  • One of the methods that are used to compare and verify the supporting performance of the spacer grids developed is the vibration characteristic test. A modal test in this paper is performed for a dummy rod 3,847mm tall supported by eight New Doublet (ND) spacer grids. For the vibration test in air, nine accelerometers, one displacement sensor and one shaker are used for acquiring signals, and an I-DEAS TDAS software is employed for analyzing the signals. Also, a finite element (FE) analysis is performed by a beam-spring simple model and a contact model simulating the contact phenomenon between the rod and the fm spring. And then, the result of the FE analysis is compared with that of the modal test. The natural frequencies as well as the mode shapes calculated by the proposed contact models have a greater similarity to the test results than those by the previous beam-spring model. In addition, for grasping whether or not the modal parameters are influenced by where shaking spot is, two kinds of tests are performed; one is for the shaker attached at the fourth span (center), the other is for the shaker at the fifth span that is one span nearer to the bottom of the rod. The latter shows higher MAC than the former. Finally, the vibration displacements are measured in the range of 0.112-0.214mm for the excitation force of 0.25-0.75 N.

자동차 드라이브 샤프트와 액슬 시스템의 트라이볼로지적인 특성에 관한 고장사례 고찰 (Failure Examples Study for Tribological Characteristics of Drive Shaft and Axle System in Vehicles)

  • This study examined the tribological characteristics of the drive shaft and axle system in vehicles. The first drive shaft example contained end play for a CV joint that transferred part of the transmission power to the wheel. The joint part of the drive shaft was deformed because of reduced durability due to wear. Thus, vibrations caused the body to shake and become unbalanced when the drive shaft transferred the power. The second example was the cross-section of a shaft that connected the slip-connection of the propeller shaft on the input side to the yoke flange of the output side; the durability was reduced because of corrosion. End play caused by wear between the bearing and cross-section shaft appeared to cause shaking. In the third example, a grease leak reduced lubrication and thus caused damage to the hub bearing and inside the knuckle. The failure was produced by sticking. The fourth example had noise produced by the gear and gear transfer. This was due to the backlash of the pinion and few ring gears for the differential gear. Therefore, drive shaft and axle systems must be thoroughly checked and managed to minimize and reduce failure phenomena.

  • 본 논문은 LPG 엔진의 전자제어센서에 대한 고장사례를 분석하고 고찰한 연구이다. LP가스의 연료 분사량을 컨트롤하는 크랭크 각도센서의 기능이상은 불규칙하고 불균일한 파형형태로 나타나고 있다. 크랭크 각도센서의 노이즈에 관련된 파형은 톱니형의 불규칙한 피크형상으로 나타났고, 2.46V 정도의 노이즈 레벨이 간헐적으로 발생하고 있다. 1번 TDC센서의 내부불량으로 인해 발생한 고장사례는 엔진의 출력을 떨어뜨리고 시동을 간헐적으로 꺼지게 하는 문제점을 초래한다. 산소센서의 성능이상은 센서의 배선에서 연결이 단절되었기 때문에 발생한 것으로 차량의 울컥거리는 현상과 엔진의 부조화 현상이 나타나고 있다. 에어 크리너를 이종품으로 사용한 경우는 신기가 정상적으로 공급되지 못했기 때문에 차량의 가속불량과 엔진의 부조화 현상이 발생하는 원인으로 작용하고 있었다.

차량 진동이 궤도 선형 측정에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Vehicle Vibration on Track Geometry Measurement)

  • Track maintenance works based on track geometry recordings are essential to enhance the safety and comfort of railway transportation. Usually, the track irregularity has been measured by a special inspection trains which all were imported from abroad. Because the inspection train speed is limited under 160 km/h, it takes a long time to inspect railways and there is difficulty in daytime operation. To solve this problem, we started to develop a track geometry measuring system (TGMS) with measurement speed up to 300 km/h which can be installed in commercial vehicles such as HEMU-430X. In this paper, we introduce a newly developed inertial TGMS and propose two inertial navigation system (INS) algorithms (method A, B) for measuring track geometry. In order to investigate advantage and disadvantage of each algorithm, we performed vibration test of the TGMS, which was simulated by 6-axis shaking table. Through the vibration test, we analyzed the influence of vehicle vibration on the TGMS which will be installed on bogie frame. To the vibration test, two methods satisfied the required accuracy of track geometry measurement under the level of the actual vehicle vibration of HEMU-430X train. Theoretically, method A is sensitive to vehicle vibration than method B. However, HEMU-430X's bogie vibration frequency range is out of interest range of measurement system. Therefore, method A can also apply the HEMU-430X train.

  • This paper presents a design of a tuned liquid mass damper(TLMD) for controlling bi-directional response of high-rise building structure subjected to windload. The proposed damper behaves as a tuned mass damper(TMD) of which mass is regarded as the mass of a tuned liquid column damper(TLCD) and the case wall of the TLCD itself in one direction and the TLCD in the other direction. Because the proposed device has coupled design parameter along two orthogonal directions, it is very important to select designing components by optimal fine tuning. In the designing TLMD, for easy maintenance, the rubber-bearing with small springs was applied in TMD direction. In this study, the Songdo New City Tower 1A in Korea, which has been designed and constructed two TLCDs in order to control bi-directional response, was chosen as the model building structure. The results of rotation test proved the effectiveness of bi-directional behavior of TLMD.

Damage evaluation of seismic response of structure through time-frequency analysis technique

  • Structural health monitoring (SHM) has been related to damage identification with either operational loads or other environmental loading playing a significant complimentary role in terms of structural safety. In this study, a non-parametric method of time frequency analysis on the measurement is used to address the time-frequency representation for modal parameter estimation and system damage identification of structure. The method employs the wavelet decomposition of dynamic data by using the modified complex Morlet wavelet with variable central frequency (MCMW+VCF). Through detail discussion on the selection of model parameter in wavelet analysis, the method is applied to study the dynamic response of both steel structure and reinforced concrete frame under white noise excitation as well as earthquake excitation from shaking table test. Application of the method to building earthquake response measurement is also examined. It is shown that by using the spectrogram generated from MCMW+VCF method, with suitable selected model parameter, one can clearly identify the time-varying modal frequency of the reinforced concrete structure under earthquake excitation. Discussions on the advantages and disadvantages of the method through field experiments are also presented.

이동 로봇을 위한 하이브리드 이미지 안정화 시스템의 개발 (Development of Hybrid Image Stabilization System for a Mobile Robot)

  • This paper proposes a hybrid image stabilizing system which uses both optical image stabilizing system based on EKF (Extended Kalman Filter) and digital image stabilization based on SURF (Speeded Up Robust Feature). Though image information is one of the most efficient data for object recognition, it is susceptible to noise which results from internal vibration as well as external factors. The blurred image obtained by the camera mounted on a robot makes it difficult for the robot to recognize its environment. The proposed system estimates shaking angle through EKF based on the information from inclinometer and gyro sensor to stabilize the image. In addition, extracting the feature points around rotation axis using SURF which is robust to change in scale or rotation enhances processing speed by removing unnecessary operations using Hessian matrix. The experimental results using the proposed hybrid system shows its effectiveness in extended frequency range.

기저선 변동 제거를 위한 실시간 디지털 필터 시스템 구현에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Implementation of Real-time Digital Filter System for the Baseline Wandering Elimination)

  • 홀터 심전계는 휴대용 소형 심전도 기록기로서 신체에 부착한 후 일상생활을 계속하면서 심장의 운동 및 전위변화를 기록, 분석하여 심장질환의 유무를 판단하는데 유용하게 쓸 수 있으므로 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 깨끗한 심전도를 얻기 위해서는 심전도(ECG) 신호에 섞여있는 60Hz 전원 잡음, 기저선 변동, 근 잡음을 제거해야 된다. 홀터 심전계에서 심전도 신호를 기록하는데 있어서 가장 큰 문제를 야기하는 부문이 기저선 변동인데 전극을 부착한 부위의 근육수축과 호흡의 리듬에 따라서 발생하게된다. 그러한 기저선은 상하로 심하게 불규칙한 변동을 하면서 흔들리게 되어 심전도 신호를 진단하는데 어려움이 있으므로 기저선 변동을 제거하는 부분이 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 아날로그 단에서 기저선 변동을 안정화하고 실시간으로 신호 처리할 수 있는 디지털 필터를 구현함으로써 기저선 변동을 제거하는 시스템을 설계하여 환자의 심장질환을 분석하는데 응용할 수 있도록 하였다.

스마트폰의 소지위치 인지 기반의 정확한 보행수 검출 기법 (Accurate Step-Count Detection based on Recognition of Smartphone Hold Position)

  • 개인의 건강 관리를 위해 보행 운동이 강조되면서 보행 정보 서비스의 요구가 많아지고 있다. 최근 스마트폰이 보급되면서 건강 관리 보조를 위한 보행수 측정 앱이 개발되고 있다. 그러나 기존의 앱은 보행 외의 움직임이나 진동을 보행으로 인지하여 보행수가 증가되거나, 다양한 스마트폰 소지위치에서 다른 정확도를 보이는 등의 문제점이 제기되었다. 본 논문에서는 이와 같은 문제를 해결하기 위해 스마트폰의 가속도 센서와 근접 센서를 이용하여 소지위치에 상관없이 정확한 보행수를 측정할 수 있는 방안을 제안한다. 이를 위해 스마트폰의 6가지 소지위치별 임계값 범위를 설정하여 미검출 및 과검출의 오류를 최소화하였고 노이즈를 제거하기 위해 잠금구간을 설정하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 구현 결과 6가지 소지위치를 인식하였고 상용화된 앱과 비교실험을 통하여 제안하는 기법의 정확도가 높음을 확인하였다.

Feasibility Study of Different Biochars as Adsorbent for Cadmium and Lead

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of different biochars on the removal of heavy metals from aqueous media. The experiment was carried out in aqueous solutions containing $200mg\;CdL^{-1}$ or $200mg\;PbL^{-1}$ using two different biochars derived from soybean stover and orange peel (20 mg Cd or $Pbg^{-1}$ biochar). After shaking for 24 hours, biochars were filtered out, and Cd and Pb in the filtrate were analyzed by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometer (FAAS). In order to provide information regarding metal binding strength on biochars, sequential extraction was performed by modified SM&T (formerly BCR). The results showed that 70~100% of initially added Cd and Pb was adsorbed on biochars and removed from aqueous solution. The removal rate of Pb (95%, 100%) was higher than that of Cd (70%, 91%). In the case of Cd, orange peel derived biochar (91%) showed higher adsorption rate than soybean stover derived biochar (70%). Cd was adsorbed on the biochar mainly in exchangeable and carbonates fraction (1st phase). In contrast, Pb was adsorbed on it mainly in the form of Fe-Mn oxides and residual fraction (2nd and 4th phase). The existence of Cd and Pb as a form of surface-precipitated complex was also observed on the surfaces of biochars detected by field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDAX).
