AlN thin films were deposited by using a two-facing-targets type sputtering system (TFTS), and their deposition characteristics, microstructure and texture were investigated. Total gas pressure was kept constant at 0.4 Pa and the partial pressures of nitrogen, $PN_2$ (($N_2$ pressure)/($Ar+N_2$ pressure)) varied from 0 to 0.4 Pa. The texture of the film cross-sections and surface morphology were observed by field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM). The crystallographic orientation of the films were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD). Deposition of AlN film depends on $N_2$ partial pressure. The best preferred oriented AlN thin films can be deposited at a nitrogen partial pressure of $PN_2$ = 0.52. As-deposited AlN films show preferred orientation and columnar structure, and the grAlN size of AlN films increases with increasing sputtering current.
Uptake amount, percent translocation to grain and grain yield efficiency of N. P. K. Si were investigated with N. P. K simple trials (countrywide, 1967~69) and other nitrogen fertiltzer field trials in relation to yield class. 1) Uptake rate with yield increase were similar in all nutrients but silica showed greater yearly variation. 2) In N. P. K simple trials showing very low nitrogen efficiency(46kg grain/ nitrogen uptake kg) it and percent translocation increased with yield increase. 3) Nitrogen efficiency deacreased with the increase of nitrogen uptake and the decreasing rate depends greatly on fertilizer forms and variety. Nitrogen efficiency was greater in sandy loam where yield was higher than in clay loam. 4) Nitrogen efficiency positively correlated with percent translocation. 5) In high yielding fields yield was attributed only to the increase of nitrogen uptake, keeping efficiency around 50. 6) Major factor for high yield is considered as the increase of nitrogen efficiency rather than nitrogen uptake. 7) Phosphorus efficiency in N. P. K. simple trials was considerably low, suggesting too much uptake due to soil reduction.

This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of cutting frequency and nitrogen fertilization on $(NO_3$-N leaching losses under 12 years mixture permanent meadow, The results of this study were summarized as follows: 1. There was no difference in the $(NO_3$-N content of soil water within 1 m soil depth during the whole experimental period. It means that the content of $(NO_3$-N leaching losses was not influenced by botanical composition, cutting frequency and nitrogen fertilization in this experiment. 2. The level of $(NO_3$-N content during the whole experimental period was not in excess of 0.5 ppm level.
For quantitative N depth profiling, N profiles were measured in a~3 m Si oxynitride by low energy O$\sub$2+/sputtering and the result was calibrated with MEIS analysis of the N thickness and areal density. The quantitative depth profile of nitrogen showed the pileup of nitrogen atoms at the interface of ultrathin oxynitride films.
This study was carried out to establish the reasonable level of nitrogen (N) fertilization based on soil nitrate nitrogen $(NO_3-N)$ content for cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) under plastic film house. Cucumber plants were cultivated with standard and free N fertilization in eight soils which had various amount of $NO_3-N$ ranging from 67 to 343 mg/kg. The yield of cucumber was in the range of 1006 to 2369 g/plant depending on the nitrogen supplying capability of soils. The amount of $NO_3-N$ in the soil was negatively correlated with agronomic efficiency (AE) and N use efficiency (NUE). The critical level of soil $NO_3-N$ content for cucumber in N free fertilization was found to be about 260 mg/kg in Cate-Nelson analysis of variance between soil $NO_3-N$ and AE or NUE. Also the same critical soil $NO_3-N$ content was found in the yield and amount of N uptake of cucumber under N free fertilization. A standard N fertilization was required when soil $NO_3-N$ content was below 70 mg/kg. The optimal application rate of N fertilizer for cucumber in the soils containing $NO_3-N$ between 260-70 mg/kg could be recommended by the equation Y=-1.032X+269.2 (Y: N fertilization rate, kg/ha; X : soil $NO_3-N$ content mg/kg).

Indium-zinc-oxide (IZO) films were deposited at room temperature via RF sputtering with varying the flow rate of additive nitrogen gas ($N_2$). Thin film transistors (TFTs) with an inverted staggered configuration were fabricated by employing the various IZO films, such as $N_2$-added and pure (i.e., w/o $N_2$-added), as active channel layers. For all the deposited IZO films, effects of additive $N_2$ gas on their deposition rates, electrical resistivities, optical transmittances and bandgaps, and chemical structures were extensively investigated. Transfer characteristics of the IZO-based TFTs were measured and characterized in terms of the flow rate of additive $N_2$ gas. The experimental results indicated that the transistor action occurred when the $N_2$-added (with $N_2$ flow rate of 0.4-1.0 sccm) IZO films were used as the active layer, in contrast to the case of using the pure IZO film.
1. Increment of applied $SiO_2$, N and K effected Significantly the rice yield in Akiochi soil. Nitrogen fertilizer, however, should be split in several times. 2. The applied silica accelerated the nitrogen efficiency in particular when the increased nitrogen fertilizer was applied. 3. The number of hill per plant was increased by increasing nitrogen application, while percent of maturity was decreased. But application of increased Potassium gave remarkerbly high percentage of maturity. 4. Application of silica to the Akiochi soil increased both the number of spikelets and percentage of maturity of rice. 5. The increased application of nitrogen raised nitrogen content in plant but decreased the content of silica and potassium. The ratio of $SiO_2/N$ and $K_2O/N$, therefore, decreased. 6. From the results it can be concluded that application of increased nitrogen to the Akiochi soil should be accompanied by application of increased $SiO_2$ and K.
In order to detect the way of absorption and metaboism of the urea it is sprayed on the surface of the leaves of sunflower. The sunflowers used in this study are grown in different conditions such that the one in nittogen aboundant and the other in nitrogen deficient soil, respectively. The urea-N, ammonia-N, amide-N, and 80% alcohol soluble-N in the leaves were quantitatively determined. All of the nitrogenous components measured are generally tended to increased with rising the concentration of urea except only amide-N at 24 hours after sprayed, and these were highly significances. It seemed that hydrolizing of urea into ammonia and carbon dixide and the assimilation of ammonia into other organic nitrogenous constituents were rapid in the young leaves than in the mature. It is interest that the amide content, in the young leaves and nitrogen defieient one were enhanced with the increasing concentration of urea, although in the mature leaves it did not show any change in the urea treatment. It is presumed that the assimilation rate of ammonia and the urease activity were lower in the matture leaves than in the young and nitrogen deficient leaves. No significance at 5% level showed all of the nitrogenous components except total nitrogen between nitrogen abundant and deficent leaves. Urea content was a high peak at first 12 hours, ammonia at 48 hours, and amide and alcohol soluble nitrogen at 96 hours, whence decrease4d the content of these constituents gradually. The total nitrogen content is not incrased obviously by only one time of urea spray in this study. When the concentration of urea was relatively high there appeared the wilting spots on t도 edge of leaves. As a whole, it seemed that sprayed urea was rapidly absorbed and taken part in nitrogen metabolism within relatively short period.
This paper was discussed N-balance of the republic of Korea. About 397Kg N/ha was inputted into the chemical fertilizer, animal feed, precipitation and nitrogen fixation. About 15kg N/ha was outputted from the Korea. The amount of N surplus was 397kg N/ha and loaded into environment. This causes the problem of water, air and soil pollution. It should take measures to improve the situation, such as depending more on selfsufficient feed and using nutrient cycling functions of soils.
Inhibition of nodule formation and nitrogen fixation by soil nitrogen, primarily nitrate, is well known in legume plants. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of ${NO_3}^-$ on the nodulation, nitrogenase activity, and growth of supernodulating soybean mutant and its wild type. A greenhouse study was conducted to compare two of supernodulating mutants, 'SS2-2' and 'nts 382', with the normal nodulating cultivar 'Sinpaldalkong 2' when grown in a 1-l styroform cup filled with sand, and fertilized with five levels of ${NO_3}^-$ (0, 2, 4, 8, and 12 mM). During the growth period, each plant was supplied two or three times a week with 50 mL of nutrient solution. Supernodulating soybean mutants, SS2-2 and nts 382, showed more nodules and nodule mass, and greater $C_2\;H_2$ activity than the wild type, Sinpaldalkong 2, regardless of the level of exogeneous nitrogen supply. On the other hand, total dry weight of SS2-2 mutant, which was smaller than Sinpaldalkong 2, did not respond to the various ${NO_3}^-$-N levels. This suggested that supernodulating SS2-2 mutant could maintain fairly high total dry weight at the low ${NO_3}^-$-N level, even in the absence of exogeneous ${NO_3}^-$-N in the nutrient solution. From the reduced top growth and high nitrogen fixing ability of supernodulating mutants, it was surmised that supernodulating mutant could potentially protect agricultural environments from pollution through the reduction in nitrogen fertilization as well as maintain fairly high yield with increasing planting density.
