved about 9.7dB compared to one using the general ${\lambda}/4$ microstrip resonator. Due to its simple fabrication process and planar type, it is expected that the technique in this paper can be widely used for low phase noise oscillators for both MIC and MMIC applications.

  • PURPOSES: There is a need to develop a method to incorporate tire-pavement noise in the pavement management system. Tire-pavement noise highly depends on the characteristics of pavement texture. Therefore, estimation of texture characteristics may give useful information to predict tire-pavement noise. This study aimed to find the relationship between tire-pavement noise and MPD(Mean Profile Depth) for concrete pavement. METHODS: MPD and tire-pavement noise were collected on the number of expressway sections including Central Inland Test Road in Korea. Statistical analysis was performed to find the correlationship between MPD and tire-pavement noise. In addition, multiple regression analysis to find the tire-pavement noise based on MPD and type of concrete pavement texture. RESULTS: Linear relationship between MPD and tire-pavement noise is observed for concrete pavement. Furthermore, a forensic equation to estimate tire-pavement noise based on MPD and texture types of concrete pavement is suggested. CONCLUSIONS: Tire-pavement noise on concrete pavement can be predicted based on the consideration of texture type and MPD estimation.

  • According to the analysis of special medical examination and work environment monitoring data, the rate of C1 and D1 on noise hazard exceeded 90% among those of total hazardous factors. The rate of company exceeding noise exposure limit was also more than 90%. The analysis result shows that main ages diagnosed with C1 and D1 was age of 50s. The majority scale company having workers diagnosed with C1 and D1 was the companies employing 5~49 workers. Types of industries which have a large number of companies exceeding noise exposure limit were automobile and trailer manufacturing, metal processing industry and primary metal manufacturing. A large number of work processes exceeding noise exposure limit were forming and processing work, cutting and bending work and grinding. To reduce the number of company exceeding noise exposure limit, the reduction counterplan should be focused on the type of industry and the work process which exceeded noise exposure limit frequently. However, the reduction counterplan is preemptively necessary to the type of industry and the work process which exceeded noise exposure limit consecutively if the purpose of reduction counterplan is not to merely reduce the number of company exceeding noise exposure limit but to abate workers' suffering from noise.

  • Noise measurements were performed by distance for major construction equipment. especially, For construction equipment that large width of variations is depending on the type of work, noise measurements were performed by the detail type of work. For a time of quiescent and construction, "A" compensation equivalent noise level (Leq) were measured. Most of the construction equipment and the characteristics of the point source appears to be similar in analyzed noise measurement results.

  • In this paper survey and analysis of recent trends in noise barriers and noise measurements and assessments were conducted for providing design basis of ANC barriers. Looking at the results, transparent barrier(glass) has received the most attention in domestic and foreign countries, because it has a harmony with the surrounding environment and easy installation in a small space. For optimal barrier design using computer simulation, reliability of simulation has been verified and classified into 5 groups, according to barrier's upper cross section. Evaluation results of barrier's performance and design using computer simulation are as follows : In the case of the "B-type" barrier, it has improved maximum 2.5dB(A) at each point(R1~R6) and have a good workability. Therefore, "B-type" Barriers applied to the next active noise barrier system will be possible.

  • This study review about input data needing for noise mapping through the process for noise mapping to the Cheong-Ju on a middle-small scale city. Typically a technician know a input data in noise mapping but it is difficult to get the data. Even if we get the data, it is not regular type. So it take a long time to work out. This study is presented the guideline to solve this problems and indicate about getting data a scheme. and as it make a comparative study of the Europe case.
