In rural settlement planning, its spatial development framework should be constructed on the basis of the hierachial settlement system. However, up to now, there does not exist widely - accepted model on rural settlement hierachy. In this study the basic planning principles and directions on the modelling of the settlement hireachy in rural areas have been consolidated through theoretical study and situational analysis on planning environments. And also, a new yardstick on the grading of the middle - level centers between villages and rural towns has been tried to find out. The research resulted that the existance of periodical rural market might be used as a simple and innovative yardstick on the hierachial ordering of rural settlement system. Based on the above results, an alternative 4 - step model of rural settlement hierachy was proposed ; Rural Town(county hall sitted) -Market Center(having standard periodical market) - Village Center(having no market) - Village. Finally, because the conclusion has been made by very limited case studies and several previous works, there should need continuous studies and checks in future for full reasoning of the proposed model.

최근 Iowa주 간호협회, 제2지구 주최로 Iowa 주 Marshall town 에서 개최된 토론회기사가 우리에게 좋은 참고재료가 될 것같아 여기 옮기기로 했다. 이 토론회에는 간호원을 위시하여 병원행정관, 학생 및 기타 간호사업에 관심을 가진 인사들 약 500명이 참석하였었다. 왜 이 많은 사람들이 이 문제에 흥미를 가지고, 토론회를 열게끔 되고 참석하게끔 되었는가 하는 의문에 대한 해답을 원문의 편집자는 아래와 같이 풀이하고 있다. 즉 ''간호교육에 대한 깊은 관심과 나아가서는 간호사업이 당면한 딜렘마에 대한 절실한 관심 때문이다''라고. 이 문제 토론을 이끌어 주신 분은 Iowa주에 있는 Iowa주립대학교 간호대학 학장이시며 저명한 간호교육자이신 Laura C. Dustan 여사와 New York의 Albany Medical Center 의무부총장인 Thomas Hale 박사의 두분인데 Hale박사는 병원 부속 간호학교제도를 제창하는 분이다. 여기 위 두분의 연설문과 연설 후에 있었던 방청객과의 질의 및 토론의 발체문을 제한된 지면 관계로 일부만 실리겠다.

This study was focused on estimated Stream Maintenance Flow and performed for simulate securing Stream Maintenance Flow in New town development area. Tributary streams were made of 6 small streams, joined Gong-ji Stream and Eu-am lake finally. For estimate Stream Maintenance Flow used Kajiyama and SWAT models for calculate available flow in study area. As a result the annual average stream flow dry years were $2,300{\sim}136,000\;m^/day3$, the annual average stream flow wet years were $4,800{\sim}136,031\;m^3/day$. The coefficient of determination($R^2$) and Nash-sutcliffe coefficient(EI) for comparison between Kajiyama and SWAT models were 0.88, 0.78 respectively.

In the present circumstance of exploring measures for sustainable development, finding and using planning elements of historical city is getting important as a urban planning tool. Thus this study aims to examine the characters of Korean traditional urban form through three periods, Josun, modern and contemporary eras. Three urban centers representing different characteristics were selected; historical center based on 14th century's traditional planning, modern period urban center, which is related with development of railway, and contemporary urban center of late 20th century. Analyse of urban tissue, composed with form and scale of street network, blocks and plots, shows that each urban center of Seoul has certain common attributes in terms of morphology in spite of the difference of formation and development period. However this historical urban forms are rarely applicated in the current urban planning, such as new-town planning or district unit plan. This shows the necessity of modification of urban regulation for preserving the identity of our city and pursuing sustainable development.

This paper has attempted to analyze the site planning theories of Raymond Unwin (1863-1940), who is called the father of British town planning. A prominent contribution of his was to establish both the site planning of garden suburb and urban housing style in British type. Here it attempts to analyze how he greatly and firmly established the concept of Housing Group, and how he got this the concept from the life and spatial composition of villages. It could be pointed out that the main factors of the Unwin theory are social mixture, creation of community consciousness and informal landscape design, and that the small enclosed space with plenty of amenity is his main theme. It is pointed out that the Unwin theory is composed of recognizing urban life as totality, and group planning theory, and that he definitely originated a new technique: Housing Group. It is analyzed that the syntactic relations between the group planning theory and housing designs in the English garden suburbs are epitomized in Hampstead Garden Suburb, Middlesex.

The purpose of the study was to examine the socio-psychological factors of outdoor spaces in apartment complex. The data for the empirical analysis were collected from 412 households living in Haeundae New Town, Busan, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and one-way analysis of variance and Duncan's multiple range test. The socio-psychological factors abstracted were territoriality, privacy, safety, sociality, accessibility, and identity. It was found that the households were generally positive to the overall socio-psycological factors in the current apartment complex. The significant explanatory variables for the responses to the socio-psychological factors were age of the wife, education of the wife, occupation of the wife, tenure type, monthly household income, length of residence, and overall satisfaction with outdoor spaces.

The purpose of this study was analyzing characteristics of $85m^2$-sizes housing units with 3-bay and 4-bay and the residents' satisfaction with them. The subjects for analyzing $85m^2$-sizes housing units with 3-bay and 4-bay in the new town, yongin, in Gyeonggi-do. The study result was show that the residents satisfaction who have experienced the 3-bay housing unit than 4-bay housing unit.

In the context of structure formation in a hierarchical Universe, the relevance of mergers to radio-loud active galaxies is still under debate. I employ two different observational approaches to investigate the merger history of active galaxies, using several different samples of radio-loud AGN. I will first show results from the investigation of a complete sample of flat-spectrum radio-AGN and their role in a merger-driven evolution of galaxies. In the second part of my talk I will focus on the investigation of the close environment of radio-loud active galaxies, using data from the new VISTA-VIDEO near-infrared survey. Strong evidence is found supporting a close connection between merger events and radio-loud AGN.

There should be a need for measures to build up environmentally friendly transport system with new town for residence being built near metropolitan area. In order to promote the development of station influence area, convenience for public transport users and LRT(Light Rail Transit) construction, request for the speed improvement of urban transit is on the rise for easy access to the metropolitan area. This paper delves into the efficient operation of high speed train suitable for passenger demand estimates, and seeks to ensure integrated transportation system with subway Line 9 following the construction of Gimpo urban railway.

Comparison between photocatalysis and sonophotocatalysis were performed in lab-scale experiments for the treatment of benomyl. The effect of operational parameters, i.e., initial benomyl concentration, $TiO_2$ concentration, $H_2O_2$ concentration on the degradation rate of aqueous solution of benomyl has been examined. The optimal conditions for photocatalysis and sonophotocatalysis processes were determined: initial Benomyl concentration was 3 mg/L, the concentration of $TiO_2$ was 2 g/L and $H_2O_2$concentration was 1.5 mM. Under the optimal conditions, sonophotocatalysis was effective for inducing faster degradation of the benomyl.
