  • A cross-flow fan often generates discrete noise call blade passing frequency tones. Several methods have been investigated to reduce this BPF noise, where the random distribution of blades is the most promising one. A simple and effective algorithm to determine a random distribution of blades is proposed which considers fan. performance as well as noise characteristics. The proposed method is verified by a simple numerical model and is applied in manufacturing cross-flow fan samples. Also some experiments are carried out and the experimental results are analyzed.

The Effect of Noise and Display Orientation on Cognitive Performance

  • Military personnel encounter a variety of noise environments. During exercises, high intensity noise levels are often encountered. Twenty-four subjects were required to respond to symbols presented under two levels of task difficulty, two levels of presentation rate, two levels of display orientation, and three levels of noise intensity. The purpose of the experiment was to determine whether noise intensity and display orientation had any effect on a short-term memory task. Results showed that continuous white noise at intensity levels of 30, 85, and 105 db had no effect on the shortterm memory task. Presentation rate and task difficulty demonstrated a significant relationship with task performance as did their two-way interaction. This two-way interaction between presentation rate and task difficulty exhibited a different pattern for the two levels of display orientation.

  • Unsteady flow characteristics and associated blade tonal noise of a cross-flow fan are predicted by a computational method. The incompressible Wavier-Stokes equations are time-accurately solved for obtaining the pressure fluctuations between the rotating blades and the stabilizer, and sound pressure is predicted using Curie's equation. The computed fan performance is favorably compared with experimental data, and also indicates that the performance is not significantly altered by the random pitch effect at ø〉0.4. (omitted)

  • The construction of concrete slab track system is increased because the system has advantages which are maintenance free and so on, the other side, the system has weak points such as increase of the cost of the early stage construction and noise levels. The increment of noise is due to the reflection of generated noise on the slab tracks. Therefore the acoustic-absorptive materials are considered to reduce noise level. It has been made clear that acoustic-absorptive materials are effective for reducing the wheel/rail noise on slab tracks. The important performance of the acoustic-absorptive material is absorption rates and absorption rates are verified for the considered absorber elements using acoustic duct method. In addition, the required provisons for installing acoustic-absorptive block on slab tracks are considered.

  • 전류잡음은 탄소피막고정저항기의 품질을 나타내는 중요한 척도이다. 저항체피막상의 결함은 전류밀도의 불균형을 초래하고 결과적으로 전류잡음의 기대를 유발한다. 전류잡음의 크기는 저항재의 고유한 성질과 저항체의 처리, 조립 및 외장 등에 의한 여러 요인에 의존하고 있으나 각종 수명시험결과 저항기의 전기적특성과 전류잡음문에는 명백한 관계가 성립하고 있다. 대표군의 저항기에 대한 전류잡음지수의 정규분포를 표시하는 parameter를 해석하면 제품의 품질관리와 생산의 균일성을 판단하는 지표로서 매우 유용한 수단이다.

  • The noise reduction performance of a passive facility is dependent on the its length or volume. In other words, this means that the larger the size of passive facility is, the better the noise reduction performance is. The sound directivity control has been proposed as an alternative for the noise reduction without a passive facility. The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between the flange attached to inclined exit of the tube and sound directivity when the sound radiates from the tube to the outside. As a result, the sound radiated from flanged tube had weak sound directivity in the wide angle. Also as the flange was bigger, the sound pressure level was lower in the behind the flange.

  • A parametric detection scheme for determenistic signals is obtained in a generalized observation model which contains non-additive noise. The model employed in this paper includes several special cases such as those describing purely-additive noise, multiplicative noise, and signal dependent noise and allows the consideration of deterministic and random signals. Locally optimum detectors for known deterministic signals in the model are derived and analyzed for performance. It is shown that the locally optimum detectors are interesting generalizations of those for the purely-additive noise model. Performance of the locally optimum detectors designed for the generalized observation model is compared to that of other common detectors.

A Design of the Robust Controller for an Active Noise Control

  • In this paper, a robust active noise controller is designed to reduce noise in al small cavity. Noise characteristics in the small cavity are nonlinear and we could get its model with considerable modelling errors. The objective of this paper is to minimize the effects of these modelling errors and maximize the noise reduction performance. The solution could be obtained by the H∞ robust control theory. The resulting feedback controller minimizes the H∞ norm of the mixed sensitivity function, which means the effects of uncertainties of the model are suppressed in the sense of stability and the performance is enhanced as a given specification. The designed controller is realized with analog devices such as Op. Amps and experimental results show that the controller reduces noise signal sufficiently.

  • In this paper, we propose an output feedback controller for a chain of integrators system compensating measurement noise of feedback sensor. Measurement noise makes feedback signals distorted, and results in performance degradation or even system failure. Therefore, we need to design a robust controller to accommodate the possible measurement noise in the feedback information. Our controller is equipped with a gain-scaling factor to reject or minimize the effect of measurement noise in output feedback information. We give a theoretical analysis of the controlled system and illustrate the improved control performance via an example.

도로소음 입력의 ANC시스템에서 실시간 적용의 CLMS 알고리즘의 성능 (Performance of CLMS Algorithm for Real-time Application in ANC Systems of Road Noise Input)

  • Recently, many active noise control (ANC) systems, which employ the adaptive filter controlling method, have been reported for eliminating unwanted noise. ANC systems based on the filtered-X least mean square (FXLMS) algorithm have a problem with compensating the acoustic feedback of secondary route. It is difficult to apply the real time, because transfer function of secondary route must be measured by off-line method to solve this problem. In this paper, we propose the ANC system that applies a correlation LMS(CLMS) algorithm for improving a problem of transfer function measurement. The proposed algorithm is based on input of road noise. The proposed ANC systems have an advantage of real-time process without degradation of performance, although there are many calculation compared with FXLMS algorithm.
